Worst food ever! Steak was way overcooked on one side and undercooked the other half. Hard to cut, super chewy and tastes bland. Duck was also weird and tasted a bit sweet. My friends and I waited at least 30 minutes for our food after we ordered. Quite disappointed since this was our first meal in Paris(hoping it’ll get better!). Most places nearby were closed since it’s Christmas Eve so there weren’t that many options to choose from. I guess we were out of our luck and picked a really bad place… we couldn’t finish anything we ordered because they were so bad. The pasta that came with our steak was flavorless and dry, even after adding salt and pepper couldn’t help make it better. I also tried their French onion soup and it’s quite bland as well. For dessert, we got tiramisu and it was filled with a lot of cream and a little bit of chocolate pudding? I can’t even tell what I was eating. Definitely not the normal tiramisu I’d get from other places. People also smoke inside the restaurant, seems like that’s the norm here after checking all the available options nearby. One of the worst restaurants I’ve dined at my entire life. Had a really awful experience here. Please avoid this place if you can! Don’t waste your money here. Would’ve gone to McDonald’s if it was open. The food is probably better there than what you’re getting here.

J’adore ! Je viens souvent entre amis pour leur super formule: pinte et frites maison ! Que demander de plus ?! Le serveur est très sympa, le Monaco né rentre pas dans la formule mais juste en leur demandant ils sont très arrangeants et sympathiques.

Not bad! Limited but tasty menu but efficient and friendly service. Nice location across from the Rex movie theatre. I wish Unilocal allowed half stars, because I would really give this place 3.5 instead of 4, but for Paris bistro normale, this place is quite ok.

We came here for our very first meal in Paris. We started with the escargot, which were absolutely delicious, tender, and flavorful. We had a rib-eye steak that was accompanied by fries, a salad, and a bit of bearnaise on the side. It came on a huge cutting board. It was very juicy and delicious. We also had one of the evening specials with 4 types of fish. It tasted fresh, but my husband isn’t a big fan of fish with bones! The server was very good and extremely efficient. My only complaint would be that we were seated in an odd corner and there were little gnats flying around.

I’d been going to this café for several months, not because it’s the best around but simply because it was convenient. The food, service, atmosphere are all mediocre. I brought my friend there for lunch yesterday and the service was laughably bad. We were sharing an appetizer and each having an entrée. They bought my main dish out with the appetizer, and by time we finished the appetizer and my friend received her entrée, my meal had been sitting in front of me growing cold for 45 minutes. I didn’t complain, because I’d been a loyal customer and didn’t want to damage my friendly relationship with the server. Worst of all, when I returned the day after for a coffee, the manager told me I had to sit at the bar or sit outside in the cold. Now, it’s common in Paris to reserve the best tables for people who are eating, but I’d been coming here for months now and had always at least been given a table somewhere. This was clearly pointed, active rudeness. When I said that I was a long time customer, he said he didn’t care. There were at least 20 empty tables in the restaurant, but he refused to let me sit at any of them. There are several identical cafes in a one block radius, so I said i’d go somewhere else. He said«bah, VOILA!» and showed me the door. This café is a tourist mill, run by a man who favors a quick buck over building community. If just one person avoids this place thanks to this review, I’ll be happy. I’ve rarely been so badly treated and humiliated.

I am mostly a fan of this place because it has one of the best servers in france. Madeleine Bastille is a rather large french bistro situated right next to the Rex Theater. Going here was a spontaneous decision, which followed an equally spontaneous decision to go to a tom petty concert earlier in the evening. The problem was I was dressed for a cocktail party right down to the ridiculously high(by SF standards, not Paris) heels I purchased for the event. So, five hours later, I was starving and my feet were killing me, and Madeleine Bastilles location could not have been better. Tons of seating outside. Affordable. The cocktail list was huge. The menu was ok, I had salmon which was decent. The bread was yummy, and the crème brûlée super tasty and made so quickly. The one negative is the smoking. Now paris has a ton of smokers but people were smoking inside this restaurant too! Its great for an after theater meal, when you aren’t going to get a taxi any time soon and you just want something decent fairly quickly. And it also happens to be 12:15am.

Testé pour l’apéro, entre copines ! Le serveur fut très charmant et nous fit d’ailleurs un peu de charme. Nous eûmes d’ailleurs droit à des bonbons pour accompagner nos cocktails ! Miam ! Les cocktails, quant à eux, furent très bon, très gouteux et nous fûmes ravies de pouvoir échanger nos potins de nana derrière ces bons cocktails. La terrasse est bien chauffée, peut-être même un peu trop(?), donc pas de soucis pour l’hiver, les fumeurs peuvent se rassurer. L’endroit est très sympathique, le service rapide et sympathique: c’est avec plaisir que j’y retournerai pour ragoter, en sirotant un mojito !

Service vraiment looooooong… Un serveur est clairement sous cachetons mais ferait mieux d’en donner un peu à ses cuisiniers… L’entrecôte est toujours aussi bonne et les frites toujours pas assez cuites cela dit !

J’y suis allé plusieurs fois avec des amis et je compte y retourner car la cuisine est super bonne avec des prix corrects pour la qualité et la présentation! Après concernant les serveurs je les ai trouvé très sympa à chaque fois, c’est vrai que certains peuvent faire des petites blagues mais rien de méchant au contraire ça change des serveurs qui tirent la gueule et t’oppressent pour prendre ta commande comme on peut en voir dans d’autres restaurants… Sinon l’ambiance est sympa, pour les fumeurs on peut manger dans la véranda, les sièges sont confortables

Juste à coté du REX, Ce restaurant est très bruyant. Serveur arogant, désagréable et qui se moque du client(comme trop souvent hélas à Paris). A coté de cela, le menu n’est pas original et la cuisine très moyenne. Passez votre chemin!

Parmi les nombreux cafés un peu branchés qui occupent les trottoirs du boulevard Bonne Nouvelle, le Madeleine Bastille a du mal à tirer son épingle du jeu. Les tarifs sont semblables à ceux pratiqués par la concurrence, la carte est celle d’une brasserie classique et comme ses voisins, l’établissement s’est doté d’une terrasse chauffée et d’une bâche, fort appréciées des fumeurs. Le petit plus qui fait que je m’arrête parfois au Madeleine, c’est la qualité de son café. Il est rare d’en trouver du bon et du vrai pas trop fort, pas trop corsé. Un petit plaisir simple à né pas se refuser quand on passé devant ce bar.

This spot gets major points. We ended up here after a crazy, rather hellish day arriving into Paris. Our first hour in Paris was pretty much horrible, but after a trip to the Eiffel Tower and a trip down the Seine, we came back to the area where our hotel was. Being hungry, we looked for a close spot and found a real treasure. It was past dinner hours, but they had a good sandwich-like item on the menu(cheese and meat toasted onto a single piece of thin bread, topped with a bit of salad). The waitress was extremely friendly and really helped us acclimate to the city for the few days we were there. We always managed to wind down here despite where our Parisian travels took us.

Une brasserie comme une autre ! Vous souhaitez une brasserie parisienne, en voilà une ! La déco y est sympa(plutôt moderne), l’endroit spacieux, on peut y manger tard et c’est d’un bon rapport qualité/prix ! La carte est bien fournie, on y retrouve coquillages, viandes et poissons pour des tarifs très doux(dorade grillée et pièce de boeuf à 14 € par exemple). La carte des vins est, elle, plus restreinte mais propose une gamme de choix assez large. Nous avons opté pour un petit Côte du Rhôné 2003(récoltant — 22 €), très apprécié par l’ensemble de notre tablée ! Seul hic, l’accueil et le service ont été un peu trop«original» à notre goût. Les serveurs sont trop présents, un peu familiers et d’un humour un peu douteux. Au final, c’est une brasserie… certes banale, mais vous pourrez y «casser la croûte» sans trop de déception !
