Looking for a bar with good music? Fan of rock/metal? Then head on over! I was taken here by a friend for a couple«quiet» pints(after many that I had already necked) and fell in love instantly. The place itself is massive both inside and in the beer garden. The rocking staff are friendly, chatty and helpful. The pints cold and varied and the music is excellent. All over the walls are posters of bands and gigs, there’s pool tables should you wish to beat your friends or strangers for some drinking money and there are plenty of TVs to catch the sport on. Take a walk on the wild side, get your devil horns in the air and head bang your on over for a rocking good time! \m/

Relaxed, chilled out atmosphere. Hadn’t been here in years so it was all different and very spacious. The smoking area is great and has the pool tables that you might be lucky to get a turn of as the place is always jammers. It was Wednesday and we could barely get a seat. They do great deals especially big pitchers of captain Morgan’s and Coke for € 15. The staff are great and the people that go to Fibbers are always on a great buzz I’ve always felt comfortable in here! :)

Dirty, grimy and just about everything else you want in a Rock Bar. They hold many gigs, I can only attend the all-ages ones, being a teenager myself. They used to do pints of Pepsi on tap for € 2, which was fantastic and I would waste away summers drinking them with my mates. However, they now no longer stock it like that and sell cans of coke for a much higher mark up. I miss those Pepsi’s on tap. Nothing could beat them at a gig.

This place has a grouse(that’s ocker for great) beer garden, plays sweet rock tunes and serves great beers via the friendly banter of happy bar staff. Also has a band room downstairs! Even someone from the land of beer and beer gardens(Australia in layman’s terms) like me was thoroughly impressed by the layout. 5⁄5 would drink at again(or even a third time today!) Backs onto Murray’s and another bar for the beer garden. Murray’s does a wider variety of food but alas no metal and the other bar has some groovy craft beers. So all together it’s a killer combo.

Being there a few times, and a halloween, what i have to say is about the bands, if u go in the right day u can see great gigs, and enjoy a 10 euro pitcher, and the atmosphere is the same as the music there so for me exactly what i expect i recomend

Fibbers used to be *such* a great place to hang and meet quirky, likeminded folks but something about it changed over the last couple of years. If I was writing this review five years ago I’d have no qualms about giving it a straight up 4, possibly near 5 stars but based off my last few experiences and the attitude of some of the new staff I’ll give it a 3. This place used to be an absolute legend back in the day… nowadays, not so much at all. I’ll give it another try next time and see if my rating changes. Did it change management or something? +++ UPDATE: Dramatic improvement. More on this shortly, but they’ve earned at least another star brining it up to 4STARSTATUS. Very important with and for me.

Went here for a few games of pool with some people I met on the bus… «Do you play pool? Wanna go for a few games?», that’s Ireland for you:-) There was a metal band playing, and the atmosphere was good. Although that is not my type of music, they did play some covers of Pink Floyd, at which point my pool skills increased dramatically. It’s a dingy place, loud and brash, but the pool tables and outside area make up for that to a certain extent.

Dirty Grungy Loud Thrash Metal infested hole, you gotta love it. I’ve been here a few times now, its great to see a proper rock/metal bar still going strong. If you ever go to a metal gig in Dublin generally the after party is here and they have live music on. Entrance is not to bad a fiver I think cant remember exactly. There are a lot of different rooms, to be honest I dont think I have ever been there when sober to actually give you a good description. There is a massive smoking area which is always packed so if your a smoker its a good environment. The bands are usually pretty good as well! All in all a great club.

Fibber Magees, an institution of Dublin rock bars. I have to admit, I’m not a rocker, but I am happy to tag a long here when needs be. It’s dank, dark and very rough around the edges. But beyond all that comfortable enough when you find a free table with comfy seats. They have live music on most nights too, which gives the place a great atmosphere. Just as long as I’m not sitting beside the speakers that is ;) On our latest visit I was delighted to see they had Punk IPA on tap here, yay… um no, I mean RAWKON \m/ Approaching the door security said there was a cover charge of 5EUR — grand. At the till it was 6EUR — huh? Oh well, we’re here now…

I was here for a friend’s gig, I was reluctant as I have played here a few times myself over the years and this place brings back so terrible flashbacks from ‘Mikey: The early years’. The smoking area has definitely improved over the years and the crowd(while a lot younger than I recall them) are still overall good natured and friendly. The only downfall for me was that the sound system spent the entire gig peaking on the vocals, it was just blatantly louder than it should have been! I politely pointed out to the sound guy that everything was fuzzy beyond understanding at the front and he went crazy at me… I mean tirade…

Every surface painted black? Check Cheap beer? Check Music so loud it will make your parents cross the street before walking past? Check Couches held together with duct-tape and other assorted fucked up furniture, including pooltable with dodgy stains on the cloth? Check Live bands with band logos that look like someone threw a plate of spaghetti against the wall? Check What we have here are all the ingredients for a classic heavy metal dive. I worked in a place pretty much exactly like this in Holland and despite the rough-looking exterior the atmosphere in places like these is always relaxed. If you can’t stand loud distorted guitar music or long haired people dressed in black, stay away, but if you enjoy discussing the latest Cannibal Corpse record while throwing down pints of lager at the speed of light, do come in.

Fibbers is one of my favourite pubs in all of Ireland. There is always a good crowd and they always have good music. It’s one of the few alternative clubs in the country. They also have a nice, covered, outdoor smoking area and good prices on drinks. If you are tired of the crap they play on the radio and call music these days you need to check this place out.

Wow — I wish this place was also in NYC. If I had Fibbers nearby I’d be there every week for a good cheap metal show! The € 3.50 pints of Mad Dog(their own lager) and € 4 pints of Guinness didn’t hurt either. Seriously though, for € 8 I got in to see 6 death metal bands on a Friday night, from roughly 8:30 — 2AM. Fibbers has a very L’Amour(as in the original Brooklyn location) &CBGB feel to it — with the exception of the bathrooms, which aren’t like the CBGB hell prison experience.(not that they’re pristine, but they’re not a horror) Fibbers is a tiny little place that has the coolest vibe. Its hard to describe. You can tell the bands want to be there, and the fans are all interested in the bands. I’ve been to a lot of shows in the US where a lot of the«fans» are just there to cause a ton of shit. Was there a mosh pit at Fibbers? Hell yeah. A real mosh pit, and crowd surfing, and band members hanging from the ceiling, and at multiple points, a giant statue of Jack Daniel got to crowd surf.(until it fell and split this one guy’s head open, but hey, he was ok after a bit. I think) Still, even with the mosh pit and fans being fans, at no point did the crowd suddenly surge back and knock people off their feet. The people in and around the pit were really respectful of the people who didn’t want to be in the pit. Contrast that with the US in which idiots jump into the pit to do spin kicks and jumping jacks and what i can only think of as metal ballet moves. Pits in the US seem to surge out, knocking down anyone in their way, and, not always, but a good number of them are filled with people who are openly hostile and looking for an outlet. I was worried that I was walking into something like that here. Nope. Total opposite. If you wanted to mosh, cool. If you wanted to enjoy the bands from a good view point next to the sound system while Gandalf the sound engineer stared off in horror and disbelief as the giant Jack Daniel statue was passed around and knocking audio cable from the ceiling, hey, all good too. Long story short, if you;‘re in Dublin and you want to catch a cheap metal show & enjoy a few pints, then get in here!

Ah Fibbers. I look back on the teenage years I spent in its dark depths headbanging my little heart out and smile. They were good times. As a poor student their € 3 euro drinks promotion was perfect me for me. I could go out for an entire night on thirty quid and still be able to afford a bag of chips afterwards. Fast forward to that same fresh-faced youngster now in his mid twenties. My hairline isnt exactly where it was in those days either. I decided to start frequenting Fibbers once again for the hell of it. Someone once said to me that if you don’t go to Fibbers before you’re 19 it’s probably best not to bother at all. This is partly true. A pervasive odour of sweat and stale beer greets you as you enter and the heat of the place would knock you out if you were slightly dehydrated at the time. I find myself standing in the smoking area most nights as the weather gets slightly better. The cheap drinks is a great crowd-pleaser still and there is some fun to be had here but maybe I’ve just outgrown the place. A solid boozer with great tunes even if it is a little rough around the edges.

Metal to the core! This place has some great things going for it and on it’s night can rock the cortton socks clean off your feet! The ups: The crowd are great, most people are approachable and everyones there for the same reason: A great night with great music. The smoking area is flawless! With it’s huge outdoor spaces and sheltered seating area it works in most weathers as you can cool off without getting soaking wet. The décor works for the place that it is although during the day the word dingy may spring to mind! The Discounts are great. Monday it’s € 10 at the door and € 2 drinks, that’s all pints bottles and shots of spirits, most mixers free. And onThursday it’s € 5 in and € 3 drinks. Can you beat it? I don’t think so! The downs: The place isn’t the cleanest and god are the toilets testiment to that! If you’re there on a night out, after about 11 you might want to hold on until the burger king on the way home! The drunken kids, yes it was me about 4 years ago but Jesus they can be annoying! All in all tis a great venue with a great buzz and a heart of rock. Check it out if you’ve got the metal!

Fibbers is the one stronghold of old-school metal and no-frills rock in Dublin, and keeps going for I don’t know how many years now. Besides serving as a live venue with shows on Fridays and Saturdays, it also has a late bar license that keeps it open even on Sundays until 3 in the morning. Plus the occasional drinking promotion. On Thursdays it’s 3 € per pint, with a 5 € cover charge at the door after 8PM. Disclaimer: this one is about tattoos, long hairs, drinking shots and rocking out loud. It stinks. It is full of bearded people and the odd tourist group looking for action on a Sunday night. Don’t expect a) food, b) good manners or c) clean toilets. But do expect to meet some famous rock musicians(Korn, Machine Head and Down amongst others) for their aftershowparty here.

Fibbers, one of the only decent metal pubs left in Dublin. Went the other week on a saturday with a group, walked in, a fantastic Metallica tribute blowing the heads off everyone. If you like your music loud and good head to Fibbers. And make sure you grab a yummy bottle of Buckfast from the bar too.

Whelans. Button Factory. The Academy. While these places may play rock music over the course of an evening, they aren’t really rock music places. Whelans may have the slightest of rocker elements, but it is mainly for cool indie kids, while The Academy caters to indie kids and(God help us) emos. For a real, proper, dyed in the wool moper-experience in a nightclub, Fibbers on Parnell St is the only place to head. Fibbers play heavy metal, and not just one Metallica song slotted in over the course of the night like Whelans might do, but for pretty much the entire night. And they don’t do it in a sort of Spinal Tap, ironic way like«Wow, those guys are in such an adolescent state of arrested development, so much so that it’s cool». No Fibbers, and their patrons, actually listen to heavy metal under the delusion that it is aurally a pleasant experience. Nutters. For the men folk at Fibbers, long hair and beards is the order of the day. For the women… Well, as everyone knows, most girls will have outgrown the ridiculous metal affectation by the time they are eighteen or so, so there are very few women. And why would they want to go and mosh with a load of unwashed men with weird organisms growing in their unkempt beards? All this being said, Fibbers isn’t the worst spot in the world. The drink is cheap(€ 2 on Mondays), and the music certainly makes a change from anywhere else in town. Just don’t go if you want to pull, as the place is a complete sausage-fest(although if you go showered and well groomed, you will have a leg up on most of the competition). So, if you want something completely different for a night out, head to Fibbers, particularly if it’s a Monday. Better yet, wear your Britney t-shirt there.

Le Fibbers est certainement un des pubs les plus cool de Dublin! La musique est de style rock et métal. La clientèle est sympa et colorée! Les boissons sont à des prix abordables et vous pouvez même avoir une free pint si vous participez au rock karaōke night!

Fibbers is always handy if u fancy a night out away from all the typical crap clubs in town that play the same auld music as radio stations are playin all day long. Now im not a rocker in fact i love dance music so i dont go here for the tunes although they aint bad either :-) But its just type place anyone can go into and just relax not have to get all dressed up and not have to blow all there money on mucky pints. So ya to be honest who cares bout the darkness and the lovely jacks haha id rather go in any night the week then some over priced fancy place that will kick u out around 1am anyway.

Fibbers is a dirty little pub on parnell street that tends to smell by the end of the night and judging from that alone it should be an awful place, but it is actually my favourite place for a night out in dublin. Its a good night out with dancing without the need to get dressed up or wear heels :) actually i would strongly advise against heels or hevy clothes becaues you will find that they are very impractical in this place! Thursday nights are the best in my opinion, the door charge is 5e and drinks are 3e the thing that makes this pub so different from so many others is the community, it is a place where you can talk to anyone and everyone. The music is rock and heavy metal and i would not recomend this pub on a thursday to anyone who considers themselves old.
