Café Chappe

Pris sous 1 violent orage avec ma femme, nous sommes allés nous réfugier sous la marquise de ce café afin de nous abriter comme 2 ou 3 autres personnes. Ce qui n'a pas plu à 1 des 2 serveurs qui nous bousculait sans arrêt. Nous sommes donc entré à l'intérieur et avons demandé à consommer au bar. Cela n' a pas plu au serveur mais il pouvait refuser. Nous sommes restés plus d'une heure au comptoir à être bousculés sans arrêt avec des regards noirs... Très désagréables également avec la clientèle en général, notamment avec les touristes étrangers. A la fin, n'y tenant plus, j'ai interpellé ironiquement le serveur pour lui demander si par hasard on ne le gênait pas. Il m'a répondu sans se démonter que si on pouvait partir, cela faciliterait leur travail...(!). Nous avons réglé et nous sommes retournés sous la pluie battante dans les rues de Montmartre. Cela fait 50 ans que je fréquente la butte et je peux vous assurer que ces personnes n'ont rien à faire à ici.

Luckily for us, we ended up staying right across the street from Café Chappe. We had a couple salads which were beyond incredible and we have returned the last three evenings for wine on the terrace. Our server has been even better than the wine and food.

I’m not sure if I went to the same Café Chappe as other reviewers, but I had a very pleasant and memorable experience when I ate at the café last year.
Service was great and the waiters weren’t constantly checking up on you, so you can just relax and enjoy the ambience of Montmartre. My friend and I ate there for brunch and we were seated right away. The outdoor seats are right on Rue Tardieu and during brunch hours the streets are not busy.
We thought the food was great and portions were generous. When you order the croque madame, you also get a side salad. Both the chocolat chaud and café au lait were very yummy.

Great location but awful food. I ordered the steak and it was the toughest meat I’ve ever had. In fact, it was not edible for fear I would break my dental work.
The chicken was also over cooked and tough. My daughter ordered pene with marinara and got rubbery mostacioli with a strange brown onion sauce. Of the five meals we ordered only two were edible — the lasagna and Caesar salad.
The location however was convenient and atmosphere nice, hence this review is not a full flame one star.
This was our first meal in Paris and I’m very disappointed. Lots of others in Montmartre to discover! But we’re coming coming back to this place.

Ich verteile wenige 1-​sterne Beiträge, aber dieses Café hat es verdient. Objektiv betrachtet könnte man sicher 2 oder vielleicht sogar 3 Sterne verteilen, aber mir sind gewisse Dinge wichtiger als andere beim bewerten und genau bei diesen Kriterien versagt das Café Chappe
1) Enorm unfreundliches Personal. Unmotiviert, langsam und sogar frech.
2) Dieses Lokal liegt so gut dass es von einmal Touristen leben kann. Man merkt das man sich hier also keine Mühe mehr geben muss.
3) Bauernfängerei: Draussen steht riesig angeschrieben dass es kostenloses Wi-​Fi gibt. Als wir fragten, war es natürlich kaputt.
4) Karte alt und schmuddelig. Die Auswahl ist mager.
So, genug gelästert. Ich hoffe jemand macht sich die Mühe Beiträge über dieses Lokal zu lesen bevor er hingeht. Wir sind einfach, wie tausende Touristen vor uns, direkt rein gesteuert.

I didn’t have any knowledge beforehand how the food would be like so kind of caught me off guard how bad it was. The sugar crepes were awful with loads of sugar on it and the breaded chicken was just tok dry to eat.
I saw our server grab ice with his bare hands and put them in our drinks. I mean come on can’t you just scoop the ice with a cup?
I also didn’t like how our server reacted after we left him 12 percent tip even though we really weren’t obligated to in France. Avoid this place if you happen to get wifi and read this review.

Good place. Decent French onion soup, a little salty. Staff was pleasant enough.

We may have hit this place just right, but our experience was great. Came in with our family of 5 for a late 11p dinner. This after being ignored at the place diagonally across the street. The staff greeted us warmly and took our food and drink order very quickly. The meal was superb. We had the cod, duck, steak, spaghetti, and soup. Quick service! Terrific time and was just the perfect thing for us. I am rating high because the staff was on their game and it was a great experience for us. Mixed drink was a tad weak. Beer cold. Table water served promptly. Super great waitress!

Café Chappe was the perfect place to grab a bite and relax after taking the train to Paris from London. My hotel was just a few blocks away and it was on the way down the hill from Sacré-​Cœur. Their menu offerings and free wi-​fi drew me in. The chill atmosphere, outdoor seating and just-​the-​right-​amount-​of-​busy intersection sealed the deal.
I grabbed a table outside (even with the threatening clouds above), ordered a carafe of red wine and a Croque Madame and got the wi-​fi password. I was in a small state of bliss. The wi-​fi worked, the wine was excellent and cheap and the croque madame was insanely good. It’s hard to beat a ham and cheese sandwich that is cooked to perfection and topped with an egg. And the prices here are excellent. Cheap and good… that’s how I like it.
It started to pour, we ran inside, a waiter cleared off a high-​top table and let us chill there until the rain passed.
I couldn’t have been more pleased with the atmosphere, service, food and quality of the wi-fi…I could even FaceTime home to the US on my iPhone while I was there.
Definitely worthy of your time, money and appetite.

C’est un bar et un restaurant placé au centre d’un quartier très animé. Une ambiance tranquille.

As a new student in Paris, my friend I were looking for a good WiFi spot to go to for working while enjoying a good café au lait or beer. Although the place has a nice vibe, the server was incredibly rude from beginning to end. This place could have had new regular business but lost it instead.

Un de ces dimanches ensoleillés, je me retrouve en terrasse à ce bar qui, il faut bien le signaler, bénéficie d’un superbe emplacement d’angle donnant sur son voisin d’en face Le Progrès.
Enfin encore faut-​il aimer être assis tordu, oui le trottoir est en pente, et avoir le soleil dans les yeux. Bön, vous me direz je fais ma difficile. Mail il y a des jours comme ça où l’on n’a pas envie de faire de concession.
Donc en terrasse nous sirotons Coca et autres désaltérants à bulles dans l’espoir de pallier à la chaleur ambiante. Mais c’est tout, en fait ce n’est pas un bar pour faire la fête, mais juste un bar de passage où viennent se réfugier moult touristes après avoir fait le tour du quartier.
Voilà, ici on s’arrête pour se désaltérer, ou se reposer parce qu’on vient de grimper jusqu’en haut du Sacré Choeur ou encore parce qu’il fait trop chaud, tout simplement.

Les sagouins! 3,90 euros le diabolo pêche!
L’avantage de ce bar, c’est qu’il est souvent ensoleillé donc au lieu d’aller se glacer les os en face au Progrès.
Ça vaut cher en tout cas d’avoir la terrasse ensoleillée et en plus le service n’est pas spécialement sympathique.

Ils en profitent de leur emplacement hautement touristique, les patrons du Café Chappe. Et de leur belle terrasse, étendue, à mi-​chemin entre le Sacré-​Coeur et la place des Abesses. On se dit: «Après tout, pourquoi pas? Si les Américains sont prêts à payer si cher leur café !»
Et puis, un jour, pauvres autochtones que nous sommes, en quête de quelques rayons de soleil, on se retrouve à la terrasse de ce bistrot. Et là, quand on paie son Orangina ou son Diabolo pêche, 3,90 €… on se dit que quand même, ils pourraient créer des tarifs spéciaux pour les gens du quartier !
En bref: oui le Café Chappe est un joli bar de quartier, bien placé avec une terrasse super agréable. Mais, bien trop cher ! Comme tous les autres bars du coin.
