This was one of our favorite meals and it was excellent all around. My wife and I both started with the chicken consumee made with fois gras ravioli and then shared a whole Bresse chicken, quite a bit for two people actually. Service was extremely friendly although they don’t have baby high chairs so we kept our baby in her stroller.

This place is wonderful. Get a seat at the counter & show up very hungry. It’s best to have a whole bird — suitable for 3 – 4 people.

More 3.5 stars as well, due more to the chicken being slightly overcooked. Nice venue, great menu and birds. Think the flavors were clean and simple, just think the 2 chickens we had were overcooked. Sides were good, would definitely try again and especially when in NYC.

A bit expensive but if that ain’t the best chicken I’ve ever had! The service was top notch, The staff very down to earth and charming. The egg-starters are a blast.

We arrived without a reservation, but we were lucky to be squeezed in at a long table among other visitors, which was surprisingly fine and not chaotic. We ordered the special of the day, which was chicken with truffle and mushrooms. The meat was so juicy and crisp at the same time. I think it is awesome to dedicate a restaurant to the meat that is so easy to make dry and boring. It was a bit expensive, but the great service, the environment, and the delicious food was worth it.

In the mood for chicken? Pretty good! Heavy on the butter for the vegetables, refreshing predictable salad was welcoming.

My FAVORITE food of all time! My picky eater son(who lives on Mac & cheese & chicken fingers, yuck) STILL talks about his dinner years later… wow! So fresh, amazing chicken, sauce, egg dessert, love the décor, 6 stars! I’d seriously go back to France just for this gem!

We had read so much about this place, mostly good, some, not. We couldn’t have possibly had a better experience. I attempted to make a reservation but accidentally reserved at another of their restaurants. Instead of telling me we were out of luck, they sat us at where I wanted to be in the first place, The Bar. We had lunch AND a show. It was fantastic. The food was without reproach. From the perfect bread and heavenly butter, all the way down to the dessert. Le Pain Perdu and Le Millefeuille. Even the espresso was deep, and not watery as I have found in many places in Paris. I would absolutely recommend this place. The chef and his staff were a delight to watch. We felt like we were at the Chef’s table. And we even made French friends, Luc, Catherine, and Morgan. It’s a rare treat to have the opportunity to share the bar and converse with such delightful people.(The French are often very private.) All in all, the perfect repas.

Le Coq Rico met all criteria for a great restaurant. But, it was more than that. The chef and wait staff were so fantastic. They answered all of our questions and invited us to see the amazing produce that they were preparing for their dishes. We had the fortune to sit at the bar and watch them prepare our food and we were able to see the Chef really create. We had the quarter chicken and frites with macaroni. The attention to detail was amazing. Although we didn’t get the whole chicken to share with the table, we saw that the chef plated the chicken, went to the table that ordered it, showed them the bird and then he took it back to the kitchen to cut and plate. We also had a salad that was so fresh and simple. Beautiful greens with the most amazing and simple dressing. We detected notes of shallot, mustard and wine vinegar that seemed to be of great quality. I had the La Brioche Perdue(a glorious brioche french toast with pear) for desert. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was. I ate every bit of it. My friend had Mille-feuille Chocolate, she loved it. I tasted the chocolate and it was heaven. I wish that we had found this restaurant sooner, we would go back again.

I don’t know how I forgot to write my review for Le Coq Rico, but I did. This is one of the meals that my boyfriend & I still talk about from our visit a few months ago! The chicken is fantastic here… it was cooked to perfection. The dishes are presented beautifully, the staff was superb & we left very, very satisfied with our lunch choice. Definitely make reservations. We recently had lunch at a popular Chicago chicken-based restaurant, and all I could think about was Le Coq Rico the entire time. My mouth is watering while typing this up!

Our best meal in 2+ weeks in Paris. A beautiful restaurant, stellar service, scrumptious food. I’m not even a huge fan of chicken and I loved the meal. We ordered the chicken described as «yellow meat» by the server that he recommended(not the most expensive one) and had amazing sides of the seasonal vegetables, homemade macaroni and cheese, and frites and I looooooved the salad. The gravy is beyond description it was so good and the bread was the best we had in Paris – crusty, moist, perfect. Good wine list. Desserts were fantastic. I would eat there once a week if I lived in Paris. The environment is chic, refined, yet relaxed. We were there with two teenagers and it was a great family meal. It’s on a lovely corner across from a beautiful, old windmill. Reservations necessary and well worth it.

If you’re visiting Paris you must go to the quaint little village of Montmarte. If you go to Montmarte, the brusse chicken from Le Coq Rico cannot be missed. The juicy, spit roasted chicken is expertly cooked. They present the chicken in its whole roasted form before cutting it up into manageable pieces. While some people might say this is just another roasted chicken, I say that it’s a delight to experience this kind of expert artisanal cooking, in the quaint little village. You’ve got to wait 45 min for the chicken, so be sure to order the chicken tartine while you wait. Best tartine in Paris. Side dishes left a little to be desired… but that’s okay, the chicken is the star.

My husband and I came to le coq Rico after visiting the sacre coeur and it was perfect! We came without reservations(although reservations are highly recommended) and lucked out with a table by the window! Without any hesitation, we went for one of their specialities: Le poulet Gâtinais selon arrivage. A full bird served for 2 – 3 people and a choice of frites, creamy Mac and cheese, or a vegetarian cassoulet as well as a fresh salade vert. All of this for 75 euros!(Depending on the exact breed of bird, the prices varied(e.g. The bresse breed chicken was approximately ~95 euros) After ordering, we had a few appetizers — but be warned not to eat too much bread or too big of an appetizer because it really is a plump and juicy bird that is more than plenty for 2 people for dinner. However, you may be tempted to nibble since you will be able to smell and see the aromatic chickens being cooked in their contemporary open chicken. Also, it takes 45 minutes from the time of your order for your chicken to be ready. So try to have some self control! Apart from the amazingly juicy, oversized heritage breed chicken we feasted on — the ambience was white table cloth but not overbearingly pretentious. Wait staff were friendly and spoke English, as well as were attentive and always cordial. Prices are not cheap, but neither are they unreasonable. You really get a good value and gourmet meal by French standards and can see many locals from around Paris coming into eat for their regular orders of chicken. I definitely would come back and also bring a friend or two to enjoy!

My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary here, and it was a delight from start to finish. The ambiance is dressy but not too stuffy. The staff and food were a perfect blend of traditional elegance and carefree joy. The dishes were fresh and daring.

We both like chicken, so came here because our hotel recommended it. It was a bit of a hike from the metro stop to the restaurant. Nice location in Montmartre with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. We had the quarter chicken(both white and dark meat) which was good, but not anymore exceptional than other chicken we’ve had. The best part of the meal was the«floating island» dessert, which I highly recommend if they have it on the menu.

There are many birds that have given their lives to make Le Coq Rico. Let me say that they have not died in vain. They have given their lives for a righteous cause. For there is no place on earth that celebrates the chicken better than here. Absolutely amazing. Do not miss the chicken shepherds pie with morels. It’s to die for! The roasted chicken has never been elevated to such a level. Bring three friends to share the whole roasted Bresse chicken. It’s fantastic. In addition the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you’re in Paris for more than 24 hours this should be on your list of places to try.

I absolutely loved it here. We came with family and I am in love with this neighborhood. You ascend windy beautiful streets up to Montmarte and the restaurant is on a beautiful street. We sat in the back and ordered almost everything. Chicken to another type of bird we don’t have in America. I truly suggest coming here. It is a great family style restaurant with super friendly people. Parking might be an issue. I suggest cabbing it if you can.

We took a walking tour of Montmartre, and our tour guide pointed out Le Coq Rico and said their lunch special was an affordable way to eat excellent food from a michelin starred chef– and boy was she right! Normally, this place would be far outside our budget, but for 15 euros, our chicken sausage, served with a giant side of crispy potatoes, was incredible. It was savory, tender, and even though it was sausage, the flavor of the chicken shined through. Paired with a 5euro glass of wine, this was a delicious lunchtime treat. Yes, it was a little outside our budget, but I would say worth it. Minus one point for the worst service we had in Paris– it was alternately rude and incompetent. I mean, we obviously got our food and had a wonderful time, but these servers were very snobby, and made tons of mistakes. Extra weird because we had grown accustomed to generally incredible service throughout Paris! Maybe it was just a bad day, but it definitely took a bit of the shine off our delicious meal.

I knew I couldn’t leave France without eating the famed Bourg-en-Bresse chicken. I found this restaurant among many top lists of places with Bresse chicken on the menu. We started with the giblets platter, which was beautifully presented and succulent. The chicken main dish, which we shared, was everything I’d hoped it would be. Service was — well, serviceable. They were slammed, after all. Afterward, we took a short midnight stroll to the Sacré Cœur for a beautiful view. Very memorable and delicious dinner.

I found this restaurant after looking through places to eat near the Montmarte area. It’s a cute little restaurant — it looks like it’s closed from the outside. It’s near a Moulin Rouge restaurant that all the tourists take pictures with. We ordered: the Westermann goose foie gras — It was like a foie gras pastry. It was very good foie gras, but it was a lot of foie gras. I enjoy foie gras in small quantities, so this got a bit much at the end. But overall, the foie gras with the jelly and pastry all complemented very well. I wish I ordered the apple and foie gras instead because that resembles more of what I wanted to try. Fish with lemon sauce — I can’t recall the name, but the fish was OK. This place is known for chicken, but I’m normally hesitant about ordering chicken when I eat out. I don’t think the fish was worth the price. Almond & Hazelnut crusted chicken — This was my favorite dish of the three. This was actually VERY yummy. I enjoyed the almond and hazelnuts, which added a unique flavor to the chicken. The sauce was like a mushroom sauce and was also very yummy. I was very impressed, and my parents also enjoyed the uniqueness of the dish. Apricot cobbler w/Lavender ice cream — The apricot was very sour but the ice cream complemented it well. I ordered it because of its interesting mix, but this probably isn’t something I’d recommend. I’d recommend sticking to chicken when you come to this restaurant. It’s good and the taste is definitely different than something you’d get back in LA.
