Mon Paul

Lovely meal, charming welcome, great location. Exceptionally fresh food, with a beautiful view of the Place Dauphine and a very nice terrace. We’ve been coming to Paris every year for 15 years, and we are always delighted to eat here again. Great place to bring people who have never been to Paris before.

Accueil très sympathique dans ce restaurant traversant entre la place Dauphine et le quai des Orfèvres .
les plats sont à la hauteur de la réputation de cet établissement. L’oeuf mimosa est très bien, le foie de veau succulent .
le service est juste bien, ni trop lent ni trop rapide.

This restaurant is located on Place Dauphine, one of the loviest Paris’ square, near Pont neuf and the Vert Galant parc. The view is the only good thing you’ll find here. Everything is overpriced (example: 3 asparagus for 15 €), the sirloin beef we had was hard to chew and potatoes seemed to be reheat. Even if the profiteroles were good, this is a perfect tourist trap.

Je n’ai pas l’habitude de fréquenter les restaurants de ce quartier, partant du principe que l’on est ici au royaume des touristes avec ce que cela induit malheureusement comme risqué de mal-​bouffe et mauvais service. Pour autant en ce dimanche pluvieux de juillet, nous avons été attiré par cette adresse donnant sur la place Dauphine, un peu a l’écart des flux cosmopolites et du vacarme de la ville. Au programme des tarifs élevés, mais ca on assume dans ce type de quartier et pour ce type d’établissement, et une belle carte assez courte (donc compatible avec de la vraie cuisine de produits frais) de plats assez traditionnels des bistrots gastronomiques parisiens. Résultat, de très belles assiettes savoureuses avec des produits gouteux, des cuissons maîtrisées et des assaisonnements plutôt vifs: poêlée d’encornets aux asperges blanches, steak de magret de canard et sa purée maison, escalope de foie de veau au vinaigre de framboise. Plus assez faim pour les desserts, mais nos voisins de tables ont eu l’air de se régaler. Service très agréable. Bref j’aurais mis 4* pour des prix un peu plus raisonnables.

I’ll start by noting that I’m an American foodie who lives in Paris near Place Dauphine, where this restaurant is located. My husband & I have eaten there many times, and there’s a reason we keep going back.
Much like the royal Place where it is located, Restaurant Paul is traditional, old school French.
— Food: Classic gastronomie like beef tartare, fois gras, bass & a dozen other staples.
— Service: The servers & manager are attentive enough & care about their business.
— Location: Woody Allen filmed a scene from Midnight in Paris here, the central-​most place in the center of Paris. Neuf said!
I feel like the other 3 tourists who reviewed this restaurant before me expected TGI Friday’s selection complete with «flair,» with the same prices to boot. There are no nachos on this menu. The service may seem slow to Americans because French people take 90 min for lunch & twice as long for dinner, and that’s the normal pace here. It’s a good thing not to be rushed.
Make a reservation & sit on the terrace if the weather is nice — and bring your bocci balls.

Tucked away near Pont Neuf, this little eatery sits in front of a small park just opposite of the Pont Neuf point.
Outdoor seating is limited and they are open for lunch.
For my visit, it was during the week and the place had a few customers mainly drinking coffee as it wasn’t quite lunch time. The host was also the waiter and was more interested in sitting outside at the far end than waiting on customers. (FYI…I think this is a test to tell who is a tourist and who isn’t…folks from Paris/​France inquiry to seating… Americans or tourist tend to wait for the waiter/​host to ask if they want to be seated, so it took some learning on my part.)
I was seated at the far end at a small table by the door… now as a individual tourist… that doesn’t speak french hardly at all… I have found the «defacto standard» is to seat me at the far end outside… if you are individual tourist… just say no… why? Because if it rains, there chains are typically just BARELY covered by the awning, thus getting wet is almost guaranteed).
For this day, the weather was cool, but sunny, so the seating was fine.
Service was standard Paris… slow, unattentative, and indifferent.
The food was actually good and to other reviews here, also a limited selection but pricing wasn’t significant.
All the «so-​so» notations above were forgotten by me as a watch Parisans walking to and from work and home and children played in the park. For what this place lacks in what I desire, it makes up for in just pure good location.
FYI…if you consider this place, don’t fear, there is an eatery on each side of this establishment, so you can still enjoy this location but perhaps patronize other other locations.

The food was very typical French food and extremely expensive I thought. I have been to better way cheaper restaurants. The location is very quaint and quiet as well. The staff though seemed ready to go home which I was not happy about. The wines I thought were overpriced compared to other wines I drank in Paris. The desserts though were delicious. I had the mouse which was delicious and chocolaty.

Pour la charmante Place Dauphine
Avec une entrée côté place Dauphine et une autre quai des Orfèvres, cette brasserie offre une situation privilégiée. Côté cuisine, ce soir-​là, c’était plutôt morne plaine avec un aller-​retour de boeuf aux herbes bien pauvre en goût et des pommes sautées (réchauffées) molles et racornies. Mes amis semblaient un peu mieux traités mais né m’ont pas paru emballés. Même constat sur les desserts. Le Chinon de chez Couly-​Dutheil est formidable mais chèrement tarifé. L’accueil était plutôt indifférent malgré (en raison?) du nombre réduit de convives en cette soirée de février. Pas difficile de trouver mieux donc… et pour moins cher!

Endroit très sympa
De passage dans le quartier pendant les vacances de juillet, j’ai découvert ce restaurant très charmant donnant sur les bords de Seine. La carte proposée y est simple, mais de très bonne qualité. Je recommande ce lieu pour le rapport/​qualité/​prix.

Very friendly and helpful staff… a bit English challenged. Fairly limited menu… only a dozen entrees, heavy on veal and beef with a few fish dishes. Nothing particularly notable, though wines were fairly priced.

Pourquoi pas…
Vu de l’extérieur, ce petit restaurant est particulièrement attrayant, parfaitement situé sur la place dauphine et sa douce quiétude. L’intérieur est simple, peut être un peu trop, mais l’on s’y sent à son aise. L’accueil est convivial, souriant et présent. A la carte, des plats pas particulièrement originaux mais qui sortent néammoins des menus habituels. Les plats y sont réussis mais sont servis sans véritable dressing. Dommage. Le café y est offert pour qui aura le droit à une petite chenille dans sa salade. En résumé un petit restaurant dans la moyenne, qui gagne par son accueil et pèche par la simplicité de sa présentation. Pourquoi pas…

Kleines aber feines Restaurant im Herzen von Paris.
Die Karte ist recht Kurz, die Preise nicht wirklich günstig, aber das Essen ist hervorragend.
So muss es sein :)

Ein charmantes Bistro mit französischer Küche. Schon das Äußere lockt zum Einkehren. Nicht ganz billig, dafür aber ideal für einen besonderen Anlass.
