Délicieux ! Extrêmement frais, raffiné.
Une belle découverte avec les rouleaux de printemps aux calamars et une noix de coco avec crevettes à la vapeur et lait de coco.

Rien à redire. Un petit restaurant sans prétention, qui nous rappelle clairement les différentes saveurs de la Thaïlande et de la Birmanie. C’est bon, efficace et pas cher. Attention, il peut y avoir du monde …

Testé un soir de semaine, je m’y suis vite senti à l’aise: c’est petit, les lumières et la déco sont chaleureuses… C’est parfait pour un dîner hivernal !
Je suis parti sur des pâtés de soja (une des options végétariennes de la carte). Et je n’ai pas été déçu: c’est original et bon !
En dessert, craquage pour un beignet à la banane: deuxième succès ! C’est gourmand et croustillant, un régal !
Au niveau des prix, comptez un peu plus de 10 €/​plat + le riz (3 €). Les desserts sont aux alentours de 6 €.

Sometimes… almost all the time… when the weather is cold and rainy, you just want a warm, Asian soup. A friend studying at Le Cordon Bleu raved about the clarified broth and quality of meat here, and we just loved the neighborhood so much we wanted to go back. It’s a small, charming restaurant but we got there on a weeknight right at opening at 7pm so we were the first to get seated. By the time we left, it had filled up.
One thing to know is not to expect the phở to be like the large portions you get in the States. Though the portions are smaller and more expensive, you are getting better quality and you’re left wondering if this is what real phở is supposed to taste like.
Be sure to get the Bowl of «Red River» dessert. It’s a tall glass of passion fruit ice cream, mango, coconut, exotic fruits and sake. The whole thing was so delicious and I especially really, really liked the coconut shavings. My mission is to find coconut shavings like this in the States!

What a pleasant surprise to find this wonderful treasure here in Montmartre! With all of the restaurants here in one of the most touristic places in Paris, here is a gem that if you are a fan of good Asian food, you must try. Some of the reviews state that the portions are on the small side, well this is France. A good restaurant here is more interested in giving you a serving of something well prepared, visually stimulating and appealing to your palate. This place does it for me. The only draw back I have would be the slightly higher price we paid, though my family and I agreed that we would return regardless.

This was a little gem found by my travel buddies as we were walking home from the Moulin Rouge area. It was a random pick but I was definitely not dissapointed.
First impressions: I spoke Vietnamese and English but no French, and our hostess spoke Vietnamese and French but no English. It was amazing to use Vietnamese in France (we were lucky to have my roommate on the trip, who is half French and speaks the language fluently. We were pretty spoiled on this trip since he’s likeable and has the gift of gab!). I ordered for everyone in Vietnamese and even had a convo with the servers. It’s family owned and the food and service was very well done.
The phở tai was different from what we get in the states… The flavor was a bit lighter (maybe they went easier on the fish sauce since the French may not be that big of a fan of fish sauce), the cut of meat was different, not as thin. All the right herbs were available, which is pretty amazing since I didn’t see not one Asian restaurant (how did they get all those ingredients?!).
The beignets were delightful… They put a spin on it by putting (grilled?) pineapples in it. It made it a bit too sweet for my tastes.
The che was also way too sweet. I’m used to the traditional Vietnamese ches which have red beans, or coconut milk, or other Vietnamese ingredients. I guess this is the French version? Too sweet and too much. I wasn’t a fan.
Verdict: I recommend it for our Frenchies since it’s the best example of Vietnamese cuisine they have in France… But I prefer the Vietnamese food you find in Orange County Cali… The largest ethnic enclave of Vietnamese people in America and the largest population of Vietnamese people outside of Vietnam. Houston’s Vietnamese ethnic enclave comes a close second.

Small restaurant (although Paris every restaurant is small), but food is great. Reminds me of Vietnamese restaurants in Saigon (or Ho Chi Ming City) modernized dishes but still very authentic.

J’y suis allée le soir avec deux amies (réservation conseillée). Et il se trouve que de toutes façons, ce restaurant né sert pas le midi.
Ça se comprend quand on voit le service qui prend son temps (sans pour autant qu’on ait l’impression d’attendre une plombe entre chaque plat). La qualité des plats servis est tout simplement excellente. J’ai sincèremenr était agréablement surprise de voir que les plats sont aussi bons et raffinés qu’au VietNam.
De plus le personnel est très agréable et souriant, et les portions sont copieuses.
Bref, si vous voulez vous retrouver dans un endroit charmant et typique, qui vous plongera au coeur de la gastronomie VietNamienne, allez au Dan Bau! Que dis-​je, courrez-​y!!!

Top ! J’ai adoré !
Le bo bun environ 15 euros accompagné de 2 pâtes impériaux (forcément) compris dans le prix, préparé sur table ! (si vous mangez pas de porc, pâtés aux légumes ou aux crevettes, ajouté 2 euros pour ceux aux crevettes)
Les entrées correspondant à des nems ou rouleaux quasi tous à 6,95 euros, à raison de 3 nems ou 4 rouleaux à ce prix. Mention spéciale aux rouleaux de crevettes. Le mieux se partager les entrées à deux.
Au niveau des plats, le bo bun ok mais du basic, mention spéciale au farci au saumon accompagné de légumes, un pur délice !!!
Au niveau des desserts compter 6,95 euros comme l’entrée, je voulai tester le dessert de la baie d’halong mais ce dessert est à la crème de coco et je n’aime pas la noix de coco !!! Le serveur m’a affirmé que c’était assez soutenu en coco du coup j’ai pris un beignet flambé au saké et a la liqueur de lichi, beignet qui est flambé sur table, vous avez le choix entre banane/​pomme/​ananas, j’ai pris pomme c’était ouffement bon, la prochaine fois je testerai banane !
Seule chose a savoir; c’est petit il faut réserver pour espérer y manger.

c’est le genre du supplément accompagnement qui me gave, du riz! un mini bol de riz, ça né coute rien, rien du tout.

I’ve eaten a lot of Vietnamese food but the food I had really is just mediocre. The décor was nice but my craving for authentic Vietnamese food was definitely not satisfied. It was a good date night place with my beau but I would most definitely not go there again.

This is a review of their service and not the food.
After spending a wonderful afternoon in Montmarte, we were hungry for some phở and had heard good reviews about this place on Unilocal.Excited and hungry– we walked into their restaurant on a Tuesday night around 7pm. The place was busy but there were still a few tables open. Unsure if the open tables were reserved for parties but we were immediately turned away after asking for a table for 5 people. At first I didn’t think large parties were welcomed but there was a party of 6 sitting in front of us. When asked how long the wait would be– the host responded «an hour.» After agreeing to wait an hour, the host then said «no.» I went on to inform the host again that we were willing to wait the hour to get a table but one could immediately get the sense we were not wanted and unwelcomed there. After making our way out the door, the host quickly followed behind us– only to shut the door on us on our way out.
I would rather spend my money where I am respected not only as a customer, but as a person.

Un restaurant vietnamien qui sait jouer de la marmite, saké et baguettes !
— Une carte variée (feu vert pour les végétariens), des plats raffinés et des portions parfaites, un dessert maison surprenant (Vertus de la baie d’Halong)… Un vrai «thumb up» pour le cuisto !
— Le lieu est vraiment charmant, même si très petit; c’est cosy cosy quoi.
— A savoir: il faut absolument absolument réserver sinon venez à partir de 22h pour espérer avoir une table.
Je reviendrai pour tester les autres mets de la carte!!!

First of all, don’t read too much into Betsy’s review. The portions didn’t seem small to me AT ALL. In fact, the phở is listed on the menu as a starter, but I wish I had only ordered just that because I was too full to eat my main course! It is smaller than maybe the giant bowls you sometimes see at Vietnamese places, but is definitely enough to make a meal out of. Maybe she was just extremely hungry and should have had her own bowl, but don’t go here under pretense that portions are small.
For my main plate I ordered the bo bun + nems. The server came out and mixed it and finished it right at the table which was a nice touch. It was really good, but I wish I could have enjoyed it more as I was really full from the phở, so I could barely eat half of it! (By the way, it was also a nice sized portion). Maybe Betsy was expecting some sort of Chinese buffet so I will give her the benefit of the doubt.
Finally, we went at 7 on a Saturday night and had no problem getting a table. I noticed one table was reserved, but they didn’t seem to be turning people away. I don’t know if reservations are recommended, but we didn’t make one and had no issues.
For those who don’t speak much french, their menu is both in french and English and the waiter had no problem speaking English. They were very friendly and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

The food was great, but the portions were way too small. I shared the Phở, Coconut Shrimp, Curry Chicken, Fried Pineapple, and the Apple Donut Flambé and it still wasn’t enough food for two people. I know that sounds ridiculous, but the portions are pretty small.
Phở — had great depth of flavor
Curry Chicken — amazing, would definitely get it again
Shrimp — the sauce was AMAZING, wish I could have had it as a soup
Fried Pineapple — looked pretty, but could have made it myself
Donut flambé — not crispy and very limp and sad and the caramel was burnt
Definitely make a reservation because they’re sticklers about that. I’ll be back soon, but won’t be having any of the above dishes, except maybe the Curry Chicken.

Of eight days in Paris, Le Dan Bau was easily our best meal.
My companion had the coconut shrimp, which is served in the coconut with a flame underneath (don’t worry, they remove it before you eat). The broth and shrimp tasted INCREDIBLE and completely lacked any kind of fishy flavor, so they must have been fresh-​caught. By incredible I mean we both agree it was one of the best dishes we’d had in any restaurant, ever.
I got the phở in a sudden fit of homesickness, which was quite good – served with the (high-​quality) beef freshly added, just like it should be, with a tasty broth and the right balance of sprouts and greens. The ginger other reviewers mentioned was unexpected but actually quite pleasant, to the point where I may look for a place back in California that does the same, no doubt horrifying my Vietnamese friends.
I forgot what the dessert we ordered was called but it was the one obviously «authentic» option on the menu – and it ended up being a fancy € 8 version of the red bean drink you can get at any hole-​in-​the-​wall back in the States for $ 3, though much prettier. Clever.
Staff was obviously family and quite friendly. Our waiter struggled with English and we struggled with French, but in the end everything came out right.
Bonus points for the quirky «epic Chinese movie soundtrack» playing in the background. It sounds strange, but actually worked pretty well. They even have a subwoofer somewhere in the shop for the crescendos.

If you start missing Asian food while in Paris, check out this little hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant in Montmartre! The waiters are friendly and trilingual, they speak pretty good English too. My recommendation is Bobun + Nems, which is a bowl of rice vermicelli served with beef and spring rolls. It was 5 star worthy, yes it was that good! It was twice as more delicious than Phở! Phở was good but I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t come with mint leaves and raw bean sprouts which I’m accustomed to. It was too plain for me but you might like it. As for the dessert, my curiosity made me order fried pineapple which sounded very intriguing. It was an interesting concept but after trying it I came to a conclusion that certain things aren’t meant to be fried.
Lastly, I recommend getting there early because the restaurant is tiny and most tables were already reserved even on Thursday night!

Un dimanche bien passé
Le restaurant décoré de bamboo très ‘soft feeling’, une inspiration de la cuisine familiale de Viétnam. Des nems maison, salade aux Boeuf sont délicioux. Des crevettes au crème de coco, plein de saveur sont excellentes. Par rapport, qualité et prix sont très raisonable. Ouvert le dimanche.

Moi, j’adore ce petit (tout petit) vietnamien rue des trois frères. Tenu par des vrais de vrai (j’ai eu du mal à réserver, nos accents n’avaient pas l’air compatibles), les plats sont copieux, et bons. Nous en avons eu pour environ trente euros pour deux, plats, riz et cafés compris.
NB: nous sommes partis les derniers, bien après les autres, vers 23h30. Le restaurant était vide, et on né nous a absolument pas poussé vers la sortie!

Excellent petit restaurant vietnamien., à l’accueil convivial et à l’ambiance cosy !
Le bobun est très frais, préparé devant vous. Le dessert Les vertus de la baie d’Halong est surprenant, bon, très rafraîchissant !

Le Dan Bau was so good that once I got home, I had to write a review for them. The nem was perfect with the dipping sauce. The phở bo had a taste of ginger which i’ve never even thought would taste good with phở. You can also tell that they use fresh meat for the phở. The dessert I had was a contemporary version of che, and i absolutely enjoyed it! I was so impressed at how they presented it and put the flavors together. Everyone should try the dessert with exotic fruits and coconut milk! The prices are a bit more on the expensive side (9 – 14 euros for a dish) but i would pay for it again to try their other dishes (and this is coming from a really cheap person who usually rates down because of expensive prices).
If you want to enjoy vietnamese food, this is the place to go!
Come here if you feel like trying new cultural food and treating yourself out to a nice dinner.

Dépaysant
Cadre complètement, totalement dépaysant. La cuisine c’est pareil, elle vous fait voyager. De plus on a été très bien accueillis. C’est un petit restaurant qui né paie pas de mine mais qui est réellement sympa. Le service est courtois, pudique et avenant comme savent le faire les asiatiques. A refaire !

Voyage surréaliste à Hanoï
Ambiance chaleureuse dans cette mini paillotte reconstituée au pied du sacré coeur… A quelques details kitsch pres on se sens dans un autre temps et le service est au petit soins. Une cuisine de qualité et pleine de saveur. Une adresse que je recommande sincèrement mais attention IL FAUT RESERVER car c est toujours plein (une quinzaine de couverts seulement).

Vertigineux !!! Endroit cosy et typique. Cuisine purement traditionnelle. Un délice pour les papilles et un menu à moins de 20EUR composé de 4 plats Qui dit mieux ?? Une mise en bouche, un hors d’œuvre, un plat et un dessert Bravo !!

Aufgrund der positiven Bewertungen im Internet sind wir an einem Abend ins Le Dan Bau gegangen wir hatten Glück, dass wir gerade noch so den letzten Tisch ergattern konnten, weil wir es versäumt hatten zu reservieren.
Die Getränkepreise (sogar die Weinpreise) waren für Pariser Verhältnisse moderat, das Essen war sehr schmackhaft (sowohl die Vorspeisen als auch die Hauptgerichte und die Nachspeise), das Ambiente ist gemütlich, das Personal freundlich.
Leider hat das Restaurant nur abends auf (19:00 23:00 h); gerne hätten wir an unserem letzten Tag vor unserer Abreise dort noch gerne zu Mittag gegessen.
Beim nächsten Paris-​Besuch weiß ich schon, wo wir mindestens einmal essen werden

Une merveille
Un petit restaurant découvert sur ce sympathique site (petit, c’est le cas de le dire, il comporte 26 places) où il faut soit arriver à l’ouverture, soit réserver (plus que conseillé, le resto est pris d’assaut très vite). L’accueil est très gentil et agréable, toujours à votre écoute sans pour autant vous agresser. La nourriture est extra, nous avons pris des nems (qui sont, je pense, fait maison, tout comme les bouchées vapeur), des rouleaux de calamars à l’échalote (spécialité de la maison, extra, légers et frais), une marmite de crevettes épicée (très épicée, attention aux âmes sensibles), un poulet à la citronelle à tomber, un boeuf au feuilles de Lôt fin et savoureux et des vermicelles à la Hanoïenne (sorte de Bo-​bun au porc) préparé sous vos yeux, une merveille pour les yeux, le nez et les papilles … Sans parler du dessert de la maison, les vertus de la baie d’Halong, une fraîcheur très originale pour conclure un repas en beauté ! Le décor est simple et sans chichi, sans toutes ses babioles et pampilles souvent typiques de ce genre de restaurant. En bref une merveilleuse découverte qui va élire ce restaurant «cantine officielle», surtout que je bosse à 15 minutes à pied !

Je suis tombé sur ce resto vietnamien un peu par hasard sans avoir lu les avis précédent mais j’adhère aux avis positifs.
Personnellement c’est leur carte assez fournie qui m’a donné envie de tester.
Je me suis décidé pour leur salade papaye verte/​boeuf en entrée … fin et trés frais. Trés bien pour commencer.
J’ai fait suivre d’un Bo bun. J’adore ce plat et je n’ai pas été déçu … viande, nems, nouilles … rien à redire. Le petit plus, le serveur vous prépare l’assiette devant vous. Bön d’accord, ça change pas grand chose au gout mais c’est sympa.
La marmitte de crevettes épicées est pas mal autant au niveau de la présentation que de la préparation … même si un peu petite :-).
Le tout accompagné d’une Saigon Beer … mais pas de vin Vietnamien.
Service souriant, pas grand chose à dire … mise à part que j’ai trouvé l’attente un peu longue pour voir arriver les premiers plats.
Le resto n’est pas bien grand (une 20aine de couverts) et la salle est vite pleine. J’y suis allé un dimanche soir et le resto était quasiment plein des 20h30.
Niveau addition les entrées tournent autour de 7EUR et les plats 10/​12EUR. Donc pas cheap, mais pas excessif pour les plats de qualité qui sont servis.

Très bon restaurant vietnamien, qui se démarque totalement des lieux standardisés pour petits budgets adressés à qui n’est pas difficile et qui né cherche rien d’extraordinaire. Ici on propose une authentique cuisine vietnamienne avec des plats de la région nord du pays, à la limite du Laos.

Plats végétariens :

— Pâtés de soja farcis sautés sauce tomate.
Pour le dessert, laissez-​vous tenter par «les Vertus de la baie d’Halong».
Sur demande, la maison offre de découvrir l’instrument traditionnel vietnamien apparu au XIIeme siècle, le Dan Bau reconnu patrimoine mondial par l’Unesco dont Binh, le responsable de salle, se fait un plaisir de jouer plusieurs mélodies. Réservation conseillée. Si avec tout ça je né vous ai pas donné envie, j’abandonne.

Je né partage absolument pas les avis précédents. La cuisine est médiocre et les prix pas si bon marché, du moins si on a faim; 4e la mini dose de nouille, 6e pour trois nems …
Le staff à peu être l’air sympa, mais ils né comprennent pas le Français. On demande au cuisinier de nous préparer un plat cru, et il nous apporte une soupe fumante …
Le cadre est plutôt austère que conviviale.
J’y suis allé suite au bonne critiques ci dessous, j’ai étais déçu.

Un petit coin de Vietnam dans Paris
Ma femme n’est pas très fana de la cuisine asiatique en général, moi au contraire j’adore, après avoir lu les différents avis de cityvox nous avons réservé un soir et y sommes allés. Décor vraiment sympathique et accueil courtois et sympa. La qualité des aliments et la présentation des plats a beaucoup plu à ma femme (les bo-​bun en particulier) et depuis elle apprécie de gouter à ce genre de plats, vraiment un bon restaurant vietnamien sur Paris et qui plus est à Montmartre !

Je viens enfin de tester ce restaurant donc j’avais tan entendu parles.
Et c’était tout simplement super!
de petit prix ce qui est vraiment bien de nos jours pour des plats pleins de saveurs.
Et une service très sympa.
Je retournerais pour sur à cette adresse.

Eines meiner absoluten lieblings Restaurants in Paris. Es wird von jungen Leuten geführt die super nett sind. Das Essen ist vorzüglich und sehr preiswert.
Das vietnamesische Fondue ist ein Hit!
Unbedingt reservieren. Das Restaurant hat nicht viele Plätze und ist immer komplett belegt.
Der Besitzer ist ein Kunstliebhaber. Es hat im Restaurant ständig wechselnde Kunstwerke/​Fotos an den Wänden.

From the outside, this restaurant is not an obvious choice: located in a touristy area of Montmartre, it even has its menu in English as well as French. However, once inside you’ll appreciate that this is not another tourist trap but a great place for Vietnamese food.
The warm welcome is a nice start, and service remained friendly and good throughout my meal. The prices are very reasonable, and I had the set lunch which is a real bargain, with a choice of dishes. The food itself was very good, tasty and freshly-​prepared: a world away from the dull sandwich the same money would have bought me a little further up the hill.
Had the restaurant not been recommended to me, I would probably not have tried it. However, I’m very glad I did: this was one of the best-​value lunches I had in Paris. Overall, I was very impressed: this is a hidden gem in an area full of more expensive, more tourist-​oriented restaurants.
