Idaho Cafe

The food was great (sandwich and salad) and the prices inexpensive. The staff was extremely friendly! Overall an enjoyable place to relax and meet up with friends.

Tasty gaff for lunch. Tomato and bean soup was simply amazing, and the chili chicken bap was quite good as well. Service was fantastic, our waitress was lovely (and helped idiotic me in getting into the bathroom… the lock in the door needs a bit of work!). Small room though, so can get cramped in there, especially at peak times so be warned!

Small but cozy, the Idaho Café offers good service, good food and — believe me! — good coffee for all those who are tired of the good old take away during lunch time.
Don’t expect a big fancy menu, as the options are limited yet delicious, with some very interesting veggie-​friendly options. ;) I don’t quite know how often they change the lunch menu, but the existence of a daily special implies that there must be some new interesting new dishes to try every so often.
A mistake I did and should prevent you from doing: save space for the post-​meal coffee! They are delicious. Try the Viennese coffee — espresso topped with whipped cream! Nomnomnom.
The big downside is that they don’t accept cards, only cash — so make sure to pass by an ATM before coming here. I know, I know, that’s bad. The super friendly staff will help you feel like it’s worth it. :)

A great place .
This was our breakfast «go to «during a four day visit. As my daughter put it «Great food, amazing service, everything a café should be.» and we all agreed.

Went here back in April for a quick bite to eat. It is such a quaint and welcoming place. I got a delicious sandwich and my sister the shepherds pie. Both wonderful. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Cork.

Fabulous ambience, excellent coffee and the coffee cake is divine. My fish pie was ordinary and lacked flavour but the rest was excellent. Would happily come back here anytime.

The best café in Cork, simple as. Amazing staff, wonderful atmosphere, beautiful location. The food is delicious, and there’s a great selection on the menu. I’m hopelessly addicted to their Viennese coffee. It’s the perfect place for a coffee while you’re in town, and I can’t think of anywhere as good.

IDAHO CAFE (09.07.10)
Downtown for a few hours today, principally to say Bön Voyage to the Clipper 09 – 10 race as the ten racing boats left the city quays on the last leg of their 35,000 mile trip around the world.
Took a walk in the rain over to the Idaho Café for a slightly early lunch. I choose the Potato and Gubbeen Cheese with Bacon and was glad that I did. I could have eaten the Morris Piper potatoes on their own but, mixed with the Gubbeen, the combination was unbeatable.
The Café is small but comfortable enough. Service is friendly and efficient and the cooking is top class. My main course, with a small salad, cost € 11.00.
IDAHO CAFE
Called to the Idaho Café in Maylor Street mid-​morning for a coffee and scone (€ 4.60). The smallish café is well known: it does breakfast and lunches and has a string of Bridgestone awards to its credit.
Studied the menus while drinking the coffee and must say they look promising. Looked up to see the proprietor, Richard, going around topping up the coffee and mine was not neglected. Nice touch and one that could be copied, with profit, by restaurants in the evening.

Idaho Café is located centrally just behind Brown Thomas. Serving a variety of good quality food including lovely homemade soups, salads and tasty deserts including belgian Waffles with hot chocolate sauce. Nice selection of wine available also. Space is quite small so it may be difficult to get a table at busy times, but it’s worth the wait! Staff can be a bit distant but generally efficient and helpful. A perfect haven to rest and relax while having a day of hectic shopping!
