Had dinner with my partner here one late evening, on our way to see the Eiffel Tour. We shared a 300g black Angus steak, with a side of rice, black beans, fried plantains and a sprinkle of farine de manioc. Even though we were sharing a meal for one, the food was more than sufficient for us both. The beans were delicious and the beef just melts in your mouth. Our chef was also the owner of the place, a friendly, vivacious man who drank with us limoncello once we were done. The price was surprisingly low for the quality of the food and the size of the portion. We will definitely come back during our next visit.

This place was amazing. Surprisingly close to one of the biggest tourist attractions of the city, this small restaurant has spectacular food. I knew as I watched them prepare through a small window in the kitchen. Had the langoustine ravioli with artichoke mousseline, the cocotte du jour which was roasted duck with potatoes and a foie geas sauce, and finally the seasonal berry crumble. Great service. Small space, but nice ambiance. Great prices for the quality!

FL is how the French pronounce Eiffel(as in tower), the restaurant is practically located in the shadow of this world famous attraction. We had a delightful lunch here on New Year’s Eve. The waitress was friendly and her English was very good. The space is intimate and cozy, our bread was served on a skewer and not in a basket. The two course lunch was 16 € and it’s 23 € for three courses. We had the famous Ficelle Picarde, which is a mille-feuille of potato crepes, ham and cheese — it was light and divine and I wouldn’t mind having another serving. The duck terrine was fresh and home made, the fricassées of chicken was moist and served on a bed of vegetables thinly sliced like pasta strands, and the pork special was juicy and crispy on top of a bed of lentil and foie gras. We finished our lunch with a plate of delectable cheese. Nicolas Valanchon is a talented chef and it is easy to see that in his food, the ingredients are fresh here and the combinations are inventive. Be sure to book your table in advance, there aren’t many seats here so you will want to have a reservation.

The fois gras was amazing. Great brioche too and perfectly salted. Wonderful service too. If you’re near the Eiffel Tour, definitely give this place a go.

The presentations are lovely here. Definitely feels French. And artsy. After all, this may be the first time that I’ve ever had bread presented to the table on a skewer rather than on a plate or in a basket. I had the regional specialty — a cheesy and creamy ham crêpe. Yep, it was about a zillion calories, but it was worth it! My wife had the lighter and healthier crab appetizer. For mains, I had beef, she had pork, but well-prepared with the side dishes(whipped carrots, mashed potatoes) presented in little ramekins alongside. I believe both the mains were solid, but I recall thinking that the appetizer was the highlight of the meal for me. Service was friendly, which probably tipped the scales upward between 3 and 4 stars for me. I’ve got to say that seating was a bit tight and uncomfortable. We were at a high table, perched on stools alongside the kitchen in a narrow hallway-type space, next to the service area and the back entrance. It was sort of interesting being able to see into the open kitchen, but it did not compensate for the overall discomfort of the space. The food at FL is good, but it’s not cheap. For the money, I can think of other restaurants I prefer better(such as La Regalade or Café Constant).

This was my sis’s favorite place on our 2.5-week-long visit to Paris, maybe because it was her FIRST restaurant experience in Paris, and mostly because the food was spectacular. The waiter was charming & flirtatious and spoke English very well. Our food was creative(corn foam! who does that?) and light(our fish was perfect) and our«green beans from the sea» were tasty tasty. We wanted to go back, but alas, the reservations were difficult(apparently, they are #1 over on TA’s website). NEXT time!

Food; Wonderful, French food, prepared to order, by an expert chef. Both the food, presentation, and portions were superb. Service: The waiter(owner) was fantastic, highly attentive, polite, and his appreciation for our patronage truly showed. Décor: It is a small restaurant, seating at most 30 people with an open style kitchen where you can watch the chef cook. The restaurant is modern in its décor, and quite tasteful in its simplicity. Tip: Make a reservation. The place is constantly turning away patrons because of a shortage of space.

A découvrir !

A découvrir !
