Meh, take it or leave it! That’s my opinion here… I’ve been here on a few occasions for lunch, with my office being just around the corner so it’s handy however the food for me is just average. I’ve opted for the grilled chicken sandwich once, it was ok though some ingredients made the bread get soggy which by the time it was served to me I didn’t quite get the sandwich feeling about it as it has soaked up the juices; my latest visit I got the fish cakes, there were ok, lacked seasoning to bring out the best of the flavours plus the breadcrumbs had a greasy look about them so perhaps could be left to stand a little longer. Service is general quick and efficient, for a lunch venue they do have the turnaround timing sorted here. For 1 hour lunch break, you can be in, seated, ordered and fed with plenty of time to spare, so massive kudos for that. Works nicely for all the businesses in the area. Staff have always come across friendly and welcoming.

1900 never fails to disappoint especially when it comes to chicken wings. Service is always quick which makes it a great place to visit on your lunch break, the portions are generous, the food is tasty and the prices are reasonable which ticks all the boxes in my book

Really enjoyed lunch with colleagues there, ordered mozzarella with green salad, so tasty! Nice atmosphere and subtle lightning in the place:) Prices are reasonable, cool subtle lightning!:) Perfect for a lunch as we work literally around the corner in Styne house:)

Lunch was good. Very tasty, gorgeous chips! Slightly over priced in my opinion for what you get and the other options in the area. The staff were lovely, polite and attentive to begin with, impressive especially during the lunch rush but unfortunately it took forever to pay. We finished our meal, flagged down a waiter to run back to work and were left sitting there waiting for the bill for 10 minutes and another 10 to get the card machine. Will definitely go back but maybe not on a limited lunch break!

Was so looking forward in coming here after reading all the good reviews about it. But was very disappointed. My steak was so chewy that i could not eat it. I also asked for my steak medium but my steak looks like it was medium rare as it was very very pink. So, i ate only half of it. No one asked our table if our meal is ok. Won’t be going back.

The food for dinner here is fantastic and presented very beautifully! Easily a 4 star meal. I had the salmon and really loved it. The only reason I am rating it so poorly is because of the overall experience of the night. It is unfortunate that the two clubs on either side(all connected) are not as exceptional as 1900. After our dinner of a party of 7 we decided to go to one of the two clubs next door. We first tried the bar to the right and were refused as most of us did not meet the age requirement of 28 years of age, I have never heard such a thing. I am 25 years old(all of our party was 25+) and from New York City. I thought past 21 I was in the clear, guess not. Once we began to leave the doorman said that he has spoken to his boss and they would let us go in. At the stage we figured it was best to go to the other bar since we had others meeting us and didn’t want them to be refused when they arrived. We spent the entire evening in the bar to the left of 1900, which apparently is more of a college hangout, as I felt like the oldest person there. It was no bother to us anyway we had a great evening drinking and dancing(really good music). Around 12:30 I had to run across the street to the hotel I was staying in to grab something for a friend. When I left the bar no one stopped me or notified me that I needed my hand stamped to return. I had no jacket on and was wearing a sleeveless blouse. When I returned to enter the bar I was refused the the bouncer who has seen me walk out just 10 minutes before. He then told me that if I had no stamp I had to go downstairs. I agreed even though I was freezing and the entire party I was with was right inside the front door. When I finally got through another bouncer, who went on to criticize my passport, I went to the downstairs door where I was told I had to pay in. I had no money with me nor was my cellphone in use as I was visiting front the US. When I told him all of this he said«Not my problem, there is an ATM around the corner». Since I couldn’t get in downstairs I went back upstairs to again ask the bouncer there to let me in. He again refused. Luckily as I was speaking with him my boyfriend and entire party came out. When I told them the situation two of my Irish friends asked why he has not let me in. He went on to tell them that I had called him a very profound name, which isn’t even in the American vocabulary, and was completely untrue. I have NEVER been treated so RUDELY at a bar or club! We were all totally shocked by there behavior and they have lost our business in all three of their establishments.

If it was based on food I’d give them 4 but the service… OMG the service was SOAWKWARD. The last thing I want while perusing the menu is for someone to be looking over my shoulder. It’s so hard to describe… It was overbearing. i know its because they care about the patrons but i was so uncomfortable the entire time I was there! anyhow onto the food We ordered a bottle of white wine to split as well as 2 starters and a main. The pâté we ordered was divine. so buttery and delicious I was so glad my partner in crime ordered it. I’m drooling just thinking about it… the mussels were average. nothing to rave about but still delish. We ordered the fish main and i was really impressed as it was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and really good! The total was € 55 which I thought was really reasonable fr the quality of food. I just hope the service gets better. I would definitely go again. as the food is really good… mmmm pâté…

I’ve been back to 1900 many times since my first review and each time it has impressed. Most occasions have been with sizeable groups and they’ve handled it well. Today I had the Smoked Salmon bagel with fries. They indulged my request and removed the capers. It was an excellent and very tasty sandwich. I really enjoyed it. Staff were nice and very prompt with their service. Also you can get a free tea or coffee, Monday to Wednesday if you check in on Unilocal!I didn’t avail of this today, but next time I can, I will.

We dashed in here from the pouring rain looking for a table for 5 people. I didn’t feel like we were given the warmest of welcomes, and we were made to stand and wait at the side of the dining area while the waiter got a table ready for us, making us feel like we were in the way and generally unwelcome which wasn’t the best start to the meal. I’d have been happy to take a seat and have the table cleaned around us. Anyway, onto the food. The lunch menu is pretty reasonable and has a bunch of decent sounding options — I went for the chicken supreme with mashed potato and ordered and extra side of chips(I mean, I’d been in the rain in a morph suit, I needed all the carbs). When it arrived, it was actually served with gnocchi which I thought was really odd as the menu and the waiter both confirmed it came with mash and no one had come to let me know they were making a swap. It didn’t matter too much as generally it was still a good dish(although the gnocchi was on the gluggy side). The basket of chips was a good addition and made for a good sharing size between two. I really wanted to enjoy here more than I did — the service being a little gruff and the food being changed without checking was a bit frustrating, but all up I’d give here another go when I return to Dublin as it’s so handy for our office.

What a fantastic little bistro this was. It was rainy, it was cold and I had a massive lunch time hunger — and helping me out was the fantastic looking 1900 just 2 mins around the corner from our office. I’m definitely more of a soup or sandwich type of guy for lunch time but when away with work I do tend to eat more as you’re never to sure where your next main meal is coming from, especially if a trip to the pub after work beckons and your evening meal just basically becomes a late night burger or kebab on the way home. I ordered a fantastic braised beef rib(12 Euros) which literally fell of the bone, served with fantastic veges and mash — I don’t even mind admitting that I stole a few of my dining companions amazing fries to dip into it too(double yum is what that’s called) Overall a fantastic little place — I’d be interested in seeing what it’s like at night.

Je me suis régalée !

It looks pretty fancy, I actually felt slightly underdressed when coming in. Ssssst — shall I tell you a secret? … It’s. Not! It just looks really really nice, the food is good and not expensive at all. I was really surprised! That’s just to sum it up folks… Now here’s the extended version: Lunch break + hungry + not much time so we decided to have lunch just around the corner from our office. One step in and we were immediately welcomed with a witty joke, how nice is that?! Tab water on the table without asking, very friendly waitress and good food! Beetroot salad with goat’s cheese made me felt healthy instantly, flavourful chicken soup to warm my heart. Everything plated nicely and the portions are huge! When they state«light bites», well let me tell you: huuuuuge portions. And again, let emphasise that it’s NOT expensive! I wouldn’t say: travel all the way through Dublin to go here, but if you’re in the hood — definitely go here for lunch!

Yummmy lunch was had here by non other than myself. I had the carrot and coriander soup which was divine and the stake sandwich which looked too big to conquer but actually was just perfect. The steak was thinly sliced and tender unlike most steak sandwiches. Really flavorsome and cheap as chips!

It was pouring rain in Dublin(big surprise there, I know, but coming from England I can’t complain) and we were looking for somewhere close and warm with great food for lunch. Around the corner was 1900 and it was exactly what we were looking for. It’s an elegant spot with dark wood running throughout, and much longer than it looks. We were sat all the way in the back near the kitchen, and it is a little narrow, so getting around people sometimes is a bit of a hassle, but only sometimes. The menu was small but strong with great lunch choices for soups, sandwiches and some main plates. I got the steak sandwich which was strong and came with a metal basket of fries, which I liked. All the meals were solid, except for the buffalo wings, which were so salty they were almost inedible. Yikes. Stay away from them, but any of the other meat dishes were solid. There’s also free wifi, but it’s under The Black Door label from the club below. Service was solid and the food came out semi-quickly. We had plenty of time to order, chat and eat and it was an excellent lunch for sure.

I had the pleasure of having two meals here during my week-long stay. For lunch with a co-worker, the special«sandwich» of the week was a pasta carbonara. Yummy al dente noodles with creamy, salty, white sauce. Tender chicken topped the dish — it was well seasoned. The sauce had loads of pancetta to give the egg-crème sauce a wonderful salty bite. I was disappointed that it wasn’t served with soup or salad, but for € 9, it’s hard to complain. For dinner, I had the roasted salmon on top of creamy mash. The salmon was cooked perfectly medium, with crispy skin. Theash was fine, and it was creamy as described. The plate was dotted with a sweet yam mash — perfectly balancing the saltiness of the dish. My meal paired well with a delightful Sauvignon blanc. This was by far my favorite meal in Dublin! Service was standard — polite and quick. The space is very elegant, yet not stuffy — a great inviting space for a casual meal or a nice date. I will be back to dine here when I come back. Kudos to the chef!

Had to reduce from 5 to 3. Really disappointed with the food in here the last few times. I loved the chicken supreme first time around but yesterday I had it again and there was nothing to it at all. The chicken wings have also decreased in tingling my taste buds. Staff are friendly enough and price is standard for around the area.

Didn’t realise this was a hotel restaurant until we arrived. For some reason I tend to avoid these types of joints(prefer to support the little guy) but I’m glad we went through with it. Arrived around 9PM on a Friday so I was expecting to wait for a table but it was actually quite empty. Again, I was worried I was making a big mistake. Much to my relief, we ended up having a gorgeous dinner– caesar salad to start(so, so good without being too heavy), gnocchi(divine) for myself and chicken supreme for himself. Server was the perfect balance of courteous but personable. We were shocked when the bill came at how reasonable the prices were– what a joy to not feel robbed after a nice dinner in Dublin! To top this all off, we went to the lounge next door after dinner and were treated to some great acoustic guitar. However by about 11, the cougars were arriving in droves, so we quickly made our leave. Will absolutely be back for another fantastic meal at 1900.

So I called into 1900 the other day thinking it was super posh and might be a bit expensive, but was surprised to see what good value the lunches are. I got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and apple sandwich with chips on the side. The whole lot only came to € 9 which is amazing value. The pork was tender and delicious, and the chips were nice and crispy. Great place, will be back.

What a pleasure to eat in a restaurant like this. It’s a lovely, comfortable spot, decorated with dark woods and dimmed lighting. Despite being very busy on the day, the staff were attentive and friendly and always seemed on top of it. Then there’s the food. Incredible value and really very good. I had a pulled pork sandwich with tomato soup, for nine euro. Absolute bargain. The pulled pork was lovely and I really enjoyed the combination of the apple and celery slaw. The sandwich was made out of a soft bap which was also fresh and soft. I suggested that perhaps it would be a good idea to have a wholewheat /brown bread option, as many, like myself would like the choice. I also thought the bread to filling ratio was a little off — needs more stuff inside! The star of the show though was the desert. I ordered banoffi pie which came on a board with a piece of fresh banana bread, toasted, and a little jar of pie — loaded with cream, carmelised bananas, and general deliciousness. I would love to return and try out one of their mains to see if they live up to those exceptional deserts. Incidentally, the restaurant is named after a crash in 1900 when a train crashed straight through the wall in the Harcourt Street station into Hatch St, with the train left dangling in the air. The restaurant is in the middle of adding little touches in homage to this historical incident. They have some subtle etchings on the walls, and some artistic images echoing it, without being too theme-like. Being based just around the corner, I am certain that I’ll be frequenting this place quite a lot from now on.

I had a nice soup and sandwich combo here yesterday. Both very nice, well presented, decent value and good service. Menu is reasonably basic but I work close by so it’s actually a bit of a niche to have somewhere good for a sit down sandwich. Will most likely become a regular haunt.
