Café Daguerre

We were visiting from the US. This was close to the apartment we stayed at. Staff was friendly and accommodated our very bad French! I had the beef bourguignon. Quite tasty! Others in the party had steaks. Not quite what we’re used to in the US they were very thin. But I think that’s France, not the restaurant.
All in all we were very pleased

After visiting all the markets on the street, we came here.
Joanna was a wonderful host, spoke enough English to help us select our food. We had salads with chicken and bacon. The chicken had a light coating of pesto and all the ingredients were fresh.
The prices were in line for what we got. If your looking for a good lunch reasonably priced, this is the place. They also had internet.

Great place for people watching but was clearly a «tourist» restaurant with an English menu. Prices were steep and food was mediocre. Nothing to rave about but it was what we needed after the catacombes.

La rue Daguerre regorge de petits cafés, bars et terrasses où il est très agréable de se poser lorsqu’il fait beau.
Le Café Daguerre profite d’une grande terrasse, très sympa pour prendre des verres.
La carte des vins est plutôt exhaustive (vins de toute la France mais aussi du monde), proposant plusieurs tailles de verres (15cl, 25cl …).
Néanmoins, je reste à 3 étoiles, parce que franchement, niveau service, faut faire un effort …

The taste and the service is your typical brasserie. Good location to sit out and watch people. Good portion but bit pricey for what it is.

I went out on a sunny morning in Montparnasse in search of a quiet, inviting place to eat breakfast. I happened across Café Daguerre and couldn’t have been happier.
I made my way inside for a look around and then stepped back through a side doorway into a closed off outdoor section in search of a table that wasn’t in the direct sun. I found one in a non-​smoking section which was a pleasant surprise. The wooden tables were clean and clear of place settings. I was cheerfully greeted by a waiter asking if I was interested in breakfast and although he didn’t offer me a menu, took me through what was available — breakfast Anglaise was the ticket for me — ham omelette, orange juice, croissant, coffee and bread for the (Paris) reasonable price of € 10.
My meal arrived in no time flat and it was delicious. The croissant was warm & moist, the eggs done perfectly (which to me means fluffy and moist, not dry and hard). This was exactly what I was looking for.
If you’re interested in catching up with world events on your iPad over coffee, free wifi is available.
As we all know, there is no shortage of cafés in Paris. Of those I’ve tried, Café Daguerre stands out for it’s cleanliness, surprisingly cheerful staff and better than average food. It was a fortunate choice.
If you’re in the neighborhood, you won’t be disappointed.

J’ai été moyennement emballée par ce bar/​brasserie, pourtant très bondé donc surement très apprécié !
Je n’ai pas compris le concept de l’happy hour pour la bière: 4,50 € les 45 cl ?! Étrange… Le serveur né devait pas être dans un bon jour car il n’était pas très agréable.
La terrasse doit cependant être agréable quand il fait beau !

Personnel exécrable.
Je commande un café au bar et cherche une prise pour mon téléphone. On me répond qu’il n’y en a pas. Un bar sans prise? Impossible. J’insiste. On me dit d’un air excédé «je crois que vous n’avez pas bien compris: il n’y en a pas POUR VOUS !»
Contrite, je m’assieds au bar pour boire mon café et dire gentiment au monsieur qu je voudrais juste brancher mon téléphone. IL ME RETIRE LE CAFÉ qu’il m’a servi, et me dit que je peux aller le boîte ailleurs…

J’y suis passée en coup de vent boire un café (2 € 60, Paris, je t’aime ! …). La fréquentation de ce quartier est très dense donc je né pense que j’apprécierais la terrasse en été près de la Place Denfert-​Rochereau toujours bouchée d’automobiles…
Le service était très sympa. La déco est typique d’une brasserie. Il y avait une bonne ambiance. C’est bruyant mais juste ce qu’il faut. Je pense que ce café est toujours plein de personnes profitant des Happy Hours mais aussi de groupes de travail qui s’y installer pour brainstormer.
Bref, un lieu sympa. Je n’ai pas testé leur cuisine.

Cosy Brasserie in a good location on the corner of a very nice pedestrian zone (Rue Daguerre). Great spot for sitting and doing some «people-​watching».
We had Dinner with 4 People and a overall good experience. Friendly waiter and decent food. Mixed crowd of locals and tourists.
Negatives? As with many Parisian Cafés — very tight seating.

After a great night of eating and drinking our fabulous waitress topped off our last night in Paris with some kind of delicious coconut shot on the house!!! Cant wait to come back to Paris!

Je laisse mes critiques en français — comme ça ils peuvent le lire au resto. J’habite dans le quartier et j’aime la nourriture ici. Bons choix et qualité. MAIS je voulais m’asseoir à un endroit et ils m’ont refusé parce qu’ils voulait garder l’endroit pour un groupe. J’ai accepté parce que j’ai faim mais il n’y a quasiment personne ici à 16h00 un lundi. Entre temps une française est venue s’assoir solo au même endroit et il n’a rien dit à elle. J’ai un accent (américain) — mais attention des étrangers sont susceptible d’amener des grands groupes chez vous si nous trouvons le service charmant. (Ce que nous avons fait d’ailleurs recement avec 15 collègues). Et j’ai eu un panier de vieux pain. Seriously — dont assume we’re just passing through Paris if we have an accent and treat us poorly. We spend a lot of money is restos and want the same service you’d give to the French. And we’ll spend it elsewhere if you make us feel unwelcome.

If you are looking for a light meal I can recommend the salad, you can’t go wrong here. It’s a generous size. We ordered the chicken salad, it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was succulent, and subtly marinated served on a bed of Boston Style lettuce. The house dressing set if off quite tastefully. In the typical French manner, it was served with crispy bacon slices, diced home fry potatoes, and blue cheese. Yes, I know it sounds caloric and self defeating but this is France. Enjoy! The wait staff is friendly and they have menus in English which takes out the guess work. It’s got a great location so that you can watch the passing parade from your outdoor table.

Went there for my first breakfast in Paris. It was decent food for a decent price. The service was pretty goof and the generous portions were a plus.

i think this place is overrated. a small bottle of San Pellegrino for 5.5 Euro? you can do the math for the rest of the dinner. the food was good average but this should have been three dollar sign.

I’ve been here twice and enjoyed my experience both times. The wait staff is friendly and the food surprisingly good. I’ve had both the salmon and serrano salads — it’s rare to get a good, hefty salad in Paris. Both of these were excellent and had great flavor. Let’s face it tho, anything with Roquefort cheese is going to be phenomenal…
The outdoor seating is also very pleasant. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Two Americans, a Brit, and a Canadian stayed in the 14^th Arrondissement of Paris for 2 nights in May 2014.
The flat we stayed in was right off of the Rue Daguerre, a fantastic street lined with specialty food shops near Denfert-​Rochereau station. We noticed that Café Daguerre was busy day and night and had to try it before leaving.
We went for breakfast two days in a row and were very happy with the food and service. One of our party (the Canadian) was fluent in French, which always makes interactions with waitstaff more pleasant in Paris. I had the American breakfast one morning (croissant, bread, butter, jam, an omelette, and coffee) one morning and a Francais the next (croissant, bread, butter, jam, and coffee). The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the price. Nine euros for bread and coffee is a bit steep, but the bread was incredibly fresh, brought in from a bakery nearby, and delicious. The coffee was strong and the juice freshly pressed.

How does an American on vacation go about objectively reviewing a restaurant in France? I was having such a wonderful time on vacation that I nearly feel that every place I went could have been a five-​star experience.
This was one of the many places my girlfriend and I walked past and decided to grab a bite at. I remember that it was one of the better lunches that we had and by virtue of my check-​in I can review it here unlike so many of the stops we made.

Le lieu est classique des brasseries parisiennes, légèrement chic et cosy, un peu bruyant mais pas trop.
Prenez un verre de rosé sur la belle terrasse où tout le monde s’exhibe lorsque les rayons de soleil se font eux aussi voir, toujours une ou deux tables de libres.
Les plats sont toujours délicieux, je n’ai jamais été déçu de ce côté. Attention tout de même, vous êtes dans une brasserie. N’hésitez pas à sauter sur les tartines, le pavé de bœuf, le tartare et les plats du jour. Les desserts sont intéressants quoiqu’un peu chers, sauf peut être les profiteroles un peu trop «industrielles».
Le service est excellent, les serveurs sont tous hyper sympas (parfois même un peu trop; ATTENTION ANECDOTE: je dînais avec un ami qui réglait la note entière, le serveur au moment du règlement nous a dit «il paye le resto et vous l’hôtel, c’est ça? Hahaha … Je savais pas si je devais la faire ou pas, finalement j’aurais pas du»).
Pour un apéro entre amis, vous serez comblés. Choisissez l’assiette de charcuterie, les tartines a partager, le tout accompagné d’un cocktail ou d’un verre de vin blanc. Le perfect est assuré.

Je félicite cette brasserie /​Bar parisien qui de l’extérieur a l’air de tout ce qu’il y a de plus classique et qui pourtant se démarque par sa flexibilité et son service sympathique!
Un gros groupe qui débarque de manière bruyante ça n’enchante personne un dimanche soir et pourtant nous avons eu une table, de la bière a un prix abordable et de bonnes frittes le tout servi rapidement, avec le sourire et sur une grande table préparée spécialement pour nous.

Au Café Daguerre, j’y vais régulièrement pour le déjeuner en semaine ou prendre un verre après le travail. Les serveurs sont au taquet et aimables.
A l’heure du déjeuner c’est souvent le rush. Du coup, côté confort, c’est pas toujours ça. Quand on y va en hiver, on prie toujours pour qu’il y ait une place au fond et né pas se retrouver sur le côté en plein courant d’air sur un mini tabouret. Côté nourriture mieux vaut se concentrer sur les classiques (tartines et salades), les plats du jour né sont pas toujours à la hauteur. Si votre plat arrive brûlé (ça arrive parfois) n’hésitez surtout pas à le signaler, il est changé presque instantanément.
En été, on profite de sa terrasse au soleil :-)

I asked for a table in french. The waiter responded in english. I ordered in french. He responded in english. I would not be deterred. I ordered dessert in french. He responded in french. Win.
The food and wine was all really great. House pâté, duck confit, crème brûlée… yum
I obviously enjoyed the service… I think he was having as much fun as me.

We stayed close by to the café for 5 days and ate here EVERY morning — such good value and the staff were very friendly. They spoke English and were very accommodating. Location was great for people watching as well. Highly recommended!

Successful French bistro cherry-​pop! Such good value for snails and amazing toasted tartine w. fries! Have to share these plates though as they offer some pretty hefty, yet no doubt delicious, portions.

Pour un café ou un déjeuner sur le pouce

Despite the fact our waitress was super awesome, this place was just really fun and cool to be at, right on the corner of Rue Daguerre.
At first the waitress spoke French w/​me as I tried to decide where to sit, then she overheard my husband and I speaking English and she started speaking English, but perhaps my pouting as she walked away to get our menus worked, as she returned with a French one for me and an English one for Theron.
As we’d already had a pretty hearty dinner snack just down the street, we opted for desserts. The crepes here are really terrific — and this is coming from a gal who has had many an excellent street-​crêpe. They are sweet, fluffy, and come with lots of options for fillings. Of course the fact they set the grand marnier on fire table-​side was a cute stunt we couldn’t pass up. The nutella crêpe was of course by and far the winner (when is it not?) — though my hubby also loved the apple tatin I ordered, which came with only crust on the bottom and excellent, pure vanilla-​ice cream.
Here is where I tried (finally) for the first time on this trip the local pastis (an anise flavored drink) — think licorice… and Theron had the grogg (hot rhum with hot water and sugar served on the side).
I loved our experience here and, when in the area again, will go back and try the dining options. I hope our blond, spiky haired, chain-​wallet wearing waitress is there when we return!

Our very first place we came to eat after we landed. Intimidated at first because the menu was all in French and, well, we do not speak French… but the waiter spoke English very well. During the meal we realized that in fact we are sitting in smoking section. We’ll have to be more careful next time where we sit; thankfully it was all outside so it was bearable.
The food and the atmosphere were exactly what one has in mind when looking for typical French dining, this was a perfect way to kick-​off our vacation. The prices reflected the casuality of this venue.

Terrasse incontournable du quartier quand le soleil est au rendez-​vous. La partie couverte et chauffée pour les frileux et/​ou les fumeurs sert de base confortable d’observation de la vie assez dense de la rue Daguerre.
Tous les critères d’une brasserie parisienne traditionnelle sont réunis: service continu, personnel efficace et aimable comme il faut, carte soignée tendance sud ouest avec un plat du jour intéressant et un large choix de bières, de vins et de cocktails pour une clientèle locale fidèle et routinière: elle y enchaîné l’afterwork avec l’happy hour.
Les planches sont généreuses et les plats du jour copieux vous réconcilient avec la cuisine bistrot. Les serveurs né vous forcent pas la main et respectent votre rythme… rareté très appréciable!
Ouvert tard, c’est une bonne option pour éviter les grosses machines de la Place Denfert. Pour un peu d’intimité, choisissez une des banquettes d’angle de la salle du fond: confort et ambiance tamisée.
Mon conseil: optez pour déjeuner à l’heure espagnole, c’est plus calme.

Le daguerre est situe au coin de la rue daguerre, Brasserie parisienne typique qui né désemplie jamais du déjeuner au soir, à tard dans la nuit. Une grande terasse d’angle, souvent ensoleillée, des rues passantes et piétonne en ce qui concerne Daguerre.
Du personnel rodé qui connaît le métier par cœur, spécial dédicace à Michel, une crème de serveur et d’être humain !
Le Daguerre à été notre repaire bière /​planche (mixtes charcuterie — fromage) pendant quelques mois lors d’une mission dans le quartier, et régulièrement nous y retournons pour un petit revival. Le dernier ayant été particulièrement mémorable !
Carte de brasserie standard et bien maîtrisée, Happy hour, planche, une carte des vin classique et sympa.
Bref, un endroit ou on se sent bien et où l’on revient avec plaisir, pour déjeuner, boire un verre, dîner, sortir à Paris quoi.

Toujours un accueil très chaleureux au Café Daguerre. J’aime passer du temps dans ce café par beau temps ou sous la pluie, autrement dit soit en terrasse ensoleillée soit dans l’intérieur intime. Les formules petit déj sont copieuses et à un prix correct. D’ailleurs, le wifi gratuit marche très bien.

A bog-​standard café that has a pretty delicious breakfast. I especially enjoyed the omlette, which was big enough for my wife and I to share and still delay lunch until about 2 pm (due, no doubt, to the copious amounts of butter in which the eggs were bathed).
The Café has good wifi, and is on a market street.

Awesome café located near our hotel in Paris. Recommended by the concierge at our hotel, we went back for breakfast, croissants, café, and chocolat throughout our week long stay. Friendly staff that speak English and very entertaining local crowds. Best baguette sandwiches in all of Paris! Fresh and hot! Good for people watching too.

J’en sors, ce n’était pas la première fois que j’y allais, mais le service y est toujours courtois et jovial. La cuisine est bonne et le menu assez varié. Il y manqué peut-​être un peu d’espace pour le nombre de tables, il est donc imprudent de laisser son verre trop près du bord de la table, mais ceci étant, ça reste un endroit où on peut très bien manger. En journée, ça peut même être un lieu de choix juste avant les courses dans la rue Daguerre qui est piétonne et très commerçante, une autre version de la rue Mouffetard si on peut dire.
À essayer si vous né connaissez pas.

Une brasserie lambda dans laquelle je suis allé boire un petit verre de Sauvignon. Né mérite pas plus de 2 étoiles car rien né la différencie des autres brasseries… Le coin est sympa, la rue Daguerre compte suffisamment de restaurants et de brasseries pour que je puisse en trouver un/​une qui a plus de cachet et d’originalité.

Une brasserie typiquement parisienne ! Bön, on né se battra pas pour s’y attabler mais c’est très sympa en été pour profiter de la grande terrasse de plein pied sur la rue Daguerre !
L’ambiance est jeune décontractée et l’on peut profiter de la situation idéale de cette brasserie à deux pas du métro Denfert rochereau et au coeur de l’avenue du Général Leclerc, une avenue hyper commerçante dans le sud de Paris ! Les serveurs sont sympas, le service est rapide et efficace ! J’adore cette ambiance mi-​joviale mi-​brouhaha !
Par contre, je né recommande pas cette adresse pour dîner, ce n’est pas très intime, on y passé simplement pour prendre l’apéro au grès des derniers rayons de soleil déclinants…

Si vous entendez un peu trop bien et que vous avez envie de devenir sourd, allez au café Daguerre. ce qui est bien, c’est qu’on vous crie dessus, on crie sur vos voisins, on crie pour vous demander CA SERA QUOI et pour vous amener LES DEUX COCAS et pour vous dire MERCI DE PAYER et même pour vous dire SALUT. Si vous n’êtes pas encore sourds, essayez d’”couter les blagues du serveur qui sont tellement mauvaises que vous finirez par éprouver le besoin de perdre l’audition.
Autrement, la nourriture est plutôt bien, et la terrasse est sympathique, sauf lorsque le maraîcher d’en face se met à hurler.

Voici une bonne adresse pour prendre un verre ou se restaurer. Cette Brasserie se trouve à l’angle de la rue Daguerre et de l’avenue du général Leclerc, l’ambiance y est bonne.
J’y suis allée plusieurs fois: avec des amis et la dernière fois avec ma famille. On y mange bien peut être la cuisine n’y est pas raffinée pour certain ou extraordinaire, mais elle est bonne. Je me rappelle encore avec délice y avoir mangé: un boudin noir aux deux pommes (purée et pomme cuite), et un crumble aux fruits rouges. On y a vu pour l’anecdote amusante Jacky (du Jacky Show, Top 50) ceux nés durant la période du Club Dorothée doivent connaître.
Idéal pour prendre un verre entre ami, dîner ou déjeuner.
