Base will you marry me? This pizza is by far the best delivery pizza in the city and I love that it’s now available in «The Jar»(ugh to the name!) on Wexford St. It’s pricey for delivery pizza but I’m usually in a world of pain when I get it so it’s worth it and so much better than a soggy sickening Domino’s or similar. I always go for the diablo with extra jalapeños. It’s outstanding. May have to order pizza now…

One of our favourite pizza places! Have ordered a couple of times and have always been satisfied. They are generous with toppings and the pizzas are consistently good! Liitttle bit pricey for a takeaway, however their recent rugby World Cup deal of two large pizzas, 2 dips and 2 cans of Coke for 30 euro was decent! The service is always very good, polite and helpful. The delivery service is also great

Seriously the best delivery pizza in Dublin, more expensive than the typical deals but so good! The bases are crispy and thin, the choices are different than the usual stuff and obviously — you can build your own too. Even if you are not in the area, make an effort and try base — you won’t regret it.

Our favourite pizza in Dublin. They deliver. If you are anywhere nearby, give them a try. If you are not nearby, make the trip once in awhile.

If I could give 3.5 I would. The food is great don’t get me wrong but € 40 for 2 cans of coke and 2 pizzas, one vegetarian and one with no cheese(BF doesn’t eat cheese!) is just too pricey. Would get a 2 course early bed for two in town for that. Like I say, lovely pizza but not worth the price. Also mine was super greasy… Probably from the absolute lashing of pesto included… That amount wasn’t necessary!

Order pizza from here frequently and am never disappointed. It’s pricey enough but much better quality than any of the bigger chains so worth paying the extra. The Diablo is incredible!

Base is the best pizza delivery in Dublin by far. They use top ingredients which makes them taste great. Their dips are super tasty too. The Tropicana and Pesaro are my favourites. Order now for deliciousness!

This is a tale, a tale of pizza and lost delivery guys. Generally we have a lot of problems getting decent pizza delivered in Dublin. We find them, they close down a few weeks later. Or they are horrible! Or failing that they cant find our house(we have tried everything!) Base Wood Fired Pizza is pretty good and eventually they found us! There was a little bit of an adventure with the delivery guy, our address is a little confusing and unfortunately he ended up on the other side of the canal. He soon made his way to us though. When he did get here, the coke was missing but he went back to get it for us. So I cant complain. He did unfortunately stand outside the other red door and I had to seek him out the second time he came. But such a nice chap I forgave him. The pizza itself was great. Nice base, great toppings. I had an americana which had some great ingredients on top! We had some garlic pizza bread which was ok as well. I’ll be ordering again, that’s for sure!

Ordered in for dinner from the ballsbridge branch this week. Pizza was faultless, fresh toppings, crispy base and tastes absolutely delicious! Not too oily, not too dry, just a perfect I didn’t really like the mix of balsamic(and I’m guessing mustard seeds?) In the rocket salad side. Just not my taste I didn’t think these two mix well. Would definitely order again.

We have been ordering from here since moved into area. Best delivered pizza around. They do custom pizzas & have an online menu to choose from. Just tried the Napoli & it is my new favorite.

I really enjoy the mid-week treats that Base offers through for delivery. The mid-week treat(Monday-Thursday) is a 9″ personal sized pizza(with a more than a dozen selections), a choice of sides(such as a caesar salad, tomato salad or rocket with parmesan salad, garlic bread or focaccia bread), and a can of soda. The cost is € 12.50, plus delivery. There’s also an additional charge if you pay with a card rather than cash on delivery. I really like this deal because it makes for dinner and lunch the next day for me, and I like that the salad is fresh and crunchy and extras like parmesan, crutons, and dressing are carefully packed individually, so if you save them for the next day, everything is still fresh and ready to go! My current favorite is the Margherita Di Buffalo. However, as you’ll see from the photos I’ve posted, if you order this pizza, you’ll find that Base doesn’t seem to consider it necessary to provide toppings on every slice! It really should be labelled as a tomato-sauce pizza garnished with Buffalo mozzarella(as you’ll see in the photo, my last pizza had just 4 small chunks of cheese, so that about half of the slices and most of the pizza had no cheese at all) and sprinkled with a bit of basil. I’ve had some delivered with just five cut shards of basil! I know that people from the United States are known to be gluttonous, but this pizza does seem a bit lean in what it delivers. Basil is not all that expense that it should be meted out so stingily, and if the mozzarella costs too much at the 12.50 price point, I would gladly pay extra to have a dab on each slice. So why do I like it so much? Buffalo mozzarella really is a treat. I save the slices«with» the topping until all those«without» are gone. What I like best about the pizza is that it has a thin, crunchy crust, and the sauce is both a bit tangy and sweet.(And, clearly, it’s a good thing that I like the sauce since that’s all that is on more than half of the pizza!) The crust is sometimes a bit underdone for my USA-based taste in pizza, and the sauce is also still a little new for my palate, but it’s still a taste that rings close to what is familiar to me. That doesn’t necessarily make it «good» or «bad,» but just similar to what I’ve known back in the states. That, and the quick, friendly, and efficient delivery make this a 4 star experience for me.

The best pizza I’ve tried in Dublin! Simply great food, great quality ingredients and the service was amazing too! It is a bit more expensive than the usual pizza places around, but well worth it and you have plenty of choices for pizza, sides, salads, etc. Also, the woman I had on the phone was really nice and helpful. She told me it would take 45min before delivery. not at all, speedy delivery! Great surprise. Will definitely order again! I warmly recommend it!

They cant delete my experience from Unilocal like they did off facebook. Terrible. Bought 2 monthly specials. The bases were burnt and hard. The pizzas were just topped with spinach leaves and about 4 slices of salami. V disappointed. When you pay extra you expect quality but this is just a rip off and bad quality. Terrible customer service when removing my comments from Facebook

The best pizza I’ve eaten in Dublin. We order from here far more often than is healthy for the waist line. Its a bit more expensive that the usual lot of pizza places, but well worth it. The Napoli pizza is definitely worth a try. Delivery is usually fast too, although can be longer at peak times(Thursday & Saturday evenings).

So there I was Friday evening after work wandering around M&S throwing all sorts of goodies in my basket for the weekend. Deli-style nibbles, smoked salmon, salad and the making of a roast dinner… Arrive home, put it all in the fridge and none of it appeals for a Friday night in front of a DVD I would inevitably fall asleep watching… «What about pizza?». but I didn’t fancy the usual franchise, which is usually reserved for a hangover Sunday. «What about Base?» I countered. As I suspected he would, he decided on a ‘diablo’. Chorizo, pepperoni, jalapeños, fresh chillies, mozzarella, tomato sauce, drizzled with garlic oil, garnished with fresh basil. Being a big fan of chicken on pizza, and after googling ‘dolcellate’, I ordered the ‘ruspante’. Smoked chicken, dolcellate, brie, red onions, mozzarella, tomato sauce, garnished with fresh basil. Greedy guts that I am I wanted garlic bread with cheese, so we went for the smaller 9.5″ pizza, rather than the 13″ size. Rang up to order, for the first time, and expected the service to be really good and it was. The girl who took my order was very pleasant and even suggested I avail of an offer that would have saved me over a tenner, but I stuck to my pizza-box-per-lap guns. It is a little pricey, the above order of two small pizzas, one garlic bread and delivery charge coming to € 32.25. However compared to the equivalent order from a franchise, costing about € 27, it’s not a huge difference. Base is an Irish-owned, local business, which imports real Italian produce and received an award for ‘Best In Ireland 2010′ by The Bridgestone Irish Food Guide. So I think they’re worth the extra fiver! Now onto the food. The pizzas and garlic bread are cooked in a wood fired oven, which makes a world of difference. The garlic bread was crispy, not gooey, and came with lovely pesto, which I devoured. The pizzas though, oh! If you’re any sort of a foodie, or even if you’re not, you’re really going to appreciate the quality of the ingredients, the variety of topping and the taste of all the yummy, different flavours. He scored his diablo an 8.2 and he scored my ruspante an 8.6. I’m not so much for the precise scoring and I couldn’t decide between the two. The diablo was very spicy, not for the faint hearted, and I loved it. The ruspante was also delicious, and the dolcellate made it. I probably would have managed the 13″, but the 9.5″ left me satisfied and because it’s not a stodgy, doughy, lump of a pizza I didn’t get that carb hangover twenty minutes later. They also do salads, ice cream, a variety of interesting soft drinks, normal soft drinks and wine! The wine list has a selection of three whites and three reds, very reasonably priced at € 9.95, € 11.95 and € 15.95, with recommendations of what flavours they go with. If you’re so inclined they even have prosecco for € 16.95. While I didn’t have occasion to order wine this time I think it’s fantastic to have it as an option. They do employ a strict ID policy, not that I would imagine too many youngsters would be trying to bag a sneaky bottle of Chianti! I can’t speak highly enough of the flavours, the quality and the service. Will definitely be ordering again and hope that Base have a long, successful future. Oh and if you’re not in their current delivery area, keep an eye out as I believe they are opening a second store soon. Who knows, it could be near you!

I’m under the belief that they should recreate the food pyramid. On the bottom incorporating the majority of ones diet. I was really excited to hear about Base and its obvious dedication to the creation of a perfect pizza. The name says it all really, the believe that the base of the pizza is what makes the pizza, and it’s true no matter what you put on top of a frozen pre-made pizza from your usual take-away it will never taste amazing if the base isn’t perfect. This is something they’ve seemed to master and the result is beautifully cooked and delicious pizzas. They’re also one of the only wood-fired pizza places that I know of in the area. The prices are a bit more expensive than the chains, but it’s definitely worth the extra few bob. They’ve also got some interesting takes on the toppings, like their breakfast special(think full Irish on top of a pizza base).

This latest addition to Terenure’s many restaurants and take aways is very welcome. I had a half of left over pizza from base, yea its aways the best the day after. Which does make sound like some kind of scavenger! It was in a friends house, promise. Really enjoyed it too. I was eating a plain margherita, really flavoursome and tasty. For the one I had its about a quid more expensive then Dominos but for base I wouldn’t mind paying the extra. The base, not surprisingly is light and not stodgy like some other take away pizza. Nice to see an Independent Irish pizza business as well. Base’s only downside is they current just do take away for delivery or collection. They also do salads, starters, drinks and deserts.
