Johnnie Cupcakes

Giovanni makes a lot of these cupcakes himself!
He’s the lovely 30 something Italian guy that mans the cupcake shop most days. Ladies eat your hearts out! (That’s actually kind of a weird phrase now that I’ve typed it)
He serves you with a smile and a wave and will talk to you all day about his passions which are many and close between: Confectionary Art, Poetry, Juventus and Love Making.
Some of his proudest designs include minions from the Despicable Me movies (which I still haven’t seen and probably won’t. I know people say they’re good but the people who say that are usually really boring or annoying) and Oscar the Grouch which he has encased in a glass box and promises never to sell no matter what the price.
Great cupcakes and a fun little seating area where you get a great view of Giovanni’s buns (if you know what I mean)

Verdict: Subpar. VERY dried out cake and too much lard in the frosting. We came at the end of the day so the selection was very sparse, but I won’t hold that against them. It seems like they are set up more so for specialty ordering than a mall kiosk (which is what they are). Disappointing really.

Just the thought of them make me want a book a flight to Dublin.
I’ve tasted them all. My favorites: Vanilla Bean, New Yorker and of course Banoffi!
I wish they could come to France but for now they’re only expanding in the UK.
If you go to Dublin, make a quick stop at the Ilac Centre to taste them!
