This is a great place for a good bite to sit down or a bite to go. All the food is pre-made and reheated when ordered, but still tasted very fresh! I ordered vegetable tortilla and it was great and tasty, but if you don’t like peas, I wouldn’t recommend. Prices are reasonable and they offer free wifi.

I had a chocolate chip cookie here and it was really bad. It tasted more like an extremely buttery biscuit than a cookie and the chocolate chips seemed as if they were placed on top after the fact rather than baked into them. I had to throw out around ½ of it(I was desperately hungry). Hopefully some of their other things are okay.

Best place to go for a tea and coffee plus a delicious cake in dublin. The crew is also very welcoming

Love the food in here and the couple who run it are also lovely. I most often go for the calzone, its delicious. The desserts are lovely two, and I’ve gotten them free, twice, once because the card machine wasn’t working(that didn’t really bother me) and the second time, because it was close to Christmas and they were closing for a few days. Lovely gestures I must say. Not that many seats so you can’t be guaranteed a sit down, but with all the offices near by, I’d be sure they get a lot of orders to go.

It’s time this became a five star review. The standard of scones and pastries remains high here. The scones are massive too. The coffee deal in the morning is pretty great too: 3EUR for coffee and a scone/pastry. And I’m happy to say their Americano is good. I have to admit at the start it wasn’t, but getting to know a new coffee machine takes time and I’m glad to see they’ve gotten to know theirs well. They’ve brought in this cake display cabinet and everything in it looks flipping divine, naughty but very divine. I need to try one out. Highly recommended.

I have been in here for lunch a few times and can I just say — I love this place! Its always very popular are lunch. I just love all the treats that you can get there! The food is great quality at reasonable prices! If there was a drawback — its that there is not enough seating area, it needs to be bigger to accommodate is popularity! Not a bad complaint I think! :D

I’d heard a *lot* about this place, so expectations were high — luckily, the Birdcage lived up to them!

Whether looking for a quick brekkie on the run, or want to treat yourself to some good coffee or chocolate nibble, this would absolutely be somewhere I would recommend. They do porridge for 2.50 and really thrifty lunch deals too(healthy and delicious, exactly as food should be.) Their coffee is also really boody good. I’m always surprised when I don’t see it mentioned in «Best Coffee in Dublin» lists, but I suppose it’s still only a new kid on the block, and a super small one at that, so here’s hoping it’ll get the credit it deserves one day in the future!.. Oh oh! –They also use real dark chocolate chips for their hot chocolates, which is an instant indicator of a café that’s worth its pinch of salt!.. ;-)

I’m over from the states for work for a few weeks, I’m SO glad the Birdcage is near my office. As others have stated, the staff are so nice and friendly and the food is great. I’ve never had a problem finding veg options: the goat cheese and caramelized onions sandwich is delightful! The desserts are fabulous! These are real european desserts, made with a lot of butter, delish. The service is quick and friendly and the selection is great. I highly recommend this place.

Went to this bakery with a friend after hearing too many compliments about it. This place lives up to its hype and offers extra-delicious treats and a very cozy atmosphere! Will definitely visit again!

I will give it 20 out of 10. I live in portobello and every time i pass through hourtcourt i cant resist their temptations. The staff are super nice and friendly(Italian girl). The chief is Italian too and they have selections of italian pastries and sicilian desserts(omg their teramisu is ma fav and the rochie chocalatee) .The second thing i would definitely recommend is their soups. I would suggest; have espresso and of corse try their desserts soooo worth trying. In the end, They open from 7 till 5:30 from mon to fri. go their an enjoy the italian atmosphere and you might get lucky and be there at the pizza day.

The Birdcage bakery is a lovely little spot for lunch or cakes. There is a wide variety of sweet treats: macaroons, homemade chocolates and plenty of beautiful cakes. They serve salads, pasta dishes and sandwiches. Everything is fresh and colourful and prices are very reasonable.

SOCUTE . Staff are really friendly . Prices are very reasonable and they have an amazing variety! I keep missing the ‘wellness’ croissants as they are ALWAYS sold out which is a great sign but maybe they need to make bigger batches. Store is always clean and the owner defiantly pays attention to detail. such a ‘feel good’ bakery.

Eh. YUM! Another place that makes me wish I owned a bakery. Even though I can’t bake. And don’t like working in shops. And am a secret eater liable to OD on food if I did own such bakery… Anyway I digress. This place is absolutely perfect. Seriously. I can’t think of one thing that’s wrong with it. Except maybe that they don’t serve wine. But why would they… The choice is immense. There are unbelieveable cakes, pastries, chocolates, macroons, etc. I succumbed to a tiramisu macaroon which was amazing. I followed it with a € 4.90 tortilla and salad deal — the salad was absolutely jam packed with chicken, nearly a full breast worth, plus rocket, sundried tomatoes and some onions. The tortilla was perfectly put together, full of veg and was delicious. I was stuffed to the brim afterwards. They have so much other options too. I had my eye on broccoli soup, calzones, sandwiches, and loads more. I’d like to also note that the staff in here were really lovely. So talkative, sweet, friendly and genuine. What can be better than amazing food with lovely staff? Not a lot!

Delicious treats, good sandwiches, good coffee, cute place, lovely staff. What more could you want in your local café? They continuously mix things up so there is always something new to try and consequently become obsessed over. And now they are open till 6! If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try — you won’t be disappointed!

Treats, coffee, sambos and salad boxes. Cute little place with some tasty treats and friendly staff. The treats are a couple of euro, salad for 4 and the sambos are around 5. They could lay off the mustard on the ham and cheese focaccia but otherwise I’ve no complaints.

I’m hesitant to write this review because I don’t want this place to get so busy I can’t enjoy it… BUT they just opened and they deserve to do well. I often find myself waiting outside my husband’s building to go to lunch or dinner(he has serious time management issues) so my options to pass the time are to play on my phone or stare at my surroundings. The other day I took option two and I’m so glad I did because there was a bakery in front of me that hadn’t been there a few weeks before. We already had lunch plans but I decided I must grab a treat afterward. When you walk in you are greeted with a clean, cute shop with a few dine in tables and a smiling staff. There are a variety of sandwiches on one side and then the rest is filled with French treats. Having already eaten I went with just one item — the pistachio financier. I’m not sure what I expected but it was so moist and had the perfect amount of sweetness. I ate as slow as possible to try and make it last. If the review was just for the financier I would give it a 5! A few days later I came back and helped myself to the prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella focaccia sandwich. Great flavors and a good size for the price. I was craving a financier again but this time I got the hazelnut. I’m not sure how but it equally as good! I imagine this will be a weekly stop for me… so much for my waistline!
