After a lovely tour of the Seine, we tripped into Henry IV for a bottle of wine. Very quaint, owner/operated, cosy for about 20 people total. We didn’t eat, but a couple who was leaving upon our arrival raved about the lasagna. If you’re looking for a quite, private, home made meal with home style service, this is it.

I am not sure how this place has so many great reviews. We ate here for lunch, and ordered le duo jamons. Way too much cheese for me. The service was nice and the restaurant is quaint, but it did feel like we were at a bar where the finest item to cook food in was a toaster oven.

Not sure how this place got five stars. But if you’re looking for food that’s been cooked, refrigerated then microwaved, then have at it. There is a great looking menu and specials on a chalk board. After the owner explains the specials, he pulls them out of the refrigerator to show you what he’s describing. Then low and behold, gives them to his worker behind the bar to nuke it in the microwave. I wouldn’t have minded if the prices reflected the quality of food. However, I’ll pass next time and choose a restaurant that actually has a working kitchen, where the food is prepared fresh, hot and tasty!

After a lovely ride on the boats of Pont Neuf, we were ready for dinner and happy to find such a highly recommended place just steps away. My fellow Unilocalers were not mistaken, this place is awesome. Think: casual wine bar plus simple food. They offer over a dozen excellent French wines to choose from by the glass, and the sole proprietor was excellent at understanding my broken French request for a recommendation of a «piquant» red wine. The Rhone he suggested was superb. For food, they have charcuterie and fromage platters, as well as a couple daily specials(the vegetable lasagne looked huge and delicious). The charcuterie platter was one of the best I’ve ever had, especially considering the quantity and quality for under 20 €. I’m sorry my 2 year old was not up to her usual good restaurant behavior(she was tired) and I’m especially sorry for the glass she shattered all over the floor. I hope an additional 5 star review helps make up for it.

On my first trip to Paris years back I stumbled upon La Taverne Henry IV. On that day I ordered myself the«le duo de jambons» or «the plate of two hams». I loved it, but what really stuck with me on that visit was my girlfriend’s order of the«Des Alpilles» which consists of sweet basil, tomatoes, eggplant and goat’s milk cheese«au gratin» style. This was so incredibly good that it stuck with me for years. When I returned back to Paris this past winter, the one place I absolutely had to visit again in the entire city was La Taverne Henry IV. The memory of the«Des Alpilles» had become an obsession of mine over the years — and nothing was going to keep me from making my way to Taverne Henry IV to taste it again. I swear on my life, it is really that good. So yes, I cannot recommend the«Des Alpilles» enough. If you come to Taverne Henry IV and you do not order the«Des Alpilles» you are definitely missing out on something special. Is there more to the La Taverne Henry IV than just the«Des Alpilles»? Absolutely! This is an adorable small café located right at Ponte Neuf. The staff is incredibly friendly and well worth the visit. It is not one of those touristy places that are all too common along the lle de la Cite. There is a great menu to choose from and an excellent wine selection to boot. Highly recommend visiting during the lunch hour. When in Paris — definitely make your way to La Taverne Henry IV — try the«Des Alpilles» — I promise you won’t forget the experience.

Excellent food . For first time I finished my plate … It’s family operated … And it’s so cozy … For sure I will tell me friends about this place . Love it and I wish the best to the owner …

A superb little place. We had excellent charcuterie, well chosen cheeses, very good duck terrine, and a terrific composed salad. The décor suggests a humble place with unexceptional, competent food. It’s misleading. It’s a humble place with exceptional food and wines.

This is hands down the BEST meal we had in Paris. Like others have said it is very easy to pass it up and it would definitely be a shame. From the service to the food, everything was top notch! The owner was very warm and friendly. She even called to get on our river cruise times for us. The food was to die for. If ever I get the chance to visit Paris again, this will definitely be on my list.

Tucked away on the tip of Ile de la Cite, it’s easy to pass this place by. That would be a shame! This has been a must stop on my trips to Paris for artisan charcuterie and quality wine by the glass. A winner is the«plat du porc» which delivers what it promises, a platter of porky goodness including headcheese, pâté, rilettes, spectacular garlic sausage and the dreaded andouillettes(which I let my husband try without telling him what they were). Order this with a glass of Cremant — tres bien! For a touristy locale, this little wine bar is surprisingly tourist free.
