Copan is the new Leinster House. I remember getting an invite to the opening night. I have seen some«celebs» here. Paul Galvin, no comment as Dublin have the Sam. I have had some cool nights in New Year’s Eve a couple of years, clock ticked down I also had a first date here a good while back. I’m super chatty. She was super shy. Normally the shyness disappears with my white teeth smile(winning smile), we didn’t gel. I gave her a pat on the bum and said Cya! Other nights too with great friends I have lost contact with. Ate here too. Good stuff. Lovely coffee in the morning and afternoon. I also have a memory of getting the lift from ground floor to plus 1, dangerous but cool. Copan is recommend.

I’ve been here a few times and have liked it every time. I love the look of the inside; old world boutique meets new world club. An interesting mix but I like it — reminds me of the old Zanzibar on Ormond Quay in my college days styling wise. As we walked in the front entrance it was nice and quiet as they were showing football but the ‘club’ end towards the back was just like normal — thank God too as we are not football fans! Should I be saying football or soccer? Who knows! The staff were very polite and served us cocktails to our table(and they were serving food) — the cocktails were only € 5 each too which is a great price when you have to buy two at a time. I’m particular about noise levels in pubs and clubs(getting old I know) as I like to be able to talk as well as dance. We found the noise levels to be just right for us. Al in all it’s a good spot either for your venue to stay for the night or to get in the spirit for the venture in to town. And if you really want to get cosy, the smaller bar area on the top floor has a few places to hide in a corner. As a good spot to go out on a shoe string, especially for a group of girls I’d recommend it highly for Rathmines locals. Good for party heads, couple heads, cocktail heads and sore heads!

I gave Copan another shot last night with the same friend who I’d gone there with the last time. We thought«what the heck, everyone deserves a second chance, maybe they were having a bad day», more importantly we were in the mood for cocktails. When we got there, there were exactly 7 people in the bar watching a football game. we sat down at a table right across from the bar, we’d been there for approximately 10 minutes when we just got up and left. We barely got a hello let alone a waiter to take our order which is just unacceptable. The second chance has been given, Copan is now officially banned from our repertoire of drinking spots. We will be interviewing new prospects next week :)

You just can’t beat their € 5 cocktails offer! Lot of different types to choose from. The venue itself looks amazing with the heated beer garden. One of my new favourite spot in town!

I really liked this place when it opened 2 years ago… and I still like it! Great affordable generous cocktails. The food is also top class. The staff are friendly, some too cool for school, but still nice. You know, they make me feel cool too! I live really near so I don’t have to bring a jacket or bag… just run down the road and dance the night away! Woo-hoo!

Nice décor but exceedingly quiet on the weeknights I have been there. Décor is a like it or love it affair, I like it but I’m not exactly sure if it wants to be a pub(TVs etc) or a nightclub. Will do more investigations later, unfortunately I was driving the evening I was there so could not sample their cocktails or beers.

Staff are either mean/rude con-artists(and I mean the con-artist part in a good way) or need to work on their English. I said ‘surprise me between Lynchville Lemonade and Exotic Passion’ and had both brought to me. I was too throw off to send one back/not pay for it, and I assume most people would react t he same way. Still strong, delicious, and cheap with comfy chairs. Even if you don’t like the ambiance, those are NICE chairs.

Amazing prices. 5 Euro drinks all day — very dangers when you well just up the corner and can have Long Island Icetea for 5 euro: D Very nice staff and lovely smoke garden. WORTH a visit!

I was shocked when I found out that I had’t written a review for copan. It’s not really a place I’d go but 5 € are hard to argue with and good ones at that :) Really friendly(and mostly) good looking staff. It does get very crowed and it’s a place I’d go with a group of friends and not to meet new people.

I am not normally a big fan of bars where the«pretty people» go hang out, but this place is pretty cool. The drink specials are really pretty good and the staff is wicked nice. This is the type of place I would go for an early evening getting to know you drink with someone I was trying to impress. They got a bump from a three to a four star review because they found and held my wallet for me after I ‘misplaced’ it at their insane Halloween party.

Lovely on the inside, but there’s little else to be desired. Severe lack of atmosphere! Cocktails at a fiver is a good deal, but you get exactly what you pay for, and no more. Very weak. Was in there the other day having a pint after work, sitting in my own corner far away from anyone(as it was quite quiet) and reading my book. barman walks over near me, and turns the light in my area off. I sat there with my mouth hanging open and a look of disbelief on my face staring at the barman, who looked at me, saw I was holding a book, and walked away without so much as an acknowledgement of my existence. I realize that the place isn’t a library, but it was quiet enough to allow me, the only person in my section, to have a bit of light to read to, considering I was a paying customer. I left immediately, and have no inclination to return in a hurry, especially since there are some fantastic places to have a drink in Rathmines!

I went to Copan for the drink mixing Unilocal event. They are certainly doing their cocktails right – the mojito was absolutely excellent. I hate when you get a bunch of tiny, chopped-up mint leaves and during the demonstration the Copan staff made sure to explain how to ‘muddle’ without destroying the herbs. Seemed to be a knowledgeable bar staff – nothing to sniff at in Dublin I am realising. On the downside, there is too much going on at Copan. The décor is over-the-top. On the tour, they explained it was a Honduran theme. Uh, looks to me like they took anything remotely indigenous looking and stuck it on the walls. You’ve got Aztec calendars, large stone sculptures, and suspiciously Asian-looking wall treatments in some areas. Every wall and nook in this place is individually decorated, like five themes rolled into one. I just can’t figure out why I would go to Copan. I was told they have club nights but with all the aisles and walkways, I can’t imagine where you dance. And with flat-screens playing sports on all the walls? It was like an arcade in there; felt like I couldn’t rest my eyes. Is it a sports pub? A cocktail lounge? A nightclub? Your guess is as good as mine. It certainly isn’t a restaurant as hubs and I found out after ordering a mediocre but expensive dinner. The outdoor smoking section is admittedly amazing. Space heaters, a roof, tables, and tons of standing room. Oh and more fake stone sculptures, hooray!

Very impressed with this place. Even though it took me a while to get around to it. It’s brand new, so it looks great inside, and they’ve clearly done their homework in terms of comfort and design. It’s a big place, but since the areas are split off from one another, there’s still a bit of privacy. Also, since I’m a clumsy idiot, the staff deserve a pat on the back for quickly cleaning up a spilt drink. And another one for being really friendly and attentive.

The first impression of this place packs a punch. After entering through what is the size of a small shop front, the place opens up to a multi level fancy pants bar with décor a go-go. There is a bit of a wow factor. I was there for my first Unilocal event, so I went upstairs and met the Unilocalers. It was a very enjoyable evening. Going as Billy Nomates, everyone I met was very welcoming and there was good conversation all evening. But I stray from the subject… we were first given a cocktail making demonstration and then, mojito in hand, taken on a tour of the bar. Yes a tour, I think a first for me. The beer garden was incredibly stylish and I have to say it is the nicest beer garden I have ever been in in Dublin. Kudos to them I say. After the tour we were brought back upstairs for another cocktail and some finger food. As bar platters go(and I’ve had a fair few with work social events in Dublin these last twelve years), Copans platters are top notch. The cocktails were nice, € 5 each in this place, which is impressive for Dublin. Oh another plus for me are the big screens. I like the odd game and this would seem like perfect footie, rugby and gaa watching habitat. One little thing I noticed is the toilets are upstairs… the only toilets are upstairs. This is a big establishment and in my humble opinion needs toilets on the main floor area… maybe there are more toilets but I didn’t spot them. Over all I like, a lot. But I was there on a Wednesday night. the acid test would be to go here on a Saturday night to see how the cocktail makers(and the toilets for that matter) cope with the masses, as I hate queuing…

Slipped in for the first time on a Unilocal!gathering, and it’s a really cool place. Not sure what it’d be like at the weekend if, as they contest, it’s rammed, but on the weekday I was there, it was great! Stayed afterwards to try the food, which gets a tick, and another cocktail of course! Large selection, reasonable prices. I don’t think your date will be dissapointed here. Smokers will be happy with the area out back, complete with Mayan Stela, and heating too! See if you can spot the«builders arses»(!) motif on the wall on the way in…

Very spacious fancy looking bar, just opened early December last year, just next door from Boots in Rathmines. I love the atmosphere(except for the door man at the entrance, got some bad vibes from him :-D) and I love the idea of the different areas with an excellent work on the styling, comfort and atmosphere, and the high ceiling(the horrible nights out in packed and nicotined air pubs from the pre-ban era are still vivid in my memory so I do appreciate AIR to breathe!) and the staff is pretty friendly too. Plenty of large screens to see football matches for those interested… I’d try their 5 € cocktail offers if I go back, I got a complimentary one and that was very very appreciated !

I love this bar. It reminds me of an upmarket cocktail bar in South Beach Miami, The layout and décor is very well thought out and the smoking area has to be the best I’ve experienced in ireland. Staff are really friendly and with cocktails at a nifty € 5 a pop I’ll definately be back. BTW they don’t scrimp on the measures either and cocktails are mixed from scratch(no premixed rubbish here). I’m not too sure what this place would be like on a weekend night as the mixing of cocktails would mean that service could be slow for regular drinks. For sports fans the big screen is excellent and discreetly positioned so not to ‘swamp’ the pub and take away from the ambience. Well done to whoever designed this bar. It’s a credit.

Woot woot first to review! Thank you for indulging me in my childish reveling. I love getting that blue star, might get a tattoo of it on my… Oh actually that could lead to all manner of issues that would require a parental cert of this review, let’s keep this at general cert. This place is huge! It is so deceiving from the outside. There are three bars. One at the front, one at the back and one upstairs. Staff are terrific, professional and engaging. It’s like stepping back into the Mayan times, well that is the interior design that they strive to evoke and they do. I love the lighting and how it changes colours. Smoking area will make all you smoke lovers very happy, heated and big. Summer time it will be a lovely treat. They do food as well and when I was there during the day it was very busy with a large cross section of people and age groups.
