Fish and chips for students at € 6.50 was a bargain. Also the portion was big and not oily at all! This place was recommended to us by the Irish Whiskey. This place is my second favorite.

3.5 stars — had to round down for the majority vote! Checked out SMS Popdown on Saturday and had mixed reviews between the four of us, but overall enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere of the place is great for a weekend with its horseshoe booths and cool lighting. They have a very small selection of wine and beer, but the prices were reasonable and we enjoyed both of the reds that we ordered. For myself I ordered the tuna sashimi tostadas to start and the jerk spiced chicken as my main. For the rest of the group we had another tuna tostada, an order of prawn taquitos, the scallops, the sirloin and two orders of the Iberico flank tacos. The food came out quickly and the starters were lovely. Fresh and flavourful tuna with a heaping spoonful of guacamole. The prawn taquitos were also nice(mind you, not the taquitos I was expecting) and our friend loved his scallops. The mains are where the dissent happens. Both of the guys who ordered the tacos thought they were good but not great. Personally, I think it is their own fault for expecting Mexican food greatness from the same owners of 777. My friend with the sirloin enjoyed her food but I don’t think would make a special trip back for it. As for my chicken, I definitely won the lottery of the Mains. Juicy meat with excellent seasonings and paired with a yummy chili corn slaw. Would happily order again. As the popdown is a temporary concept I’ll be interested to see what the menu for Luna will look like. Hopefully there will be less influence from 777 and more dishes like my jerk spiced chicken.

I really wasn’t that impressed… It wasn’t bad but the food was standard and nothing Id go running back for. The service was superb but the wine wasn’t great as i had a banging headache before I got home. I would mugs rather done in the café than the pop down. This is just my personal opinion but their new restaurant Luna opens up and I hope the standards improve!

SMS Popdown is a pop up located in the basement of SMS(super miss sue) which is why it’s a pop down not a pop up — funny — right ?? Well the thing is that they are waiting for full electricity to be connected before they open a new restaurant«Luna» so the owner presented different dishes from different restaurants in their chain(777/dillingers/butchers grill)” i still didn’t had the opportunity to go in any off those restaurants yet so was a perfect chance to enjoy those creative tasty dishes from all of them… The steak was perfectly cooked the tunna was amazing for sure i cant say when was the last time i had such a good surprise from some tostadas I think they could have more desert options not only apple pie but that was no big deal for me i really enjoyed oy my dinner.

Ate in this new pop down Restraunt last night. It does not look to temporary, high quality fittings abound, toilets are lovely as is the bar area. Very well put together. We both started with the tuna tostadas, which are a great mix of fresh zingy crunchy and savoury, very tasty. My date had the Steak and tomato salad which was a lovely looking piece of meat, the charcoal grill giving a lovely cooking. I had the pork rib, which benefitted from the grill also, lovely piece of meat, possibly on the small side. Lovely spicy coleslaw with the pork. We drank bottles of peroni and a carafe of wine which was quite good. Staff were excellent, but they do not take American Express which is a pain! Hopefully this will be addressed
