Ton Hon

The price is good for the number of things you get: $ 10 for wine, a soup, a main course (with white rice) and desert. However, the food itself is pretty poor. The main courses are packed with cheap vegetable ingredients, thinly sliced, to bulk up the plate. My duck had about 30% fat on it, and since they don’t provide knives, I ended up leaving most of the dish (after unsuccessfully struggling to separate meat from fat with my folk and the folk of the person I was eating with). I had «lychees in syrup» for desert, which was 4 lychees (presumably) straight out of a tin placed in a small ramekin. I left most of the food (with the exception of the plain steamed rice which I thought might fill me up) because it wasn’t nice and didn’t feel healthy. I also left hungry.
In short, 10 euros is cheap for a meal, but I’d rather spend those 10 euros on something that I’d actually eat.

Ton Hon bills itself as the best Chinese restaurant in Paris. I can find no reason to contest that claim. We liked it enough that we ate there twice in one week. Among us we tried the shrimp with ginger, curry shrimp, lemon chicken, barbeque short ribs, beef with onions, beef with broccoli, beef with ginger, shrimp beignets, egg drop soup, and egg rolls. Everything was delicious. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy. My kids loved the complimentary shrimp chips. Our only problem is that we cannot take them home with us. Go try Ton Hon. You’ll be glad you did.

bon rapport qualité — prix et on se demande pourquoi le cuisinier s’ingénie à distribuer largement le piment dans ses plats à la recherché d’un incendie du palais ou de brûlures du 3ème degré des papilles gustatives?
C’est un massacre de plats qui pourraient être bons, mais comment percevoir la saveur du basilic dans le plat de canard ou celle de la coriandre dans le potage pékinois, derrière une coulée de lave?
Peut aisément mieux faire à condition qu’on lui enlève le piment des mains.

Un petit restaurant chinois, comme il en existe des tas en France et surtout à Paris, j’ai eu l’occasion d’aller y manger un midi, au cours d’une formation non loin de là, recommandé par le collègue qui m’accompagnait qui y avait déjà mangé (lors d’une formation précédente ;)).
L’accueil fut chaleureux et les patrons fort agréables.
Le restaurant a été vite rempli, ce qui né nous a pas empêché d’être servi rapidement, dans des proportions raisonnables et pour un prix assez bas (de mémoiré des menus aux alentours de 10/​15EUR le midi).
La carte est classiques mais efficace et on mange plutôt bien.
Si je devais retourner en formation dans le coin, je n’hésiterai pas sur la destination d’un de mes repas !
