Bar du Central

Stopped here on our last night to try to the escargot and beef tartare. The escargot was delicious and one of the better ones that we had on the trip. Beef tartare was not impressive but worth a try. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a restaurant in NYC, except the waiters will speak 4 languages, switching from English to French to Spanish among the different tables. Near the Eiffel Tower too, so if you’re in the area and need a place to sit, here is a good option.

Our favorite café to eat at in Paris. We were in Paris for a week and we ate here 3 times. We are not the type to eat at the same place over and over while on vacation but we had such a great experience and such good food each time. I recommend for a late night meal.

Les atouts du Bar du Central? Sa déco, son ambiance et dans une certaine mesure sa localisation. Mais du fait de sa localisation justement, c’est cher, très cher, trop cher.
De passage en fin de matinée, le bar était plutôt calme. J’ai trouvé l’endroit vraiment chouette, un mix d’ambiance new yorkaise et parisienne. Des miroirs un peu vieillis sur les murs recouverts de bouteilles vides assez stylées, un grand comptoir en zinc, très beau.
La bonne surprise de la carte pour les non buveurs de café comme moi: le thé à la menthe fraîche servi dans une petite théière avec son couvre-​chef (le couvre-​chef de la théière!) pour garder tout cela au chaud. Le thé était bien sucré et avec beaucoup de goût, j’ai quitté Paris pendant quelques instants. Et puis l’addition m’a fait revenir sans transition dans le 7e arrondissement: presque 20 € pour deux cafés et un thé.

Stumbled upon this place. What a gem. Very inviting restaurant and the staff was so wonderful. Menu straightforward and simple. we started with the smoked salmon which was simple but fresh, light, and delicious with toasted bread. I had been intrigued to see how the French do hamburgers, and I was NOT disappointed. One of the best — great bun, lovely medium rare cooked patty, cheddar cheese, arugula, and a mustard spread sauce. Pommes Frites on the side. My husband had the Steak Tartare, another sure winner. Portions were perfect. Prices were moderate but in line with the quality of food.

Come here for brunch! Cosy atmosphere of a Parisian bar bistro, busy on a Sunday morning. Great croissants, chewy baguette, very good dark chocolate in the pain au chocolat. The brunch includes a bowl with strawberries and pistachio, scrambled egg, decadent French toast, a random Cesar salad and a quark like cheese — all served on a tray. The only downside: the cappuccino was terrible so choose the café au lait instead. A good option in any case for a lazy Sunday brunch.

Oui c’est vraiment trop cher, avec la pinte au-​dessus de dix euros. Mais c’est la rue Saint-​Dominique!
Nous nous y étions donné rendez-​vous car j’avais lu la recommandation d’une blogueuse célèbre à propos de ce bar.
L’endroit est très joli, les serveurs né sont ni désagréables ni agréables. Nous avons eu un peu de mal à capter leur attention pour commander, alors que le bar était relativement vide.
La musique d’ambiance était plutôt très cool, je n’arrêtais pas de reconnaître des titres sympas ou de shazamer.
J’aurais classé ça sans suite car trop cher si je n’avais pas découvert une tuerie: leur plateau de fromages! Avec des spécimens si forts que si on craque une allumette, ils explosent, comme dans Astérix en Corse!
Bref un orgasme buccal pour moi fraîchement rapatriée d’un pays au fromage inexistant, et une haleine fétide pour trois jours.

Maybe my favorite meal in Paris. Best Escargot I’ve ever had. Superb burgers. Warm, welcoming staff. Fun bar scene too.

We happened on this restaurant with our three young children. They had a nice table in the back that accommodated us well, everyone found something they liked. It was a good family friendly option in the area, where all the other restaurants seemed to be full of business people.

Un restaurant sympa a la devanture assez sobre et dans l’air du temps niveau décoration.
Parlons décoration justement, la décoration a l’intérieur est plutôt sympathique et s’inspire des vieux carrelages du métro de New-​York. Le reste est décoré avec goût, on s’y sent bien et c’est la le principal.
J’ai pu personnellement tester la carte du brunch le dimanche. Elle est assez vaste, avec une partie spécial œufs bio qui sont déclinés sous plusieurs formes, une partie plus plats (comme tartare etc…), une partie avec des plats et des choses a partager et enfin une partie pour les amateurs de sucré.
J’ai opté pour un «Breakfast Sandwich» qui est en fait un hamburger (plutôt de petite taille) avec des œufs, bacon, etc… Il est accompagné d’un peu de salade. Et bien j’ai bien apprécié ce sandwich du matin ! Mais il n’a pas réussit a combler ma faim, alors j’ai opter pour des pancakes (clairement faits maison) avec du sirop d’érable. Eux aussi étaient très bons et bien consistants.
En gros une belle réussite pour cet établissement tant par la décoration que pour la qualité de la nourriture, un brunch bien apprécié sous toutes ses coutures !

Brasserie/​restaurant de la rue saint Dominique décorée style métro new yorkais!
J’ai eu l’occasion dy aller plusieurs fois et donc de tester divers plats qui a chaque fois étaient très bon ainsi que ceux de mes coéquipiers de table !
Le tout accompagné d’un minuty et le charme opère !
Dans ce quartier, cela manqué de bonnes surprises comme celle ci !

Great place, a bit fancy atmosphere but maybe because it was new years. We came across it by accident looking for a taxi. The bartender was nice, and so were the staff. The only downside was that I paid 14 € for a Smirnoff Vodka plus 3 € or so for cranberry. that’s expected of for something such as Grey Goose or Belvedere. that’s the only downside I found of the place. But I didn’t stay too long.

A great bar in the 7^th. Extensive drinks menu, delicious mojitos. Their food menu is limited, but what they do serve is excellent. We both had pasta and it was very fresh — we wanted more! Be sure to get a serving of ice cream after your meal! The service was decent — we were there at a slower time, so I’m not sure what it would be like when it’s busy.
What I really enjoyed about this bar is its vintage feel, but you can tell it has been recently refurbished. Great atmosphere and décor — a nice change from other pubs that can get quite outdated.

Great location with limited view but worth it if you can grab one of few seats outside with the view of the Eiffel Tower.

Very nice and cosy atmosphere. This place is what you would expect from a French café situated between the Eiffel tower and Napoleon’s latest home. Great place for dinner or just a drink. Sitting at the terrace, the bar or inside will provide you a general feeling of well being and being stuck in time. If you went to a show or to a sporting event or just went and did weird things that no one wants to know about but it’s later in the evening and you are hungry and in the area (or not) and looking to finish off the evening the right way. This place is for you.
Ps: steak tartare: get it.
