This place is amazing. I had the beef and Guinness pie with mash and mushy peas. Everything was delicious and the woman who runs the shop is so friendly and charming. Don’t be scared that it’s in the touristy part of town. It’s excellent.

These pies are amazing, I live abroad now but every time I visit home, I always plan a visit to enjoy some great food here. if you like homemade savory pies, well this definitely hit the spot! They had about 5 or 6 different flavours to choose from, I usually stick to the same which is beef and guinness, but at xmas just gone by, I decided to try the chicken and it was yum yum. You can also add mash or mushy peas with some gravy on the side, adds to the great taste all round. Staff are super friendly and the price is easy on the wallet also.

This was THE best meal I had in Ireland. The shop is very small, but so worth any wait you might experience. The atmosphere was superb. I highly recommend this for lunch or a light dinner. Coffee and beer served as well… but, only German beer… it was excellent.

Love this place, pumpkin/​feta pie with mash and vegetarian gravy, one of the best veg meals in Dublin for sure.

This place is amazing. Really small but their pies are fantastic. Plenty of choices for pie and you can add a side of mashed potatoes or mushy peas. Wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often! Cash only.

Nom nom nom! This place is the best! Not only do you get great food for the price but it is so freeking delicious regardless of the price. The best savory pie I’ve ever had. I had the pie of the day which was beef and chorizo and my wife had the veggie pie. We were both in love. We both got the soda combo which was a pie, a side, gravy and a drink for € 8.50.
We hate going to places that don’t take credit card and honestly we started to leave but the place smelled so delicious we decided to raid our small € cash and boy I’m glad we did.

I was in the mood for some hearty, comfort food and I figured a good aul fashioned PIE would hit the spot. Well this definitely hit the spot! They had about 5 or 6 different flavours to choose from when I was in. I originally went for a chilli and chorizo pie purely because it seemed like something different. The person ahead of me had just bought the last one, but not to worry, I went with my second pick of Beef and Guinness pie and boy, am I glad I did. The crust was buttery, crumbly but not too dry. The Guinness sauce had a lovely richness to it and the beef simply melted in my mouth. I am going to nitpick slightly though and say I would have liked maybe a little more beef in the pie. I have a pretty big appetite, so I couldn’t imagine it keep me full for long. For only € 6 though it was worth it for the flavour alone.
All in all, it served me well as a tasty little supper (I accompanied it with Burdocks chips!). If you’re looking for tasty, homemade comfort food, I’d imagine The Pieman Café is the place to go. You’ll get a yummy little pie, mashed potato or mushy peas, all covered in gravy and with a drink to boot for around a tenner. You really can’t go wrong here!

Great little place. Super friendly and good, cheap, quick food. The mash could use a little more flavor. But that’s easily remedied with the salt shaker. Set your expectations to pleasant. That’s what this place is.

If there was a picture in the dictionary beside the phrase ‘Comfort Food’ it would be of a pie and mash, I’m sure of it!
The Pieman Café is located in Temple Bar, right across from Burdock’s. It’s a small café, so wouldn’t hold a lot of people but I’ve never seen it overly packed! It opens until 10pm most nights too… perfect if you’re looking for some good, casual dining without having to worry about reservations or time constraints.
I had the Beef and Guinness pie with mash and gravy and it was really nice. We were in there quite late in the evening so the pastry was slightly overdone but it still tasted really good. They also have a nice little selection of craft beers, perfect with a pie!
And the price? Pie, side and beer for € 10.50, seriously good value. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good pie?

The Pieman is a great little place in the heart of Temple Bar, without the extortionate prices.
For € 8.50 you get a pie of your choice (I had the Venison), a side, gravy and a soft drink.

The pies are really lovely and the mash (I didn’t have the peas) was scooped out perfectly-​both drizzled with some lovely hot gravy. Yes, the ideal meal for a chilly March afternoon.

Fantastic place for a hearty, quick and delicious bite. 10 Euro for a great quality pie, a side and a craft beer is ridiculous.
We had the Beef and Guinness, as well as the Chicken and Stuffing pie — both with gravy, both with mushy peas. Excellent fillings, great crust and tasty gravy. It was perfect for a late afternoon snack.
I should note that the owner is a great guy. Very welcoming, good sense of humor, likes to engage you without overwhelming you. It was cold and rainy and he offered us a free cup of tea or coffee before heading out, which we politely declined. If I lived in Dublin, I’d be visiting often.
I highly recommend skipping 95% of the junk in Temple Bar and head right over here for a great meal.

Great place for a quick, filling eat in central Dublin. Easily accessible by foot. Simple homemade comfort food.
I visited Dublin and ate at several high quality restaurants. Yet, one of my favorite meals was this simple pie from the Pieman café. They do one thing and do it well. Side of mushed peas and fries compliment the savory pies, also.
Also, the staff is friendly and helpful. They’re happy to accommodate any specific requests (i.e. gravy on the side). Another example of their friendliness– as a hole-​in-​the-​wall, they don’t have receipts. However, they were willing to write one up for me (so I could expense meal later).
For seating, there are a few tables inside. Usually this places is a quick bite or takeout.

If you’re in need of a quick and cheap meal in town this is a great shout! The meal deal sweetens the deal, for € 10 you get a side and a craft beer ;-)
The pies are pretty damn good, lonely and moist on the inside with a crispy pastry coating. I got the Sunday dinner pie, which had chicken, veg, and stuffing. The last time I was here it was a very quiet weekday evening and they didn’t have a large selections of sides. Normally, there is a choice between mash potato, peas, wedges, and roast veg. The woman serving us was very friendly and more than willing to provide pie recommendations. Oh, and they change around the craft beer selection from time ti time.

€ 6 for a pie and 5 for the special pie of the day. I got the chicken and mushroom one and it was gooood. I love the crust especially and the gravy doesn’t taste too fattening. The only slight downside is the portion size. But then again what can you expect from Europe

Loved the beef and Guinness pie + roasties all soaking up the delicious gravy. Paired with 8 Degrees Howling Gale, perfect cheap meal out in Temple Bar!
Mikey was not as impressed with the chorizo and chilli beef pie as it was quite dry, so choose your pie wisely!
Oh and they serve it on hot plates now too (probably after Cristin’s review!), so your food stays warm for the entire meal :-)

Its cute and its simple ! the lady who worked there both served you and worked as the waitress and made the pies herself also and she was extremely welcoming and was happy to serve you! food is amazing and filling and very very cheap ! i will definitely be here again… ideal for kids/​eating on your own/​small groups… nicer for a big lunch rather than a dinner spot ! … but wouldn’t be completely against the idea for dinner either. they serve beer here to !

Three times over the course of three days. Is that wrong? Or so wrong that it’s right?

When eaten with some lovely mash potato and mushy peas, they tend to fill you with a sense of well being and goodness, and a nice full-​but-​not-​too-​stuffedness.
They also sell 8 Degrees beer to continue with the yumtasticness.
*Disclaimer: The 3 in 3 days was over a festival weekend — so that’s ok, right?!! ;-)

We got the pork/​apple/​dijon pie with mash and gravy on the side. Yum! If you order something that’s not under the heat lamp you’ll have to wait 15 minutes or so. The person behind the counter was really helpful though and gave us updates ‘5 more minutes! almost done!’ so it wasn’t too bad.
They have a bunch of other options which I definitely want to come back and try. Beef and Guinness? Yes please!
