What a view from 704 I didn’t need to leave the room, but the city awaits. Pricey but sweet area with much within walking distance or a short metro ride away.

A wonderful find, a quiet boutique hotel close to everything St Germain.. .Stayed for 6 nights, loved the well-appointed hotel and its kind, considerate staff. Best rooms are the Deluxe w View, located on the 6th, 7th, or 8th floor. We had 604, a nice room but really the views of the city are not brilliant on the 6th floor. We asked to be moved, and were moved to 802. Lovely views of the Tour Eiffer, the Musee d’Orsay, and especially Sacre-Coeur in Montmarte. Didn’t try the very high-end Atelier de Joel Robuchon for dining, looked way too expensive, but did try the dinner @ their Bar Signature. Rather expensive for what you get, but then what isn’t in Paris. Do make sure to include their breakfast in your booking. It is delicious and extensive with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, all kinds of croissants, breakfast pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, your choice of american coffee, café au lait, expressos, fresh juice, really everything you could want in a very nice breakfast room overlooking a japanese-style garden. Again, wait-staff most pleasant, especially the ever-smiling Jemila. Well worth the 25 Euros per person. Best bargain for a meal in Paris. When a medical situation required us to be in contact with our travel insurance and agent in the states, the staff were most accommodating, especially the wonderful concierge, Christophe Caruso, who went out of his way to assist whenever needed. All the staff at the hotel were most gracious, especially the front desk clerks Alicia and Godefroy, and the manager, again a gentleman named Christophe. Our trip was cut short, but upon return we would definitely choose the Pont Royal again for our stay.

If you’re waiting for a table at L’Atelier Joel Robuchon attached next door, you’re most likely going to be having drinks here. We hung out at the small quaint bar area and chatted up wtih the bartender who is from Casablanca Morocco. a couple of Badoit and a the glacé later and we were off to our lunch. Oh and nice bathrooms downstairs…

I have been to Paris more times than I can count on my hands and always return to Hotel Pont Royal. There are several reasons why, first and foremost are the staff. They go above and beyond every time, Their attitudes are warm, welcoming and I feel right at home. Namely Christophe Carusso, the hotel concierge. If you need help or guidance during your stay, he is the man. Second, reason is the location. I like to do most of my travel in the city on foot, so this location is ideal to so. Walking distance down the Seine to Notre Dame, or Latin Quarter. Eiffel tower or Champs quick walk or over to Grand Palais. Regardless, location is key! Lastly, the rooms are a nice size and the cleanliness is an American 5 star standard. I have been to many hotels here, including the Ritz, and this meets their standard. However, it is a fair price.

This review for the HOTEL and is from Sept 2009. At the time Unilocal did not yet have a dedicated France site. Because of this experience I wrote to Unilocal at the time asking when they would have a France site. SACREBLEU! The service here from an American perspective was stereotypically snooty rude Parisian. Upon check-in despite paying for an upgraded room, I was placed in a tiny second floor room just over the hotel entrance. The mattress on the bed was so worn out it seemed there was a hole in the middle. I went back down and asked for another room, and on the 4th try got the room I had paid $ 400EUR per night for(basically a suite on the top floor). This was my very first time in Paris and I was traveling alone for business having just arrived in full business attire from the airport lounge. I felt like but certainly did not look like the Rat staring in Ratatouille, and it didn’t take me too long to start stewing! In searching for another analogy, I felt like Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther not having the secret password(«hamburger») to get the room I paid for. It gets better. I was there during the start of the American football season and I guess when in Paris I should not have asked but it was Tuesday night and as in every major European city there is an American sports bar showing the previous night’s NFL game. I asked the concierge to direct me to an American Bar that showed American Football. I was sent 45 minutes away from the hotel costing 50 Eur each direction, only to get to a midnight creperie. On arrival the cab driver told me don’t bother going in they did not have a television! I was pissed. Upon checkout they ran my corporate Amex card twice. They told me the first time it did not go through, went into the back room and came out with a ripped up charge receipt and assured me I was only charged once. The following month back in NY after receiving the credit card bill, I was charged EUR2,320TWICE! I had to call the hotel to get a refund which was not an easy task and even disputed the charge with Amex to get it removed. I was on business and other people from my firm have stayed here and have had similar experiences. The breakfast is very good and the only reason I gave a star(besides having to). The hotel is in a good location in St. Germaine(left bank) but I would never return. My trip was for business, I was as kind as can be making my best attempt at speaking conversational french and I was alone. I guess my biggest mistake was not asking where I could see a Renoir vs a Football game. Avoid this place at all costs!
