Quaint little Café in the Latin Quarter in Paris. Think student area, lots of schools and institutes around and neat little streets to wander at will. While you may not happen to be in a touristy area, it is worth mentioning the Café is located not too far from where Pierre Curie used to live. On that note, I’ll let you guys research who that fine fella was(or his wife Marie Curie), and I’ll go on to the business: — They have what we call in France lunch formulas for about 12 euros or so. That means you get to choose an appetizer and a main dish from the menu, or a main dish and a dessert. Yes, it’s a great deal! And guess what: the food was fantastic. They have a unique selection compared to other café which makes it attractive IMHO. Think for example a mirabelle tart for dessert(look that up too, that’s a delicious small yellow prune from which a famous brandy is made in France). Trust me, the menu is pretty damn good and offers nice French staples! ‘Nut said — As any other Café, it has its selection of beers, wine, coffee and such. Perfect to chill after lunch and digest lazily while talking of politics, weather or work conditions in France. You know, your usual French conversations ;-) — It is fairly small, hence intimate. The service was prompt and the personnel very polite. As I was looking around at the wall frames and such, the owner came to me to explain why he had the portraits of the Curie couple on his walls. Very cool! Think someone cares enough about his business and the culture around to share away. In addition, waiters were not intrusive at all nor overwhelmingly checking on you every 5 minutes. When in a Café, I just like taking my time and enjoying my food or the drink I ordered :-) — The only slight negative(but not too bad) are the restrooms. They are located downstairs, from a flight of steep stairs and are not your typical restrooms. Fairly small and dark, not quite convenient to use. But clean overall, so I did not mind it. In a nutshell, go right ahead if you wanna wander off the beaten paths of Paris, and mingle around the student population of the Latin Quarter. You’ll find this Café a charming place to relax, eat and chitchat :-)
