A cozy place with a very few tables and lovely sushi. Portions are ok, if compared with other sushi places they’re smaller but the quality is really high. Better book a table because it’s always full. Lovely staff!

You couldn’t imagine such a restaurant at the end of this cul de sac. Very small and very cosy Miso soup is tasty and you have bus pieces of fish. Sushis are excellent but you don’t have enough for the price

This is a nice little sushi joint down a lane in Ranelagh. It’s reasonably pricey and I don’t think the sushi matches the quality of musashi or Zakura. It can also be a little quiet some evenings, but it’s still delicious sushi. They do have a takeaway option and they deliver to a wide area which is awesome if you live nearby

Ok sushi. We had platters of rolls. Everything tasted fresh. Not sure how it compares to other Dublin sushi but, coming from Vancouver Canada, I think we have more delicious and innovative rolls.

My mom was in town from Texas for 4 days. We had been talking about getting Sushi and decided we’d get it on Monday– her last day. Michie was the closest to where we were staying and it had good reviews, so we walked there and BAM! It was closed. Oops, I didn’t see that it is closed on Mondays. The restaurant was getting some renovations done, so the owner, Michel, was there. He offered to pick up food from the other location and bring it back to the house where we were staying. We said we might go somewhere closer to where we were planning to get our nails done after, so he told us to call him when we were done eating at home, and he’d pick us up and drive us to our nail appointment. Wow! Michel was so nice. He made a blip in our plan into a better afternoon than we could have imagined. For that alone, I am so appreciative. But wait, there’s more! The sushi was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Philadelphia roll and the Michie special roll. Each piece was big and packed with fish and veg. We also got the Salmon and Tuna combo, which was really great value for so much food. Also, I was super happy that Michie had Gluten free soy sauce(Tamari). Overall, Michie is the best place in Dublin to get sushi. It has great food and great service. 5 stars!

Best sushi in Ireland. It was thru my univ mate in Amsterdam who told me about his mate running a sushi joint in Dublin! :o it would be excellent if they can open a branch in the Northside… Phibsboro or even Santry, Michie? ;-)

If I could give this place a zero I would. We’d heard great things about this little sushi place hidden in Ranelagh. We weren’t hugely hungry so decided to split the Ura Maki Combo. It could be that we were unfortunate and simply ordered the wrong thing but we won’t be going back to try again. For the most part everything was fairly tasteless but the main thing that bugged me was that the tuna used was out of a tin… same as you would use making a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich. Sushi is supposed to be really good quality fresh fish. Since they used such bad quality fish in the dish we tried, I can’t imagine any other dish is much better.

I used to live on Chelmsford Lane and almost lived in Michie Sushi. I moved out of Ranelagh a few years ago and didn’t use it as much but I was in Ranelagh a few weeks ago and decided to try it out again. It’s still as good. Great quality sushi at a decent price. Some of the best sushi I’ve eaten in Dublin since leaving Osaka. Yum!

I get here take away from time to time and they deliver! I actually don’t know another sushi place which delivers. Also really great quality of the sushi, fresh and yummy combinations! Haven’t really had something else here besides of a miso soup :) but this one is good too

The best sushi I’ve had in Dublin. If you’re in Ranelagh it’s worth a visit for first timers and sushi veterans alike. No frills little place, but the food certainly has plenty of character.

This has become our regular spot on the Southside whenever we’re craving Japanese food(which, lately, has been about once a week). While the seating is sparse(typical of the area), it’s just off the beaten track, so we’ve been lucky in getting seated quickly. Alternatively, if it is packed, they do takeaway & delivery to the local area(even down to us in Rathfarnham), which is wonderful. Complimentary green tea — definitely a plus. So far we’ve had the miso ramen(with chicken and with beef), the teriyaki steak soba, and both the salmon and cucumber maki — all are especially fresh and well-prepared(the beef miso ramen is a bit on the saltier side, just a heads up!). For dessert it ranges from traditional mochi for curious ones like me, to warm brownies for the more cautious hubs. The service and prices are both nice enough. Overall, despite the tight sitting quarters, the location and food will keep bringing us back, very happily! Thanks for being there, Michie Sushi.

The Sushi here was lovely, really fresh & tasty and they’ve a really comprehensive menu. Eat in once and see if it’s for you. For me it’s a bit too small and cramped. That being said, for the food alone it’s worth a visit but for me it’ll be takeaway for now on.

The majority of reviewers here have billed Michie as a no-frills experience where the food is the star of the show. Intrigued, my wife and waited for a nice sunny day to a stroll along the canal into Ranelagh to see what all the fuss was about. My expectations were high; I thought I was about to experience the kind of hidden gem you find tucked down a back street, the kind of place that serves unpretentious but amazingly tasty food in unassuming surroundings. I am not a restaurant snob — give me somewhere homely and reasonably priced that serves fantastic food over a posh, pretentious place with bad food any day of the week — so Michie sounded like it would be right up my alley. It’s certainly right up an alley, all right; a run-down, narrow little alley with scrubby plants growing out of cracks in concrete walls. Aesthetic considerations aside, we found it easier to spot than some previous posters. The big red Michie Sushi sign on the side of the building is clearly visible from the main road and probably a fairly recent addition; indeed, it’s likely a direct response to those difficulties! My first impressions once we’d entered the restaurant itself were that Michie is about as basic a sushi joint as I’ve ever come across; the interior has the feel of an old fashioned greasy spoon café or roadside diner. Ultimately, the food was what we had come for and none of the above had dampened our enthusiasm as we waited to try what had been billed by others as the best sushi in Dublin. Sadly, the quality of the sushi at Michie did not live up to these expectations and didn’t trump the general shortcomings of the location and décor. The sushi wasn’t bad per se, especially at the price point, but the standard of presentation was poor and the rolls were consistently sloppily constructed. I love the attention to detail and precision that goes into a good sushi roll, and this key element was lacking here. Sadly one of our orders did not arrive; the waitress went off to check with the kitchen staff, after which a loud and clearly audible argument ensued in the kitchen, making us feel somewhat uncomfortable. If I lived close by I suppose I’d pop in here now and then as it’s the only sushi place around Ranelagh, but if you’re on the North side of town and have access to places like Musashi, J2 and Yamamori, I’d suggest sticking to those as you’ll get sushi that is of a higher quality in a much nicer setting. I’d say Musashi does the best food, Yamamori has the nicest décor and J2 has the friendliest staff and has that beautiful view across the Liffey; take your pick from those and give Michie a miss. This is sadly average food in average surroundings, which I see no need to settle for when there are better options available.

I LOVE that they deliver! Sushi is my favourite food and I adore all of it. My pal introduced me to Michie Sushi and I spoil myself ordering in. I cannot get enough. The sushi is tasty and you’re spoilt with the party sets available too. With no sushi places delivering, it’s tough to find places who offer good sushi after 6pm. Thank you Michie Sushi!

Ok, so last time things really didn’t work out between Michie and me. But having moved to the South side and its limited availability of Sushi places, I decided to give this place another go. And I’m glad I did. It’s a solid sushi place with good variety of the typical Irish rolls(California, Dragon, Salmon Crème cheese etc.). The rolls are nicely prepared and obviously the fish is fresh — which helps ;-) I wouldn’t say it’s the best sushi I’ve ever had and the rolls are a bit too big for my taste. If you’ve ever been at Yamamori’s you’ll know what I mean, they’re similar. Other than that the service is good, very friendly and prompt(they only have 6 tables or so). I recommend the Temaki Combo which is actually good value for money. Lots of people come by to collect orders, so its actually quite a busy place, but if you’re in Ranelagh you might as well pop in. Big groups is still a no-go(due to limited space) but a nice dinner for two is always an option.

Really enjoyed my brief lunch, I had salmon maki and takuan maki(pictured). The maki was really delicious, and you could tell that good quality ingredients were used, from the salmon right down to the nori, the wasabi here has a much deeper flavour and kick than those found in other sushi places in Dublin. The staff were friendly, service was prompt and I was given complimentary green tea while waiting for my order. Looking forward to coming back for dinner soon!

One day, I had a craving for some sushi. «Hey, let’s try out this new Unilocal schmartphone app thing,» I said to myself «Oh, there’s one really close! It’s called Michie Sushi! 5 minutes walk away» «Weird how I’ve never seen the place before…» 30 minutes later… Ahha. It’s tucked down a dodgy alley, with a small sign on the door, no wonder I’ve never noticed it! (Note: by dodgy, I mean«Ranelagh dodgy», not actually dodgy) I go inside anyway, and note that there are 5 tables or so. «Take away, please!» The place is jam packed. I try to stand in a corner out of the way of the bustling staff and other takeaway orderers while I look at the menu, but it’s a very tight place. The food is great. Proper sushi. Pretty damn cheap too. They give you the cutest little soy sauce bottles too. I couldn’t recommend it more

Highlights were the incredible salmon sashimi and the udon noodles. Michie is a popular take-away place, but we dined in. It was pretty basic dining, but the sushi was well worth going back for. I haven’t tried any other sushi in Dublin, but I’m not sure I need to. Next time we’re getting double the salmon and more noodles. And we’ll be back soon.

First off, Michie Sushi is not an easy place to find. But, there is something very cool about arriving at Chelmsford Lane, and seeing the Michie sign lit up down the street. The food was really good, and a big improvement when your best sushi options are supermarket varieties. The Ura Maki combo has delicious tuna and salmon. Not too sure about the crabstick though, I like seafood with actual seafood in it. The gyoza was good, especially the spicy soy sauce that came with it. And the complimentary green tea was much appreciated, given the cold weather outside. Next time, I think I’ll give the sea urchin a shot!
