Amazing burgers in Dublin. Who would have thought !! Portions are big, so two people can share. They have rally good local Irish beer!

I was already there but more than a year ago. Now that I moved to the neighbourhood I wanted to try again and I wasn’t disappointed. God the lamb burger with Brie(I’m French after all) pear ginger and Jo relish, and I decided to have their sweet potato fries. Now first thing first, their sweet potatoes fries are the best. It’s not fries but more like cubes of sweet potatoes cooked to perfection. The burger was tasty as well and perfectly cooked — I love meat and especially lamb so I tend to be fussy but I have nothing bad to say. Got a glass of house white which was nice(all the others are by the bottle). I was pleasantly surprised as we didn’t have to wait for a table on a Friday evening around 7. Staff was adorable.

The burger is really dry and had no flavor. I assume they only stay in business due to tourists because I doubt many people would chose to go back here.

I am a big fan of this restaurant. The good: –Plenty of veggie options –DELICIOUS veggie burgers, not the cheap frozen kind from the grocery stores –Their chips are amazing, perfectly seasoned –Great music –Decent staff However, I do have a few complaints that removed a star: –Patrons sit at a long rectangular table, meaning you’ll probably be seated next to a stranger. This would be fine, if the stranger wasn’t actually right at your elbow! More room please! –This could be construed as a positive quality, but the burgers are too big! It’s hard to get a good bite without everything falling out all over the plate. I usually have to eat the remains with a fork. Again, not the biggest problem in the world.

This is hands down my favorite burger joint on the planet. It’s not for everyone, but it sure is for me! Community tables(it’s ok for Octoberfest why not here?). Menus are colorful. There’s a DJ spinning cool tunes most of the time. They serve Duvel big bottles, my favorite beer. Try the lamb burger with spicy peanut sauce, Irish bacon and a fried egg. So good… nowhere else. The number of meat/sauce combos is mesmerizing.

What a cool little place in Rathmines. We were in Dublin for a week and this was one of my favorite places to eat. It was kind of like build your own burger with a twist. It was delicious. Pick your poultry, then your dressing, etc. It was fantastic. I hope some place like this opens in the state’s.

I’m surprised at a few negative recent reviews. My experience around mid-June 2015 was excellent. Everyone in my group loved their burgers. The chips(french fries) had an excellent dip/sauce/aioli/whatever. But ask for only one serving container of those chips that everyone in your dining party can sample, because you’ll be so full from eating the burger. It’s a small place, so a large group might have difficulty getting seated here when it is busy.

Service: The waitress was polite and the service was generally good Food: Where do I start? The bun was tough and extremely dry. The bacon was not chargrilled and did not taste about anything, so it was the meat. They have their own ketchup, which cannot be compared to the real stuff. In general, the burger was very unpleasant and disappointing Atmosphere: The music was so loud that we could barely speak. I am not sure if it was the waiter’s fault but it was a nightmare. Cost: 54.74 € for 3 burgers, 3 chips, one coke and a beer. Quite expensive General: This place is very overrated. The burger is dry and tasteless and I was expecting much more from a place that serves only burgers. My advice is to stay away from it!

Burger… How ye like your burger? Burgers, burgers!!! This menu is shit hot! Choose your meat preference and then I mean the most bizarre concoctions of toppings, peanut chilli sauce… WHAT! Banana… WHAT! What’s also super cool is you can opt for burger bun or have it on a tortilla. I opted for the tortilla but my god, my jaw dropped when I saw the tower of a burger than my friends were served, but hey the tortilla had a lot of flare and glam about it too… Seriously enjoyed my chicken fillet on tortilla with egg, bacon and relish with lettuce, onion and tomato. It was yumtastic, really enjoyable! Sides… We as a group shared onion rings, fries and sweet potato fries — all were super tasty, well seasoned

Fresh to order, hot burgers and sandwiches! HUGE portions with the options to build your own. It’s a cute place with great music on rotation. Community style sitting on benches, but still calm enough to have privacy with your own company! This place is excellent for a small group, but does get really packed during dinner time. I’d suggest a Sunday meal before heading to the movies across the street. More importantly, the food itself. Everything I have had, has been so good. Both the chicken and the burgers are cooked perfectly so that they’re juicy and covered in toppings! An absolute must would be the onion rings and the sweet potato fries! It might be a bit much to get both, and a main, but what the heck — treat yourself!

I had the dube burger, and fries. The beef was over cooked and had a flavor which lead my memory to question if the beef was going bad and the life was cooked out of it to mascarade that fact. The fries where nice. Points for creativity with the JO burger sauce, it didn’t align with my palate. Part of the experience here is the large bun to give larger than life effect. The balance is all off. The larger bun make the sandwich unwieldy. The staff is friendly and attentive, music was a bit intrusive to conduct a conversation, but it was meant to keep the energy alive. The environment is a successful choice for the concept, however its the food flavor which will keep me looking for alternatives.

Went to a burger place without being a real burger eater — the reason for our visit was more about hunger and convenience, than for the food itself. But I most admit I’ve been wanting to try Jo burger after visiting Skinflint(pizza), as well as Crackbird(fried chicken), of which the former is probably the best pizza in town. And oh, then there’s also Bear, the meet restaurant also owned by Jo Macken. Had the fish of the day in a tortilla bread with avocado and salsa. It was fresh, fish was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My mother and partner had burger and lamb burger, respectively, and we all thought they were ok but none of us were blown away. Surprisingly, my fish choice at this burger joint seemed to have had the best pick of the day. As a side, we had sweet potato fries. Oh my. They were sweet, crispy, salty, and soft all at the same time. Loved it. The portion was huge. We split it in three but was not able to finish. On the bread side which I sampled from mom’s burger, I was a bit disappointed. Found it dry and too white and fluffy. For a 12 Euro or so burger, I would expect more. For my next visit, I’ll sure stick to the tortilla and probably fish of the day as well.

Mehhhh! My visit to Jo’burger Rathmines wasn’t fantastic I have to say, I had a better experience in their outlet on Castle Market street in town, although it has been a while since I’ve been there. I suppose my main issue was the service. It was 6pm mid week, the place was full and there was literally only two people working. The chef in the back preparing all the food and one waitress doing everything else, taking orders, all the waitressing, clearing tables etc. Seems strange to have so few staff! Now I don’t want to be too harsh, they worked hard and were pretty efficient. There wasn’t a huge wait for the food but it took a while to order and any extra drinks etc you wanted during your meal I found myself having to leave the table and go to the waitress rather than her come to me! For my burger I had the Chargrilled chicken fillet with caramelized chilli banana, bacon and goats cheese. Sounds delicious! And the main fillings of the burger were a delicious combination. The bun didn’t seem the freshest however. For sides we shared fries and sweet potato fries which were fine. And there is a reasonable selection of craft beers to choose from. Overall, I like Jo’Burger but this experience wasn’t amazing!

I’m a huge fan of jo’burger! The food is out of this world. If you’re starving and have an insatiable lust for quality burgers look no further. I always get the 28 day dry aged beef, with a bun and love the 2 bacon strip topping along with Brie and home made relish. My girlfriend is not a big fan of burgers however every know and again given the option to indulge in a tortilla wrap with a chicken breast, rocket and a mango dressing she too has warmed to this establishment and we are regular visitors! We always find that the burger itself is so filling we can’t eat the delicious sweet potato fries we always nibble at inbetween breathers that are necessary to prevent us from falling into a food coma. The only way I can knock this place is that in the summer any student discounts don’t apply which surprised us and given the price of the food is expensive enough that many won’t be able to visit it as much as they might like!

It’s a normal burger bar, just dimmer lights and louder music. Food is fine for a hangover feed nothing fancy, but the staff brings it down badly. Maybe I just got them on a bad day but all I got was rudeness and slow service. I can’t see myself eating there again

Have been to Jo Burger lots of times and am always impressed! The setting is great, and the menu in comic books is so unique! The food itself is just as good, I tend to get the salads or the burger with mango chutney, which are both fabulous! The chips are delicious, and the drinks in jars are so refreshing.

Decent Burgers, especially the Zondi which is a green thai curry burger. Great options for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Their vegetarian patties are great… and their spiced chicken is decent. I find the vibe not a cool hipster vibe, more like annoying hipster. Music is too loud, the seating is awkward. You’re seated super close to strangers. I don’t get the wannabe hipster vibe and its really really annoying. But their Zondi burger is great. The sides are crap. The music is crap. Ps: the managers a little meh— could use the meal without the attitude. Then again customer service in Dublin, from what I’ve experienced isn’t the best.

I always judge a burger place on, if they ask how you would like your burger cooked… When they didn’t this was my first concern. The place itself was a very alternative setting with loud music and canteen style tables situation in the middle of rathmines beside the PoloLith shop it’s casual. The burger however was overcooked and lacked in any real beefy meaty flavour and far too much unwanted lettuce the chips also didn’t have any real flavour… The sweet potatoe chips and onion rings wer nice but nothing mind blowingly good. Overall I was disappointed with the meal, I wanted to really love the meal but can’t lie to my fellow Unilocalers. Wouldn’t be bak sadly.

Nice burger & fries. Ordered sweet potato fries. So good. Service stank up the joint. Took way too long to get our burgers. Waiter needs some people skills. Restaurant set up bench style seating.

A beef burger with goats cheese and carmelised banana?! Wrong you say? Or so so very right? This beast was absolutely right in many ways. I am a freak for the combination of weird flavours together, and have a current obsession with goat’s cheese, so it suited me down to the ground. In fact I’d go so far as to say that anyone who tries it may think the same, no matter how skeptical they may be. The meat too was dense and excellent quality. Now for the bug bear. It’s just too tall! More of a fan of UFO shape than a Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Jo’ Burger just ain’t structured right. The thing is, if it’s that tall, you’re never going to get the perfect bite each time. In fact, it’s going to be a struggle to get two of the five or six ingredients in each time, with all the falling all over the place they’re doing. What you need is a nice wide bun, it enables better dispersion of fillings, and prevents loss of the tasty stuff. I have been told however, that it is possible to get a burger in here in a tortilla wrap. Now that could be a solution!
