I had a great experience at the Hemidemisemi Quaverbar located in The Gibson Hotel. The space is really friendly, fresh and inviting. Convenient for taking in a nice meal, or hanging out watching Rugby. I found a seat at the bar. The service was quick and efficient, and the selections plentiful. I settled on the Malbec. The server recommended their burger, which was excellent. I ended up meeting a nice lady at the bar and spending a few hours shooting the breeze. I’d certainly stay at The Gibson Hotel again, and I’d recommend giving the Hemidemisemi Quaverbar a shot!

Outside and in, the Hemidemisemiquaver bar(not typing that again) is like a place where the recession never happened. That’s probably why it felt like a place where all the air has been sucked out of the room. The atmosphere of the place felt apologetic. Which is a pity, because it’s a nice spot. The décor seems to be the result of someone crashing a truck full of neon paint and brushed aluminium into one of the trendier sections of Ikea(but in a good way). The layout is excellent too, being there on the warmest day of the year made the terrace overlooking the O2 look especially good. The food is Asian fusion and the bar offers a nice line in cocktails. Both are a little over-priced for what you get. This seems to be a result of the relatively competition-free location and stream of tourists visiting the O2. Nothing like being a big fish in a semi-derelict pond. All in all, a good spot if you’re waiting to head into the O2, but if the same spot opened on Dawson Street, you wouldn’t be rushing to get in the door.
