As written above — «The barista wants to make coffee his way and if you ask for it another way, he’ll tell you to get lost.» So, deluded as you can tell! Being pretentious about making coffee is like a last grab for the insecure and uneducated. Nobody cares, especially not people with real jobs. Attitude was a turn off. Closed down now, I dunno, maybe the owner was too pretentious for his customers, wife and kids and ran off to Spain with another woman who loves coffee and haughty attitudes?

CLOSED! Found this in Unilocal, reviews sounded interesting, but found the place vacant. Sign is still above the door, but there are no furnishings inside, just a pile of old mail. Found coffee right next door with outdoor seating and a selection of sandwiches and sweets

Coffee Hub is one of those places that you read about in books or see in the movies. The barista wants to make coffee his way and if you ask for it another way, he’ll tell you to get lost. We wanted a quick coffee to go. Nope. He doesn’t do to go. Coffee tastes better in a coffee cup. A bus driver came in for a quick cup before his shift started. Nope. We don’t do that here. Someone ordered a flat white. Ok, he made that. But then he told us flat whites are really bad. In addition to giving us two of the most delicious cups of coffee we’ve ever had, he gave us some lessons in making these cups. He also showed us some techniques he was working on to make coffee better. Coffee Hub is the home of the made scientist barista. We asked to pay and he told us to pay what we felt was right. I offered 10 euros out of obligation for the coffee, the tastes, the techniques and general fun we had. He told me that was too much. I paid him 8 euros(still a lot of money for two cups of coffee) and we called it a morning. I’m sure your coffee will be less expensive.

Sigh, was disappointed by the coffee. The store looked really cute from the outside and I was hoping it’d have some decent coffee served up. My cappuccino was more milk with a slight hint of coffee flavor. Hopefully this was just a once off fluke, i’m willing to come back for another try!

I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to coffee, but this was by far the BEST cup of pour-over coffee I ever had! I’ve been to Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and have had good coffees there, but the man knew what he was doing. My lady and I were en route to a «highly reviewed» coffee place in Dublin, when we came across this 3rd wave coffee shop tucked away in the Portobello neighborhood, and we walked into a teal-colored room with seating for about 20 and no menu. Just ask for what you want, and make sure it’s not a caramel macchiato… She asked for a latte, and it was the most delicious latte I’ve ever had. I asked for the same, he replied, «do you want something better?» I accepted. He essentially made a latte with less milk. It was still amazing. The coffee nerd inside me approached the counter, and asked if he made any good pour over. He the proceeded to take some Ethiopian beans he had just gotten in(which I’ll get to in a moment) and prepared 2 batches of coffee using different methods and the same beans. He explained to me his methods and procedures. Very friendly. When he wasn’t perfecting a cup of coffee, he was playing his acoustic guitar against the wall. PS– the coffee beans were some of the best beans from Ethiopia I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this place, and can’t wait to go again the next time i’m in Dublin.
