Halo is a chic restaurant situated in the Morrison Hotel on Ormond Quay. This really diverse space set over two levels boasts a blend of full-length mirrors, unconventional panes of randomly positioned dark metal, antique tables, velvet upholstered dining chairs in an array of wealthy purples and scarlets not to mention dainty statuettes overlooking the diners and dramatic long velvet curtains all working to fashion a certain French-boudoir chic landscape. Within this boutique milieu service is unceremonious, yet proficient and engaging. Any selection from the menu is very creatively presented, carrying on the artistic edge established by the décor. My friend and I enjoyed ‘Sean’s Monkfish Wellington for 2, Market Veg, Spuds and Mozzarella in a Herby Parcel with a Lemon Crème Fraiche Dip’ and relished in the flawless dessert ‘After Eight’ — a humorous conception comprising of peppermint parfait, a sumptuous dark chocolate pyramid and mint liquor. The cuisine was utterly delectable and even more enjoyable within the comfortable boutique surroundings. The only ostensible flaw was that some of the tables are exceedingly close to one another making it virtually impossible to conduct a private chat. Certainly that section of the restaurant is more appropriate for the seating of larger groups.
