The worst place I ate in Paris, unequivocally. Overpriced, rude, and terrible service. The waiter confined three of us to one, two-person table, claiming it was«busy» — in a restaurant that was barely 50% full. He proceeded to bring a € 8 bottle of water(price was never stated until the bill came) and open it without asking. He then took an order for French onion soup. 40 minutes later, still no soup. We decided to pay and leave, since it became clear our one cup of soup could take another 40 minutes. We asked for the soup to be removed from our bill, since it was never served. The waiter threw the bill on the table, gave a sardonic«sorry,» and walked away. The manager was unapologetic and indifferent about the whole situation. Guess what? Soup was still on the bill. Again, the restaurant was only half full. We only stopped here because we were next door at Longchamp, stuck in torrential rain. So if you’re stuck in a typhoon, maybe this place is worth paying their astronomical prices and weathering their supremely subpar service. In any other situation, avoid this tourist trap and pick literally anything else.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The setting was nice, we ate outside. The servers, though we thiught were pushy as we looked at the menu from afar, we actually very attentive. The food, which arrived quickly, was fabulous! My gf had the steak, very juicy whilst still medium/well. My penne was also very good and daughters Pizza smelled and tasted great. We’re probably going back tonight.

Best café in Paris! It’s located at Champs Elysées near the expensive shopping so this is no exception. It’s a fancy café that has the best hot chocolate and cake I’ve ever tasted in France! It’s definitely touristy but you get what you pay for. It’s right in the center of everything. You even have a view of Arc de Triomphe from this place. I took my friend here one night when she visited me Paris, we were looking for a café that was open late at night and I knew Champs Elysées would be our best bet. My friend ordered a cappuccino and I had the grand chocolat(hot chocolate). Let me tell you this hot chocolate was the best I’ve ever tasted! Most of the hot chocolate I’ve had in France was a bit bland. This was nice and sweet. You can tell that they use real cocoa. I also tried the moelleux au chocolat(pretty much a lava cake). I was craving chocolate that night so I decided to get moelleux au chocolat which I had never heard of until that night. Thank God I got it! I had no idea such a divine goodness existed on earth! It’s a warm, super soft type of mini cake that has a hot, melted chocolate center. Heaven in chocolate form :) Since it was located on the posh Champs Élysées it cost 40 euros for a cappuccino, grand chocolat, crème brûlée and moelleux au chocolat! thank God that it tasted delicious though! It’s more of a café for tourists. I wouldn’t come here for a regular cup of coffee because it’s too pricey for everyday.

Bof.

I’m very surprised by all of the negative reviews below. I really enjoyed having lunch at this place on a Wednesday afternoon. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating and although we did not have a reservation, we did not have to wait. Our waiter, who also seem to be the host that was pulley get people to the restaurant, was fantastic and very accommodating. We started off with a lovely vanilla coffee which was simply delicious. My Caesar salad was the best that I have had in all of Europe(& the portion was generous) so I’m very happy about that! I will be back here again. It’s a great place to take a break from all of the shopping that you will be doing at champs élysées.

Tourist trap. The food is worse than you would expect. Croque Monsieur was dry and burnt. French onion soup was absolutely tasteless — unless you like dishwater. Took 2 bites and didn’t touch the rest. Waiter didn’t even ask if I was displeased. No offer to replace it. Just took our Euros and ushered is out. Do not fall for the French boy costumes and hard sell as you walk down the avenue. Just walk on…

I’m waffling back and forth between a 2 and a 3 for this one. I got stuck in Paris after covering the 24 Hours of Le Mans for work, so my schedule was all screwed up in every way possible. When I finally got hungry, the hotel recommended Champs-Élysées as a fairly safe, tourist-friendly strip that would probably still have something open, and nothing was really open except Le Deauville. Whatever. Every place I’ve eaten in France has been ridiculously good, and what else was I going to do? Wait for breakfast when I’m wide awake with a rumbly stomach? This place was clearly aimed at tourists, but the responsive, English-speaking waiter bumped it up to a 3-star. That dude was on his A-game. There’s even English translations on the menu. Hey, they know their market: hungry ‘Muricans at 1AM. My veal was tasty, but not spectacular. Decently tender, not chewy, but not a standout, either. Fairly average, especially considering that even pop-up vendors at Le Mans were beyond spectacular. The bread was tough, but good enough for sopping up veal-juice and extra dressing. The scalloped potatoes were delicious, though, and that’s coming from a person who vehemently hates potatoes. Hoo boy, they nail you on drinks. I expected this with the beer, but decided to splurge, anyway. They had a French witbier I hadn’t tried yet(and hooray – not just gross Heineken in the land of wine!), so fine. I’m on Champs-Élysées, it’s full of tourists, it’s an alcoholic beverage, so on priniciple, it’s going to cost you your first-born child and a small piece of your soul. It’s also my last night in France and I had plenty of cool pieces worth celebrating from our Le Mans articles, so the joke’s on you, bartender – Fluffy Bunny ate my soul and I don’t want kids! Heh. What I didn’t expect(and should have paid attention to) was the water. 7.50 Euros for Vittel, the de facto table water at most places I’d been to in France. Cue Jon Stewart: *whaaaaaat?* There’s some kind of weird yacht rock/nauticalish theme going on with this restaurant, but a lack of an outright seafood-themed menu. That’s a little disappointing. I’m landlocked back home, and our seafood is generally awful. Please, bring me as much salmon as I can physically stomach before I have to fly back to Texas. I’m sure there are better tourist traps. I’d like to find the better restaurants that maybe aren’t as tourist-frequented if I come back. But this was edible and quick, so okay.

Food was average. Waiter was friendly. I ordered Caprese as an appetizer but for some reason the waiter brought it out with my friend’s dinner. So it was a bit awkward when my dinner came out almost 30 minutes after I finished my appetizer. Wouldn’t recommend it. Food was ok. Wait staff was ok. Food wasn’t timely.

I was excited to be dining at the famous ‘Ave des Champs elysees’… As we were walking, we started looking at the menus outside the restaurants to see if anything looks apealing… As we got to this restaurant, there was a waiter dressed in like a prisoner outfit started talking to us telling ys they have everything, salads, drinks, food, sandwiches… He wasn’t pushy but he ended up persuading us to go inside and give it a try… And we did! We were sat at the main dining area… Having no wifi before hand to see how of a good place that was, I asked him whether they offer wifi which he said yes… So I got connected and got terrified by reading all the reviews about the place… By that time my husband had already ordered a glass of wine… So when the waiter came back to get the food order, we kind of told him that the wine would be it and we are not gonna eat there… That did not make him happy at all! I felt soooo uncomfortable while at that restaurant… I noticed that the waiters have to literally hunt customers down off the street and whoever they get to dine there, would be their customer to wait on… I noticed even some sort of argument between 2 of the waiters because of this… Finally with some hesitation we asked for the check… We luckily didn’t get charged for the tap water so we only had to pay for the wine… But when we started walking toward the entrance door, one of the waiters dropped his whole tray along with dishes and glasses… All the glass broke into pieces… We had to wait for that to be cleaned… The whole experience was soooo weird though… I felt like the waiters were soooo unhappy working there… It seemed like the owner was this mean guy who was watching every move the waiters’ made… I might be wrong but I didn’t see any waitresses there either… STRANGE! Do yourself a favor and don’t go there…

It was around 9−10PM and I just left Ladurée(which closes at 11PM) looking for something to eat. Le Deauville was nearby. I know it’s a very touristy place with only 2 stars on Unilocal but whatever. The food was actually pretty tasty and service was great. I had the Fish & Chips and a white sauce pasta dish – both unexpectedly exquisite. Surprisingly, I would recommend this place while strolling around Champs-Élysées and it’s late(not sure when it closes but it’s open open relatively late).

We were looking at the menu from the outside trying to find a place to eat for our first meal in Paris. All signs from walking around the Champs pointed to the dreaded reputation of snobby French people. But a friendly Viet/French waiter approached with a welcoming smile. After some small talk, we bit and went into what was obviously a tourist trap type of parisienne restaurant. We were hungry and they spoke English. I do think most ppl in Paris speak English but just choose not to talk to you. We order was the special which was filet of chicken(aka grilled chicken breast). It worried the wife as she thought they said«feet» of chicken. The Asian in us got scared that we were getting chicken feet. Too funny as they meant filet of chicken, not feet. Turned out ok and a bit dry and cost 16.50 eur. I had a chicken and mushroom crêpe for like 10 eur and it turned out quite good as I am a big fan on crepes. Order simple items on the menu. A beer or glass of wine is about $ 8 — $ 10 Euros. Making the whole meal about $ 60 euros or $ 75USD. It could have been worse based on our other experiences in Paris. Paris is beautiful, but it’s a difficult place for first timers. As a New Yorker, I would imagine that a European tourist that doesn’t speak English very well would have a hard time here. Eating here is like dining at a Applebee’s in TImes Square. Something that a local would never do. 2 star for the food, 1 star for the friendly guy. If you’re a tourist then why not, if you have a command for the French language and know your way around Paris, then avoid.

It was approaching lunchtime and our hotel room wasn’t ready, so the wife and I decided to grab a small bite to eat before going off sightseeing. Le Deauville was on the Champs across the street from our hotel. We decided to give it a try despite its less than stellar reviews on Unilocal, since it was close and we were getting hungry. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and a glass of red wine. The wife had a crêpe and coffee. Service was adequate throughout our meal since it wasn’t busy when we were there. The wine was fine, nothing special or particular remarkable. My sandwich was equally passable yet unremarkable. Our check was around 25 €. Le Deauville served its purpose.

The food is perfectly fine. The escargot I had was bloody delicious. I also had a steak, cooked as I asked with tasty braised onions on top. It is not a cheap place, but the way they make big bucks is on beverages. After spending 18 € each on beverages in a half hour we ought to have been staggering out. The trap is drinks don’t appear on the menu. Basically, eating here is fine, just don’t drink anything. Not even coffee. I’d be willing to bet even tap water is 3 € a glass.

The first time I’m giving an A-OK score to a restaurant in Paris. We only ordered salad and café au lait, so the expectation was that the food to be brought reasonably quickly. Well, we didn’t get to see our salad at least 20 minutes, but that’s ok. I enjoyed listening several different languages coming from other tables. It was fun. The waiter finally brought my salad! Mmmm. looked good and tasted good, too. But we realized that our drinks were gone. We finished our café au lait while waiting for the salad. We saw our waiter and thought he would take another order for us, but he brought a little tray that looked like an ashtray to us. We were so confused, but soon realized that he wanted us to pay for the food and put on cash on the tray(we kinda figured by looking around what others were doing). After we put cash on the tiny tray, the waiter pulled his wallet out of his jeans pocket and gave us the change. Very interesting. The whole time we spent here, the waiter did not say a word. He was smiling and wasn’t rude at all. But we could not get the second café au lait, and didn’t know initially what to do with the weird ashtray. Maybe we should learn how to speak French next time. Yes, we should.

I did enjoy this little restaurant. The service was very quick, although extremely pricey. I expected this though. it’s Paris and located on one of the main boulevards. During my three week stay we actually went here twice for lunch while we were out shopping. I thought the French Onion soup was delicious. Really good cheese and super rich. The second time we went our waiter messed up our order but I won’t give this too much attention because we didn’t speak French and his English wasn’t very good. Understandable mistake here. I had the Croque Madam and the Escargot. I was pleased with the lunch, it was our last in Paris. When I’m back in Paris(hopefully) I won’t make it a priority to go here but if I am on the Champs Elysees I won’t mind stopping by again. The staff was very friendly too, in fact our waiter asked me to marry him. It was a cute gesture on our last day.

A tourist trap in the finest sense — you’re flagged down by waiters as you stroll down Champs de Elysee. The restaurant is very busy and the prices look reasonable so, what the heck, you get a table. After ordering, pull up Unilocal and see a dismal score. Oh oh. Why did I decide to splurge and get the foie gras? I know it’s illegal now back home and we are in France for heaven’s sake. Well, this was the wrong place to splurge. The ‘foie gras’ ended up being a slab of liver pâté — on special for $ 28(translated from Euro). We experienced the same level of let down with every other dish. The croque-monsieur was a skinny piece of ham between 2 slices of white bread, topped with some cheese and put under a broiler. The poulet du jour was a plain tasteless breast/drummette served with a cup of white rice. You get the picture. When the check comes and you see the damage, you feel completely let down, foolish, unsatisfied, and vow never to be suckered into such an establishment ever again. Lesson learned!

A EVITER !

A bientot!

Allez-y !
