A n’en pas douter un des plus beaux temples d’une cuisine industrielle insipide et lipidique à outrance ! Vinaigrette en tube, créme anglaise en poudre tout n’y est qu’un vaste assassinat de la notion même de cuisine ! Fuyez !

I ate a lot of good food when I was in Paris in 2009 but there are few places that stood out to me. La Julia Restaurant Franco-Latino in the Mouffetard area of the Latin Quarter was one of them. On our first night in Paris my sister, friend & I were wandering the Latin Quarter trying to find a place to eat and La Julia was reasonably priced for a dinner menu and it was not too busy(only one other couple there). They serve French and Mexican food. I opted for the burritos(beef) and my sister and friend both order the duck confit. We had a choice of salad or soup to start(my friend & I had the salad, my sister the soup — both were delicious & fresh). Our main courses were next. I enjoyed my burritos — the sauce on top was so flavourful. The serving size were reasonable — just enough(something that I do like about Paris restaurants). My sister and friend absolutely enjoyed the duck confit — it was tender and seasoned perfectly. I actually tried some of their’s and realized that I had ordered the wrong dish! Don’t get me wrong, my burritos were great but the duck was just so much better. We then had dessert — I had a cottage cheese w/fruit sauce but it was not like cottage cheese I’d ever had. It was smoother — almost like a panacotta but it wasn’t as firm. It was tangy with a hint of sweetness. We also ordered the house red which was good — not the best but still good. We had a leisurely dinner — served not too quickly or slowly. The décor was not French or Mexican inspired. There was plenty of cherry wood and an Indian feel — I later found out that it used to be an Indian restaurant. It still worked though. I do recommend you give this place a try. Good food, reasonably priced and very laid back.
