Just home after a unacceptable and degrading experience at Hill Billys on Grand Parade. I know they probably have to deal with some obnoxious people now and then who have had to much to drink and may even think that most people at this time of night have a few. I had not been out drinking.
I came to the door and left a couple go in before me before because they were a little messy. I was the only one standing at the door taking my Daughters order when one of tge staff closed the door in my face - indicating that he was just closing for a sec. But then he proceeded to lock the door.
I went to the open exit door and said to that's very rude to close the door in someones face and lie. He said sorry but my manager told me. I then said is that your manager (his the only one wearing a white shirt). I spoke to him and said that just shutting the door in my face is rude and not on. He said something or other but wasn't sure what he said. I repeated. my self.
The manager must of thought i was someone on the beer that was causing hasel etc... He then told me to F××k off. More unacceptable basic customer service. I thankfully I didn't lower myself in returning with such foul language even though treated in such gross and unprofessional manner. I ask for his name, which refused to give (as i intended to make a complaint) He repeated his foul language. This is embarrassing to be spoken to in such a manner by a member of staff, even more so by a manager. Defamation of my character in front of others.
This is terrible treatment of customers and the thought that if it was my daughter instead of me is unthinkable.
Even if someone was drunk and out of order in some fashion- such behavior from staff and especially management is unacceptable. One understands the frustrations such staff may feel ( I worked in chippers as a teen - now in my 50's) but this is shocking unprofessional disrespectful public behavior, never mind customer service.
I will be letting everyone I know, my daughters and there friends not purchase from Hilly Billy's, for if this is how they treated a sober man buying food for their daughter, what does it say about how they would treat some young person, others who have a complaint and there I say other aspects of the quality of there food - how far does their disrespect go.
PS at least the cinema and the walk around town with my wife was good. And my daughter is now home safe and got food from a more worthy place of our custom.

Boob in a bun. Boob in a bun. Boob in a bun. The ultimate hangover magic. It’s fast food, good service, pretty clean. You really don’t care though, as long as you get your boob.

Almost five euro for the coveted breast in a bun that was just a cheap tasting chicken burger

The three star rating isn’t really based on the food. The food only tastes good when it’s 2.30am on a Sunday morning when you’re tired, emotional and waiting for a taxi to take you home and watching the fountain fights and occasionally hoping for a Hillbillys score. Then and only then is it worth visiting Hillbillys for a taste of Cork culture.

Just as all the other reviews say, this is the place to go in cork after a great night out. Yes its fast food but the breast in a bun is what you need to order here. It aint gourmet but it is delicious. The queues outside can be crazy but that should say it all really

I’m smiling to myself reading all the reviews, go here«After the beers, after a night out…» and this is because it’s exactly what I was going to write. Many a night I’ve queued up with my fellow comrades, After a few drinks I’ve always thought it the most delicious food ever! But the truth be told I may not have been in the best mindset to make an accurate judgement on that! Their famous breast in a bun is always much more delicious after a few drinks than it is sober! Any time I’ve tried hillbillies sober, I’ve always found it’s not as amazing as I remembered, perhaps this is due to the lack of merriment or atmosphere, or general shenanigans that you experience at a chipper queue at 2 in the morning! Having said that I’ve always been happy with my experience here, before or after drinks! But I would recommend after drinks ;)

Hillbilly’s is good for one thing, and one thing only: a breast in a bun after a night on the beers. Getting one of these, and talking shite with the people in the queue outside are a Cork tradition. Beware though, because Hillbilly’s food is like Cinderella in reverse. Eat it anytime before midnight, or while sober, and you won’t be happy.

after a night out drinking you must go to hillbillys atleast once and get a breast in a bun. The fried chicken there is wonderful and there are many other options as well. try Chips and gravy because it is a chicken based gravy which you wont get very often in cork. There is always a line at 2AM so try to get there early or make sure you have friends in the line with you

When you’re a pregnant Corkonian in the UK, it’s only then the importance of Hillbilly’s dawns.

I just had the«breast in a bun» sandwich and it was very similar to a Chik Fil-a sandwich. Yummy!

great fried chicken. i’m not sure why the states cant make chicken this way. I assume its because the chickens aren’t loaded with crap.

The best chicken in Cork bar none. Hillbillies is definately the place to go after a night on the town. Their own special recipe chicken is gorgeous. And dont forget the gravy, smashing! The original breast in a bun, you have to try it to believe it.
