Had a lovely Christmas eve dinner here with the family, and thoroughly enjoyed it. They had a € 25 menu on which had a starter, main and glass of wine or a beer, excellent value. We all ordered different things, from Red Thai curry to korma, and everyone enjoyed their meals, even El Monkey who is the fussiest teen in Ireland wolfed down her chicken satay and noodles. Additionally there is BYOB with a € 6 corkage charge, meaning a very very reasonable night out all in!

Nah not great. Food was lovely, albeit very slow. Table was booked for 7pm starter arrived at 8 and main at 9 didn’t finish eating until 9,30. Way too slow. Ordered a glass of wine at 7 and was never asked if I wanted another, 1glass of wine in 2 and a half hours. Tea at end was plonked down felt like leaving, zero service. We went up to till to pay as no point asking for it to be dropped down. Service person didn’t even make eye contact when giving change. 100% rude.

You may want to book ahead. Small downstairs. Upstairs not being used. The restaurant was nicely decorated very clean interior. The menu looked promising quite a variety of traditional Thai and Asian infusion. We ordered satay chicken, vegetable samosas, lamb curry and cashew chicken. Food was very quick coming out of the kitchen. The lamb was extremely overcooked and dry good thing it came with a lot of curry sauce. The chicken was also overcooked and very dry. It seems like the meat had been cooked six or seven hours previous and then just warmed up The service was of medium quality We had to ask for spoons to serve, soy sauce, and water. We will definitely go back and try again. If things are better next time I will update my review

Great Thai food in stylish space. I did the early-bird(before 7pm) two-course for € 19. Chicken skewers with peanut sauce as the starter(fantastic!) and sautéed beef & vegetables over rice as the main.

We found ourselves in Terenure with some friends and needing a bite to eat, we ended up walking into Sawadee. Very smart décor, modern, yet cosy. In the interest of furthering my Thai food education, I passed over the spring rolls to try some concoction called«Larb ped». People, this IS the future. Little wee baby bits of duck, with lime and spring onion and goodness knows what else, served with wee bite sized spoon shaped peices of iceberg lettuce. Fair play to them on presentation! I was expecting a couple whole whole leaves of lettuce to «wrap» in, so I was delighted that they went through the bother to cut individual peices. It was delicious. So delicious I can’t stop thinking about how delicious it was! For my main I went for the Green Chicken curry. Yup, green curry again… however, I felt I had to have it so I could rate it against others. I wasn’t disappointed. It was very tasty indeed, and was a generous serving. The sauce was the perfect sweetness/spiciness. Yum Yum! Now the reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I think there was a mix up. Himself ordered some seafood dish, with a 4 star spicy rating. The waiter inquired if he actually wanted it 4 star, and himself said yes, definitely, he wanted it very spicy. My friend ordered a stir fry dish with a 3 star rating. When himself tried his dish, he said it was good, but barely spicy. He told the waiter so and he brought a dish of chilli to jazz it up. Now, as my friend was eating his, he started sweating. and i tasted his sauce, and it was quite a bit spicier than mine(which is also 3 star). We are thinking the kitchen mixed up the spiciness? We coped with it, but others might not fare so well if it happened to them. Other than that, the service was impeccable. Water topped up continually. Wine lovely and chilled. They had noted the seating on the order so they didn’t have to ask who’s food was who’s. A very pleasant experience all in all, and for 4 people with 2 bottles of wine, the bill was reasonable enough. I will be going back soon, very very soon!

Just moved to Terenure and was thrilled to find a Thai restaurant — and Sawadee certainly did not disappoint! I only got take away(pad thai with prawns), but they were friendly and prompt and the décor inside is beautiful. The prices are a bit high to eat-in, it seems, but the take-away price was certainly reasonable. The pad thai was perfect — absolutely delicious. Will be back many, many times!

On our first visit — a week after they opened, our experience was so awful I felt compelled to write a letter to them detailing just how badly they had missed just about every trick in the service industry handbook, it was noteworthy. Notice however that I made no comment to the food in the above rant and that I mention a first visit… there have been many many more since! The food is great, really really noteworthy and after the initial hick-ups the place has settled down to being a restaurant of high quality food, great service and bill-wise… not insane. Terenure has a lot of restaurants but for the most part they are family affairs catering to children and not big on quality, Sawadee is different, it’s better and well worth a shot! — book though, particularly for weekend nights, it gets busy!

One of my favourite Thai place’s in Dublin after tiger becs and yo thai in Mount merrion. While tiger becs hits the right notes in terms of atmosphere, yo thai has pure entertainment value in the singing waiters, more on that in another review though! Sawadee is local and has delicious food. They don’t deliver though and one of the dishes i’d normally have the most the Sawadee Special Fried Rice isn’t available to take away. That aside most of the food I’ve tried is great. With the massaman curry and the sweet and sour chicken being particularly good. if your looking to sweat try the Nua Rue Gai Phad Prik Gaeng(way spicy you might need some fresh air after) Unlike mao which tries a bit too hard to be cool, Sawadee has a nice simple dining room, they’ve extended upstairs as well. Like a lot of ethic restaurants the desert menu is a bit basic but its a minor complaint.
