Nipping in to this new place on a quiet Wednesday, I was glad to see they were open late, unlike some other healthy food places in the area that shut at five. I do love a good marinade that involves ingredients I am short of, so I chose the middle eastern chicken. From four«bases» I picked mixed greens and spinach, not feeling like rice and already having swey potato that day. The greens were just more leaves, which really should include the spinach and give way to another option. It was like just munching on a bog standard green salad I could make myself out of a few bags. The chicken was tasty but the pieces far too big. The feta and peppers were too sparse and the sumac dressing just tasted of ordinary oil. Completely unbalanced and not worth the € 7.95 charged. I also was looking at the blackboards which said their bread was sought locally, but there was none of it on the menu, same with other ingredients. The last who served me seemed reluctant to give me a small glass of tap water. Won’t be darkening their door again, too much style and not enough for sustenance. Gah.

FOOD Healthy, tasty, generous portioned and great value. You order by picking a meat, then 2 salad options and can top it with a choose of 3 things, e.g. seeds, nuts, etc. I’ve tried many of their options and all impress, my fave is the middle eastern chicken! They do offer a breakfast menu but for me, this hasn’t really impressed, over priced and not very flavoursome… For me, it’s all about their main salad menu. SERVICE/STAFF Prompt and efficient, great for a quick grab. There’s not much seating inside so often I’m ordering to go however they do have some outdoor seating, so when the summer permits you’ve better chance of bagging a seat. Their menu, for a first time visitor is a lot to take in and I feel the staff could do a little more to help those break it down, I know it makes sense but it’s a lot to take in when you’re eying up the menu and staff are looking to quickly serve them, if you spot a newbie, why not help them… A quick friendly bit of verbiage could speed things up :-)

I came on a Saturday so it was all day(closes at 3pm) only breakfast which was quite disappointing, but I ordered the breakfast bowl(with smoked salmon instead of bacon and chorizo). It was not bad, and they have a lot of egg based dishes like their egg pots as well as other healthy kind of things like porridge and smoothies. The staff were very friendly and gave me a few recommendations as I was quite indecisive. The inside is on the small and narrow side, and everything is served take-away style even if you decide to sit in(i.e. in cardboard boxes with plastic cutlery and takeaway cups for coffee). I also got an Americano which was heavenly, probably the best coffee I’ve ever tasted! Looking at the weekday lunch menu and pictures on Unilocal,it looks so much more tastier so I think I’d have to come on a weekday to give this place justice and a more fair review. I did note that a good few customers came in and left immediately without ordering, probably disappointed after finding out it was only the breakfast menu on Saturday… I think I would have given this place 5 stars if it weren’t for that. Also I’m not fond of eating in paper boxes and using paper cutlery as it’s quite messy and harder to use. Overall, interesting and healthy menu, friendly staff and better for a take-away more so than sitting in as there’s not much in the way of seating. Also very hipster-y.

With a great lunch spot comes a great queue. Thankfully this one hammers along! Food is great, staff are friendly and plenty of value for money. If you’re looking for something reasonably healthy and very tasty, you can’t go wrong here! Great coffee too!

Their lunch boxes are a real treat! I love their vegetarian options, and am impressed with how well their staff handle the long queues during lunch hours. Why not 5 stars? I find their matcha latte and healthy treats could be better value for money, and I’d appreciate it if they wouldn’t shut down their hot drinks service at 4 pm. If you are looking for a place with more seating, check out their much larger new location on Hatch Street.

I’m a big fan of epic salads and Cocu never lets me down. It’s very fresh and has a clear, simple menu that lets you build your salad. Their dressings are very tasty, and complement the main ingredients perfectly. The variety of toppings are great quality and have inspired me for whenever I’m making my own salads at home.(I’d definitely recommend the roasted sweet potato) Also don’t be fooled that it’s «just a salad». It will fill you up and leave you feeling satisfied for the rest of the day. There’s a few seats available but it’s predominately takeaway, so if it’s a nice day head on up to the canal for a picnic or go back home/to the office and enjoy in comfort.

Love this place. They make really good and healthy food at mortal prices. You would typically go here for breakfast or lunch and bring this back to work or eat in the park. They fit 4 – 6 people in the store, but usually make for take-away. Coffee is great as well, so due head here if you are on Baggot street and need good coffee(3FE can be such a long walk XD)

My top place in the city to grab a quick lunch! Each is as good as the last! I’ve tried them all except for the tofu and the vegetarian… Although, the salmon, there are no words! So tasty! Only downfall is that if you go too late in the afternoon they tend not to have the selection of salads after being so busy, but sure hey, that’s a good complaint!

Just adding a quick update — I finally tried their salads and WOW. Vietnamese chicken is so good. You can pick what base you want — I usually go for either spinach/mixed greens, and sweet potato cubes. For an extra 1 Euro, you can get a baked sweet potato with hummus on top. The chicken is perfect — so much flavor. The sweet potato helps to keep you full. The lines get pretty crazy after 12pm. Also, it’s not consistent how much food you get — sometimes you get a bigger piece of chicken, sometimes smaller. Sometimes you get more salad base, sometimes less.

My regular coffee spot ! Lovely little place they have. Staff are always super chatty and friendly. The do some great healthy breakfasts aswell here, and lunches for that matter . But be warned ! These place does be jammers around lunch time! The Q moves fairly fast but it is always out the door. Earlier you can get there the better. There’s 2 baristas there one blonde girl and one guy. Both are good but the girl really makes a serious cup of coffee ! So I’d keep a eye out for her. My favourite place to pick one up :)

Tried out this place for breakfast over the weekend and quickly became addicted to the overwhelming hispterness of the place. The fact that the food is damn good is a happy plus too. The menu is simple and offers only a few options, my favourite kind of menu as I’m the sort who easily becomes overburdened with choice(first world problems). The interior has a lovely wooden finish to it that makes it feel like it’s still a work-in-progress but, that’s like, totally cool man. There’s a long wooden bench on one side of the room & a few chairs & tables outside, perfect for summer vibes(if it happens to be sunny in Ireland) I went for the *organic* eggs & homemade beans and also a matcha green tea latte. Well the matcha tasted great, but the eggs & beans were really scrumptious. They came out in a cardboard box which actually just worked given the style of the place. It’s a good sign when you’re eating the food of a place that all you can think about is what everything else on the menu tastes like. I’ll update with pics when I inevitably return. In short: A cool place to start your day & my new favourite place for weekend breakfasting. Those eggs though.

Friendly employees, a good choice of salad boxes(beef shin is excellent), and optional extras if you’re really hungry. Also delicious coffee from Roasted Brown.

Nice place for an healthy option for lunch. The place is a bit busy at the moment as it as just opened so at lunch time I had to wait around 5 minutes to order. Tried the baked salmon salad with spinach and sweet potatoes and was really good. After taking my order to take away it was quite fast. They offer wide variety of salad and you can pay a bit extra for some extra ingredients. Each salad costs about 7.95 €.

I was here for Cocu’s grand opening on friday of last week. Now, I expected mistakes to happen, which did, since it was their first day open. The tills broke as soon as they opened the doors, and we did have to wait a little past when they said they were opening because the staff weren’t ready yet. Service was slow, but in fairness, there was a long line of people out the door. When you order, you select a main(the meat or main veggie part of your meal), your base(rice, greens, etc), and a sprinkle topping. I went for the Vietnamese chicken, on brown rice with spinach and crushed almonds. It came with a peanut butter vinaigrette, which was light enough to flavour the dish, but not too oily or overpowering. As someone else posted, the servings do look small. But, that being said, I was fairly full after eating mine, so I think it may just look a bit small because of the container it was in. I do, however, wish there had been more meat on my dish. My serving was definitely less than one full chicken fillet. BUT, the chicken that was on there was SO tender and juicy. Their breakfast menu looks like quite good, and I look forward to going back and checking out the breakfast menu. It’s nice having more healthy options available for lunch in this area, and it’s a fairly good price for lunch(7.50 for the box of food unless you get extras). The juices and other drinks there are more than I would pay, but price wise their food is pretty much the same as a burrito/bowl at tolteca across the street. This place is good, and has promise. It just needs to work out a few kinks before I can give it more stars. If their meat portions were just a bit larger, and they can get into a groove where they speed their service up, I’d say this place will do great.
