I’m not big on Paris pricing, but this is manageable for short stays. Clean room, nice continental buffet-style breakfast. The bread in this town is simply unmatched, but that’s not because of this hotel. Downtown location, but beware of the dorks late at night in Place de la Bastille. They have bike storage as well.

Stayed here last week for four nights… This place was cheap and small but we didn’t need anything fancy for our stay. The rooms were clean. The main issue we had was the heating. It was very cold in Paris and the staff told us they had already turned off the heat for the rest of the summer. Apparently they do not have a system where they can have heat and an AC at the same time. So we were freezing every night…

This is a no frills hotel for sure, but if you’re looking for a clean, convenient place to rest your head this is a great spot. The rooms are small but very clean, the location of the hotel is very convenient to metro stops(one right across the street!) and the desk staff was extremely attentive, helpful and spoke excellent English. I traveled alone and felt totally safe here and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We needed a room to sleep in between long days of sightseeing and this hotel did just that with no frills. We arrived around 2pm and our room wasn’t ready so we used the free luggage room. When we returned around 6:00pm, there was a tour group checking in and there appeared to be some sort of a problem with their arrangements. There was only one receptionist and he didn’t seem to be in any hurry to resolve the situation, leaving us standing in the lobby for 30 minutes before we could get to our room. The rooms were small and no frills, but we’re clean. There was free wifi which worked ok. The hotel is in a nice spot, flanked on each side by a metro station(for the M8 and M5, providing easy access to Gare De Nord/l’Est) and the M1 was a 5 minute walk to the south for access to the Parisian sights and RER. There’s also an outdoor market that popped up about a minute away. Considering I got the room for $ 150/night, I was satisfied.

Oh man, this hotel was a total bust. I don’t know if was the heat combined with the less than awesome locale, but the diggs did not help. Okay, I admit it, I was spoiled in an amazing 4 star hotel in Prague before this, but the previous hotel in Vienna was an ETAP. Not fancy by any means! We arrived around 2pm expecting to be able to check in early, but apparently our room still wasn’t ready. After lugging our things into the free for all baggage room, my dad and I roamed the streets to kill an hour. We walked the Boulevard to La Place de la Bastille and found ourselves – two tourists – surrounded by gypsies and homeless people trying to beat the heat. After enjoying sub par dessert at the nearby Café Créolé we finally checked in to our small fairly tidy and outdated room. Sure there was a shower, a sink, two twin beds and a desk – all the basics – but not remotely the aesthetic nor services I anticipated from my research. The front desk was hardly helpful and essentially clueless about suggesting tourist activities, much less arranging them. Two nights in high summer season was € 176. Or about $ 220USD. I kept kicking myself for choosing this place as I found last minute deals for 4 star hotels at the same price that very day! I will give them some credit. I asked for a room with a view and we got a room overlooking the garden. Also, the AC was very effective at blasting the heat out of the room. And, in the evening, Bastille has a bustling nightlife with cafes and restaurants filled to the brim. If you find yourself in this dump, treat yourself to a lovely dinner at the nearby La Petit Boufinger. Close to Chermin Vert Metro(Light Purple line). Decent Buffet Breakfast is € 9, printing at the front desk is € 1/page.
