I got my hair done here yesterday and I have to say the girl, Aoife did a very good job. I was going from highlights to dark roots and blonde ends and she really listened to what I wanted and she seemed interested in what she was doing and knew her stuff about colouring hair. The salon was nice and quiet as it was Monday morning and she took her time and made sure I was happy with everything. It was very reasonably priced too compared to some other places that charge far more for the same service

Fantastic salon. The staff are very friendly and professional, gave me plenty of advice and I came out of the salon with the nicest haircut and colour I think i’ve ever had!(Albert did the colour and Niamh the cut). The salon itself is bright and airy and therefore doesn’t feel too hectic like some salons. Giant mugs of lovely coffee to top it off. I’ll definitely be going back

This place was unbelievable, and not in a good way. When I walked in there wasn’t anyone at the front desk, for 15 minutes! Finally I gave up waiting and just walked upstairs. There was a girl painting her nails, and the other was doing a cut. I was told to have a seat, then the girl who was painting her nails came and said she would be helping me. I told her I wanted to cut off most of my hair, and i also showed her several pictures of what I was trying to accomplish with my cut. She said ok and began. About 20 minutes into the cut, I noticed she lost her guide. So she began just blow drying it saying we will cut more then(at this point I’m terrified). She couldn’t even blow dry it because she fu*&ed it up THATMUCH! Then she began trying to fix one side… yes ONESIDE. By this time I knew I had to be dealing with a very junior stylist, which I generally avoid like the plague. Since this place was recommended to me by a friend I didn’t think they would do this to my hair. I left in tears(which was a first) with an asymmetrical cut(not by choice) full of holes and no direction or style WHATSOEVER. My hair looks like a helmet which i explained early on why my hair needed to fall at a certain length. The stylist offered me wax… are FU#*^NG kidding me, wax?! It falls exactly where it make my face the most unflattering on top of one side having almost no hair. I don’t think I can even get it fixed without having to get a pixie cut or shave my head. Nor do I have any courage left to let anyone even touch my hair. ABSOLUTELYMORTIFYING!

I decided to wait a bit to post a review as new hairstyles sometimes only ‘take’, psychologically if not in reality, after a few days. My Art Team hairstyle has not ‘taken’ at all. It’s not just a bad cut, it’s a stupid cut and I am beyond annoyed. I’m used to hamfisted and unimaginative ‘stylists’ with a fixed template in their mind imposing a fashionable but unsuitable for my hair/face on my head. But the last cut I got at the House of Colour on Abbey Street(unreviewed! Stupid, thoughtless me!) was really lovely, suited me perfectly and really seemed to make the process of growing my hair long again fun and manageable. So I explained this to my stylist at Art Team and asked her to just give me a trim. I explained well. I explained articulately. I explained why. She asked if I wanted to ‘unify’ the sections of hair which were cut choppily(in fairness it had begun to look like a mullet, but only because it needed to be trimmed back). I said no, just a trim please. I’m growing my hair y’know. Some time later, I walked out with a bob. Seriously. A cute feathered short bob. Exactly what she had asked me if I wanted and exactly what I had explained that I had not wanted. Unbelievable. To add insult to injury she blowdried it into the stupidest helmet-hair look I have ever seen on my head. I will not be back. I don’t mind too much if a stylist commits a crime against my hair because they’re not imaginative or experienced enough to give me a cut that suits me, that happens. What I do mind is being ignored and having a good cut ruined. I’m not sure if it’s that the stylist just couldn’t understand what I wanted or just didn’t care and did what she thought was best but either way I won’t be back.
