I first discovered the Tiesan when I was particularly hungry walking home after Mass at St Kevin’s. I’m very glad my hunger got the best of me because it was the first place I encountered. I ordered coffee and Guinness French Toast. The coffee was amazing, but the Guinness French Toast was to die for. I’d travel great distances for that breakfast, it was that brilliant. The last time I was there, I had the eggs Benedict(alas, they were not offering the French toast) and they were superb. We did have a bit of a hard time getting our coffees, but since it took quite some time, they were ‘on the house’ and we also were given complementary lemonade(which was just brilliant, I might add). The staff is class and the café just excellent. If you’re on Harrington, I suggest stopping in for a bite.

Love the coffee in Tiesan, only wish they were open a teeny bit earlier so I could grab one on the way to work! Their pastries are freshly baked each morning and extremely good!!! Service is friendly and chatty. For these two things alone I would give it five stars. Where I’m taking one star away: I’ve sampled their vegetarian breakfast before and while I enjoyed it, I have to admit I felt it lacked some umph, I would also say the same for the lentil burger I tried on another occasion, which was slightly *hate to say it* bland, even with the addition of guacamole on top, perhaps something like smoked cheese or a salsa would have brought out the flavours. I have to say I expected more for the price it was. Still, the quality here is very high and it’s a lovely place which I would recommend to others. Update 20.05.13 I’ve since been back twice to sample the early bird menu which is a great deal of 2 courses and a glass of wine for 18 euro. The first time, I had the mussels to start, which were really lovely. They were served as a salad rather than a hot seaming bowl(something I have never encountered before) and along with them came the most glorious chargrilled garlicky bread. Both times I had the white fish escabeche for the main, and was impressed on both occasions, well cooked, tangy and flavoursome. On one occasion I had the crab and, samphire tempura but I really didn’t like it, I have to say. Seemed a waste to deep-fry all that lovely fresh samphire! Decent value for money though and worth a look.

I stopped in here for a quick snack and opted for a toasted bagel with butter and marmalade. It was really good and just what I needed too. The marmalade was particularly good, it came in a cute little jar that I took home with me. The coffee was nice too and was served in a great big mug too. The only fault I have is the seats at the counter inside. The counter slopes diagonally down to the floor, so as you can’t really get in under it. Looks good, but not practical from a comfort point of view. Oh well. I can sit outside when the weather warms up.

Pull up your pants and get strapped in, Tiesan has sprung to the top of my Brunch list without a doubt the finest display of breakfast dining in Dublin. If you haven’t been for brunch you haven’t arrived! The skillet breakfast with the gourmet sausages is omnom nom nom nom. I’m salivating just thinking about it,. The eggs Benedict which the wife had looked amazing but I was too full to finish after my epic skillet breakfast. The coffee could be as good as the Bald Barista… just saying! There is one bad thing and this is why I didn’t give it a 5 star… The outside section is full of smokers. Yep that’s right stinky smokers get to dominate the whole outside of a restaurant blowing toxic fumes into the faces of people who don’t want to get cancer while eating. that’s all ill say

Dropped in here on my fellow Unilocaler’s recommendations that the coffee was good. I can agree that it is certainly very nice, although perhaps it was a mistake ordering a cappucino and expecting a deep flavour. I ended up having to return it and ask for a double shot because it was too milky. The enhanced cup was lovely though. Didn’t try any food. Go for the coffee if nothing else, it has a large canopy to sit under outside and Harrington St is fairly relaxed.

I have been to Café Tiesan a few times before but only for a coffee and a chat. This time I went for the Unilocal UYE Late Lunch. We were sitting outside in the patio area, which is always a good spot you feel slightly sheltered of the surroundings but you are still in the middle of it all! So just sit back and let people, cyclists, busses and cars pass by– nothing better than a good street view: D I had the vegetarian breakfast adjusted to my allergies and as they could not confirm a 100% GF cheese they suggest me spinach instead– I really appreciated it as lately not all places take allergies seriously. The breakfast was really good and kicked my energy level for the afternoon. Only pity that they haven’t got their alcohol license yet as a glass of Pino would have been a perfect match for this late lunch. Nevertheless they said it will be through soon, so I gonna be a bit patient and back for my glass of wine another time. All and all I had a really great time, good food, nice coffee, friendly staff and a good chat with follow Unilocalers.

Their ham piadinas, lovely lattes, & fresh croissant(at 4 in the afternoon!) won us over. Lunch here tasted absolutely delightful! Despite the stiff-IKEA-mod décor, they have outdoor seating — always something I appreciate when the weather is(temporarily, always temporarily) on the summery side. While I couldn’t imagine myself comfortably whittling away the hours here, I’ll definitely be back for a quick, tasty lunch.

Sit outside in their sheltered patio and look out at the avenue of deciduous trees as people wander by. Chow down on a sausage piadina for € 7.95 and be full and satisfied for the rest of the day. Definitely my go to place when I need some TLC.

It may be teeny tiny but I just love this place. For brunch: a Fry served a hot frying plate, nice. It’s also one of the best places for coffee in Dublin(I only know two). It’s got that Danish ”hygge” thing going on(even though it’s not Danish), with blankets and a covered area outside, whatever the weather. And there are papers, so if you are on your own, you don’t feel like a plank. Awesome ;-)

I work around the corner and it is one of the best coffee shops in the area with the nicest people you could meet working there. The new outdoor seating area is great. Feels like I am at a corner coffee shop in Paris with all the traffic flying by. New heaters going in for the winter I believe so I will be spending a little longer there which my Boss wont be too happy to hear about. Love the coffee and their salads.

Great coffee and lunch, best French Toast and breakfasts, now they’ve started doing evening tapas with great value wines. I really enjoy this place and the staff are fab!

Absolute gem of a place. Cracking coffee(each served with a little sliver of valrhona dark choc — nice touch!), excellent scones/pastries, large range of fine sandwiches and very friendly staff. Don’t bring a gang of your mates though… it’s tiny! Prices have gone up a bit recently, but it’s still competetive with the other(lesser) cafés nearby. Bit of a shame their place had to close in Temple Bar’s Filmbase, but I suppose times are tough. Definitely worth the trek up to Harrington St to support them!

This café is so small that I didn’t feel entirely comfortable perched on a high stool as I sipped coffee so strong I wasn’t sure if I should drive afterwards. For me, it had the feel of a café plonked in the centre of a bustling, draughty train station. I just wanted to grab my hit of caffeine and go. Having said that, other Unilocalers rave about this place so maybe I’m just a sizeist…

I like my coffee. I like my coffee strong, and I love taking a wander around the city, heading in no particular direction, with a take-away cup and my ipod as companions. My daily ritual has its pros and cons. The pros: It’s good exercise and I get to discover new coffeeplaces almost every day. The cons: Grabbing coffee on the run every day can hurt the wallet. I therefore have to give Tiesen a big high five for charging 1.90 for an Americano, and a strong one. That’s the cheapest real cup of coffee I’ve come across in the area.

Probably the best coffee I’ve tried in Dublin. It’s reasonably priced(around € 2 for a nice sized Americano) and the pastries are delicious. Only 2 minor negative points: the indoor seating area consists only of a bar with high stools though there is oudoor seating with tables, and they are closed on the weekends. Otherwise, it’s lovely. UPDATE: The indoor seating has improved with a few additional tables and the outdoor seating is great on a nice day & they are now OPEN on weekends! Still my favourite café. Tiesan is worthy of your coffee budget.

I stopped in here to kill some time before an appointment and I am glad I did. The interior of the space is really cozy and inviting, with the daily menu on a chalkboard above the small bar where you can sit and enjoy a nice espresso, as I did. The single shot came in a shot glass(so cute) and was accompanied by a small Italian chocolate. It was obvious that these people knew what they were doing. I didn’t have time to stick around and enjoy some of their food, which looks really delish, but I definitely plan to head back. Every time I walk by I always see people having a leisurely latte or Panini and I envy them. Tucked away off the hubbub of the Camden corridor, Tiesan is a nice little Italian getaway in the city. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxed lunch or quick espresso.

It tastes like France. Honestly, the pastries are the buttery-est(!) that you’ll find, probably in the country. They have gorgeous pear or apple slices and the usual pain-au-chocolat and croissants etc that are hard to pass in the morning on the way to work. Coffee is fantastic and freshly brewed. There are usually two or three super-friendly girls behind the counter happy to help you with anything. They do lovely sandwiches at lunch as well and very tasty soups. Not your usual vegetable soup either, fancy flavours like green thai(definitely one to try). When they first opened they did a special offer for soup and sandwich at € 5, but I couldn’t finish the two. Sandwiches are big and full of lovely fresh ingredients. Also recommend the savoury pastries, a favourite of mine is the feta and spinach pastry. For coffee lovers everywhere it’s a must. P. s. They also do office lunches if you have a meeting and you want to impress.
