This hidden bar in the middle of the Temple Bar district was exactly what I needed last night. Do make reservations if you want to get in. I had a cocktail called«Absinthe Minded» which happens to be the name of one of my favourite Belgian bands. We shared some tapa platters of top-notch cheeses, meats and chutneys. The music and interior will guarantee a cosy night out.

Ohhhh, hier will ich gerne nochmal hin.

Vintage Cocktail Club — you rock! My friend discovered VCC on our first night in town — and sadly, the place was so busy we couldn’t get in! He went the following night and loved it so much — that we went back together a couple nights later. One of the awesome things about the VCC is that there isn’t any outdoor advertising for the bar — so you have to know it’s there, and ring a door bell for someone to come down and get you. The drinks are offered by era(1920’s, etc) and feature cocktails for that period — and tells a little story of what was going on during that time. This takes you from just having drinks — to having a complete experience. The cocktails are very tasty — and the service was prompt and attentive. I’d definitely come back on subsequent visits to Dublin!

Cocktails are probably OK but everything else falls below an acceptable standard. We thought we’d try the dinner and cocktail sitting offered. They were half an hour late seating us(we approached the waitress again as we thought we’d been forgotten about). We were sat at a tiny table practically in the kitchen which would barely have accommodated two cocktails, let alone dinner. We asked to move as we had seen a number of empty tables in the floor above and were told there were no other tables available. Once we were finally seated, they proceeded to inform us they couldn’t serve dinner but there were some starters we could choose from… if I’d wanted tapas, I would have gone to Fade Street(maybe we should have — they have good food, service and cocktails!) VCC wasn’t remotely apologetic for ruining our evening and informed us that most of the other patrons were content with the sub-standard service they’d received. VCC have themed themselves on a speakeasy but missed on all accounts.

Love how it’s such a secret venue! Such an alternative atmosphere but their cocktails are to die for! I had food here before as well and it was good but if your going to VCC I’d recommend just the cocktails! Quite expensive so be prepared!

I am a fan of the concept, it made me feel like I was a gangster in the 1920s going into a speakeasy(ok I may have had some drinks by that time alright). The top floor was too crowded, uncomfortably warm, they wouldn’t open the roof so the smoke was very annoying at times and they realized they didn’t have the ingredients for our cocktails half way through so the wait was doubled. The cocktail I got was delicious though, so I will have to go back again and let the club woo me away properly.

Hands down the best cocktails in Dublin. Set in a very secretive location in Temple Bar, it is a gorgeous little spot with beautiful 20’s style décor. Very friendly and attentive staff. I’d recommend the Dirty Wizard or the Purple Pearl cocktails. Get there early or book a table, or you might be left standing waiting for a table for a while!

Visited here with a group of friends. We were amazed by the lovely setting and started with a punch bowl of cocktails. The food took quite some time but when arrived was simply delicious and worth the wait! The wings and beef were top notch but the Brussels sprouts had us wanting more. #notausualsproutlover. VCC is a must if visiting Dublin city. Be sure to book in.

Excellent cocktails and decent bar bites. Enter through a nondescript door labeled VCC in the back alleys of temple bar. Hush hush, dimly lit candles, and velvet seats line the interior. What VCC lacks in quality, they make up for certainly in breadth. One of the most extensive cocktail menus i have laid eyes on, there is definitely a drink for everyone. The cocktails were craft and executed very well. The service was a bit lackluster, but we enjoyed our time nonetheless. PROTIP: Open smoking area on the third floor.

VCC is a speakeasy /high-end cocktail bar found in the tumult of the Temple Bar area of Dublin. It is atmospheric… with low lights, dark wood, and plush seats. The star of the place is the VERY large craft cocktail menu which is sectioned(interestingly) by historical cocktail ‘decades’ that serve as the inspiration for the featured drinks. My wife and I worked our way through a half dozen drinks from different historical periods and were impressed with the lot. The Cuban Rum Cake(which comes paired with bite-size chunks of rum cake) was particularly fine. Several of the drinks have so many ingredients that you are left scratching your head as to what it may taste like. For instance, the Purple Pearl which is built off grapefruit vodka, comes out like a very sweet apéritif. Fortunately, the staff is happy to offer assistance. Our server was very familiar with the drinks and offered informed recommendations based on what we thought of the previous drinks and our described tastes. The food at VCC is also good, which means you can have a solid dining and drinking experience without a let-down. Reservations are almost a ‘must have’ particularly if you plan to show up in the middle of the evening or on a popular night. The entrance is non-descript and you have to ring the bell to gain admittance… so if you don’t have a reservation, you may not even make it past the door.

I’ve heard so much about this place over the past few months so it was one I had on my list that needed to be ticked off. I was in Temple Bar, I’m not a regular visitor to Temple Bar area on nights out so while I was here it was a great excuse to check out VCC. As I approached the all black building with no windows no outside lighting and without any signage I was very much intrigued as to see what was in store behind the mysterious black door. We were only having drinks so we were escorted up the small and windey stairs which had a similar carpet to my nans house-‘vintage’ feel and look was certainly on point! We finally reached the third floor and we were amazed to see a small room packed with people, some standing and the lucky ones sitting at small tables sipping on what looked like very tasty cocktails. We were bursting with excitement to get our cocktail order in but we had to choose a cocktail from a menu, the menu was a book of cocktails with over 80 cocktails to choose from but thankfully the very cool looking cocktail waitress was there to help us narrow down the selection based on what drinks we normally like to drink. As we were waiting for our cocktails we were lucky enough to get a small table in the corner where we stayed for a full hour. Atmosphere os very ‘cool’ and laid back but I would recommend coming early to get yourself a seat. Cocktails were amazing, a little pricey at 12 bucks but you can definitely justify the price because they are the real deal, the atmosphere is buzzing and the décor makes you feel like you’re in East Village in NYC. I definitely recommend.

The VCC is an impressive cocktail lounge in the heart of publand. Since my husband and I are not beer drinkers(and you can only have so much cider), VCC was a welcome respite in Dublin. The interior is dark and romantic. The service is relaxed, and we had adequate time to peruse the lengthy menu. We had a hard time deciding on drinks because there were so many delicious sounding concoctions using housemade cordials, bitters and syrups. I went with the popular Dirty Wizard which was sweet and strong with a ginger kick from the rim. My husband was introduced to poitin in his cocktail. After inquiring, the server told him it was an old Irish spirit, much like moonshine. My husband ordered an additional shot to try it on its own, and he really enjoyed it enough to purchase a bottle the next day. I only wish the VCC didn’t allow smoking on their«terrace» which seemed completely indoors to me. There was a large group smoking cigars, and the stench was overwhelming. The ventilation was obviously lacking. Luckily, a table was ready when we got up to leave or else we wouldn’t have gotten to enjoy their excellent libations.

The highlight of our Dublin visit. Inspired craft libations. Delicious shared plates. More than attentive personalized service. I’d return in a heartbeat. If you’re a fan of ‘speakeasy’ type of establishments such as mlk & hny in NYC or London, or bourbon and branch in SF, or little branch in NYC — or simply appreciate the craft of mixology, then you surely do not want to miss VCC. Our waitress sat down with us and went over what we enjoyed in our cocktails and identified a selection from their menu for us to try. We were a bit particular so this made her job abut harder, however she was never flustered and carried on without missing a pace. I particularly enjoyed bourbon or rye based drinks, but I also love elderflower and fizzes(egg whites). The sloeflower fizz was a great start. Tip: spend some time with their menu, it’s truly fantastic. I’m sure many have tried to keep or purchase one. I certainly wanted to. Also, if you’re clumsy — wear something flame retardant, there are open candles everywhere.

I had a couple of really good cocktails there on Friday evening and even found a table even though the place was busy and we hadn’t a booking. Go for the dirty wizard it’s absolutely divine and the Bloody Mary really kicks ass. This place once upon a time was a well kept secret but much less so now as there was a couple in front of us and another behind going in! The doorway is the same and there was a doorman this time where before we had to tap on the door to get in! I kind of miss having to do that. 70’s style carpets and narrow stairways lead us up to the top floor where the rooftop bar is also the smoking area. The roof was open and thankfully there was no rain. Everyone was so relaxed there on the red velvet chairs and there was a queue for the bar. We had two drinks and went onto somewhere else but VCC is definitely one of my favourite cocktail bars but the prices are not cheap. The bill came to around € 45 for 4 drinks.

This place is fabulous and everything that a speakeasy bar should be. Fun and interesting cocktails in a dark but warm atmosphere including roaring fires. If you’re looking for an escape from the typical pub, look no further. We were able to ring the bell and get in without a reservation but probably because it was a Monday night. We did not get any food but it all looked good. If we are back in Dublin we will be back here.

I gotta update this to a four! I really enjoyed my Thursday night visit to VCC. What I liked even more was that they gave water with the cocktails. This is a great idea! I tried the Tiki Peeky — sweet and far too easy to drink lol!

4 stars for food and drinks, 0 star for service = average 2 stars. On vacation in Dublin, it was easy enough to make a reservation for VCC, but that’s where the attentive service stopped, on the phone. I would not recommend coming here for dinner, they will seat you at a tiny cocktail table that can not even fit a bread plate, and then forget about you for 45 minutes. Come for the drink and to the peruse their cool menu. It was organized chronologically by what spirits were served in what era. Here’s what we tried and loved: *Complimentary Prosecco right when you sit down Go fig-ure Rosy & Jim Ginger beef Sautéed shrimp and gnocci

FINALLY I got to visit the VCC. Feels like ages it’s been on my to do list. I was not disappointed either. Ring a doorbell to be allowed in, up a staircase into a room dimly lit, mostly by candles, and a beautiful fire place. The décor was somewhat prohibition style with a rather Grandmother’s-house-ish kinda feel(that could have been the porcelain dogs…) We were handed a cocktail menu that resembled a Ladybird Children’s book with the largest selection of cocktails I’ve ever seen split out by the era to which they relate. We flicked back & forth through the books for a while until a really helpful waitress came to see if we were ready to order. We told her we were lost, which she seemed completely unsurprised by & was extremely knowledgable & helpful in finding our preferred tastes, asking first what our spirit of choice would be & second if we preferred sweet or citrus. She pointed us to two cocktails on the menu & we ordered away. The cocktails were delicious! So we ordered more, but by this time(around 5pm) the place had started to get busy with food customers so the service was a little slow(probably wouldn’t have hurt to have a second bar man on by that time on a Saturday). I’m giving the place 3 stars. There are no prices on the menu, and while we expected it to be a bit pricy I think € 50 for 4 drinks was extreme — especially considering our drinks didn’t have excessive amounts of alcohol(I mean my second drink was a margarita so just a shot of tequila in there & maybe some orange liquor if they were being fancy). Overall it was a great experience, but I don’t know if it would be a regular haunt(certainly at that price anyway). Would I go back? Yeah probably, for a drink, maybe 2 drinks on a special occasion.

First day in Dublin and we were lucky enough to have a spare 30 minutes to visit here. It’s hard to find, and we didn’t have internet access to read the tips/reviews on Unilocal to work out that there’s a doorway marked with VCC and a doorbell to press. Thankfully we spotted it all the same, and headed in after being warmly greeted at the door. This place is amazing! I don’t even want to try to describe it because I’m not going to do it justice. We ordered a couple of drinks from the super-impressive cocktail list — a sleeper for me with dark rum and citrus flavours from the pre-1880s list. The drinks are pretty expensive at € 11.95 but they are well worth it. Firstly, you get a complimentary glass of fizz while you wait for your drink to be made up — amazing! Then, after a bit of a wait you’ll be presented with a glass of heaven, beautifully garnished and carefully constructed. I loved mine — sweet, with a nice kick and lovely flavours. I’d definitely get it again! We had to rush off as we had a dinner booking nearby, but we’ve vowed to return again for more lovely cocktails as this bar was just so magical.
