On a very rainy last day in Burgundy, we found ourselves needing to kill a few hours before taking the train back to London, and having(over-)indulged on wine, wonderful lunches and dinners for several days, we weren’t sure if we even wanted a last meal. But we decided to poke our head in the door here, and immediately felt a welcome vibe. This«family» place is in the main(?) square in Savigny Les Beaune. It is not a high-end restaurant, by any means. Rather it is a welcoming, straight-forward brasserie with a healthy pizza business as well. People of all types were having their mid-day Sunday meal. I couldn’t resist trying the beef bourguignon, with one final glass of bourgogne rouge. My wife tried the«steak-frites» or more accurately, the entrecôte with fries. Keeping in mind that this is a type of place that even a truck driver would feel comfortable stopping into, these dishes were equal in taste and quality to anything we had on our entire trip.
