Le Carnot

Great location with lots of passers by but food quality was varied. Service was slow /​labored and had to be prompted on several occasions.
Dish of the day — pork with mashed potato — was tasty but a small serving. The tagliatelle carbonara with ham and cheese sauce was excellent with an American sized serving.

Very nice atmosphere, food was nicely presented and was pretty good! Salmon with dill needed more acidity in my opinion but the lasagna was great!

Good location, and we were able to get lunch on a Saturday without reservation. Service was a bit uneven, and sometimes verging on rude to other tables (particularly one waiter who seemed frustrated with English speakers). Staff seemed really rushed and overwhelmed. We had pizzas (crust not browned, thick gooey, lots of sauce), fries (tasty and homemade), and a really nice salad with melted Camembert and potatoes in it. If you’re looking for a sit-​down café experience with good people-​watching, get a seat at Carnot. On the other hand, if good taste/​quality is more important, I recommend the place next door.

Although the location of this Brasserie was perfectly cute and the décor was great, the food was bad. We ordered the oeufs de marinette (poached eggs in sauce) and the French onion soup. The French onion soup was so bad, it was watery liquid with a side of shredded cheese and croutons. It wasn’t a classic French onion soup at all! For 11 euros it was appalling. The egg dish wasn’t much better. I’d recommend only coming here for a coffee not for the food.

One of the few places open in Beaune on a Monday night. Boeuf bourguignon was OK but underseasoned… frankly, I make a better beef stew with red wine and I’m an uncouth American. :)
Their crème brûlée was quite good. Set your expectations appropriately.

Good bistro with nice service and view of a cute street and charming church. Beautiful interior too. The waiter was very kind and patient with our bad French. Had the cheese platter and drinks. Excellent.

Super brasserie traditionnelle pour prendre un verre dans le centre de Beaune.
Jolie déco vintage à l’intérieur et belle terrasse à l’extérieur été comme hiver grâce aux jolis plaids gris. Jolie déco hivernale sur la terrasse, on se croirait au ski.
Excellent chocolat chaud.

Une brasserie simple, très rapide et efficace.
Les plats sont bons, le personnel agréable, les prix corrects.

Quite good although kid’s pizza wasn’t their favorite. Parents were happy as had some great escargot apps and the beef bourguignon was fantastic. Nice outdoor seating and pleasant service

Popular haunt with the tourists. The food was average; I recommend staying away from the onion soup. It was watery and served with shredded (mozzarella?) cheese. My Carnot salad was ok.

Not good; typical tourist restaurant. House wine tasted like vinegar and lasagne was hot on edges but cold inside. Food is marginal at best, but the service was very good and a pretty view.

Joli endroit, le personnel est aimable et le service efficace. Les plats sont variés et bons. Les produits semblent de bonne qualité. A recommander pour un moment convivial dans un endroit sympa.

Une déco vieille brasserie très sympa. Une carte complète qui propose des plats à tous les prix. Des serveurs très gentils malgré une salle et une terasse pleine. Service assez rapide. Les plats étaient très bons et copieux.

Fantastic classic Burgundy fare with great service.
We had cancelled most reservations while we were there and opted to cook in and relax. I wanted to go somewhere for lunch where we could sample some of the better food of the region from poached eggs, escargot, and beef borg. I’m glad we stopped there. Fantastic food! We ordered 50cl of wine and made an afternoon of it!
This was the first time I have had escargot and now I feel as though I’ve been missing out for the past thirty years.
Definitely recommended!

Einige wenige Sitzplätze im Freien, innen ist das Restaurant ein langer Schlauch wenn man weiter vorne sitzt laufen also permanent Gäste und Bedienungen hinter einem spazieren, was bei dem engen Gang etwas stören kann. Die Toiletten sind eine Zumutung: Es handelt sich um ein recht großes Lokal, was offenbar meist sehr gut besucht ist, aber es gibt nur 2 Kabinen (1 für Männer, 1 für Frauen), so dass man Schlange stehen muss, was bei dem erwähnten engen Gang gar nicht möglich ist! Der Service war allerdings außerordentlich nett, locker und super höflich, dafür ein Kompliment.
Zum Essen: Nichts besonderes! Das Fleisch meiner Entrecôte ist mir in den Zähnen hängen geblieben. Auch wenn man die restlichen Punkte ausblendet, mehr als 3 Sterne gibt’s hierfür nicht.

We visited for lunch and were pleased with the friendly service and reasonable prices. Our waiter was great, spoke excellent English, and the location on the pedestrian walkway was quiet with great people watching. The pizza looked great but I decided to try a local dish of tripe in a mustard sauce. The sauce was great but tripe is definately an acquired taste!

Accueil chaleureux, service rapide, personnel agréable, cuisine de bistrot sans prétention mais de très bonne qualité!!! Salades copieuses et très bonnes, banana split très bonne et crème brûlée terrible!
Relativement calme à cause de la finale de foot, mais ça a l’air d’être une adresse très fréquentée.

Stopped in for lunch. Very pleased with the meal, although what we ordered was quite basic. I had the hamburger and frites my wife had the lasagna. Tres Bön!

Had the escargot, boeuf Bourgogne, cheese plate and crime brûlée. Very enjoyable, helpful staff. Everything was fabulous except the cerem brûlée which was good, but I’m sure there’s better in town. Nonetheless, it definitely gets my recommendation.

Location is great, lots of of outdoor seating. Prices were good. The pizza was impressive as were the escargot. Always busy and lots of activity around. It was our regular for coffee in am as well for lunch

Super adresse à Beaune, aussi bien pour boire un verre que pour grignoter croque monsieur, pasta, pizze, belles salades pas diététiques pour un sou et viandes généreuses !
La salade Carnot, le hamburger maison et le milk shake sont un pur bonheur !
Déco brasserie très réussie et clientèle variée. Tarifs justifiés et très doux. Service très efficace et super sympa, méritant largement son pourboire. Le lieu né désemplit pas !

Brasserie bien située en plein milieu du centre ville. C’est pratique car elle est ouverte non-​stop du midi au soir. Terrasse au soleil pour les beaux jours. Les plats sont copieux et restent dans la cuisine bourguignonne (leur andouillette à la moutarde est vraiment pas mal). Très bon rapport qualité-​prix et service aimable.

Excellent service, owner was our waiter, and he was amazing. He let us use his internet service for a night. Food outstanding.
