Great tapas, great wine, cosy atmosphere and décor and the staff are really nice. Definitely worth paying a visit to, one of the better tapas restaurants in the city.

This place is like a genuine Spanish tapas bar that you would find on a side street in any Spanish city, the food is fantastic, staff very friendly, excellent well priced wine and a simple but great night out. Go here !!

Wonderful dinner after a opera concert at National Concert Hall. We arrived at 10.30 pm at the Viva. The food tastes like real Spanish food. It is tasty and nice. Portions are bigger than other Spanish restaurants in town, and the aioli sauce tastes like real aioli! which is a plus! We had two tortillas, which were tasty and well-made, and it followed paella de marisco, made as it should be done traditionally. We continued with patatas bravas, traditional fried cod, fried anchovies and clams. All tasty, fresh and well made. The tortillas and the paella were particularly fine. The portions were bigger than usual and filling, so we ended up with a catalan cream to share. They really know how to make espresso! Tasteful and hot, short and not acid. A real surprise for an Italian guy! The price is honest! No surcharges nor surprises. The staff was very welcoming and kind, particularly Ramiro. The kitchen is opened until 11.30 pm, which makes it perfect for after-theatre dinner, or after pub snack. Finally, the dinner perfectly matched our after-theatre expectations, and we look forward to come back for more. Highly recommended!

Un super petit resto. A découvrir absolument de vrais tapas, les plats sont cuisinés par la maman qui est espagnole(Almeria), le serveur m’a conseillé sur les vins, et me les a fait goûter pour m’aider à choisir, un accueil très chaleureux

So correction on the open times. They close at 11:30pm. I’m still sitting here sipping my sangria and getting my last order of churros(We’ve already had two orders). I must say first off, the food tastes amazing. Very mild in tastes, nothing overly powerful. My favorite still is the bread with tomato purée. Very simple and tasty. The churros are a must get!!! Sangria is very wine heavy, so if you’re looking for something to sip it’s perfect. I will recommend this place to all Dublin visitors. Plus the service was great even though they were just about to close.

Lovely staff and delicious food. Viva is not overpriced like most tapas bars you’ll find near city center, plus they have great happy hour specials! Loved every tapa I’ve ever tried here, not to mention the best churros we’ve ever tasted!

Great tapas find in south Dublin!!! I cannot fault the food or service. The staff are extremely attentive and welcoming. We went on a work outing in a group of ten and could pre order the food which made it very easy. We sat inside beside the bar, the table was perfect and cosy. I had a walk outside and there is terrace seating which is really pretty. The best bit… the food was yummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Top dishes were the garlic mushrooms and prawns. They only serve wine and cocktails, no beer. Which isn’t an issue for me as I think wine goes great with tapas. We ordered some Spanish wine, it went really well with the food. Reasonably priced, I will definitely be back :).

Great little find, pretty unassuming from outside but inside is a whole different story! Great food and wine. Visited here for a work night out and got the chance to sample a vast array of dishes. My top 3 picks were the garlic prawns, the meatballs and the Pan Catalán. The staff were so friendly and attentive to our needs, they even boxed up the leftovers for us to take away. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and the outside patio area is really pretty. Look forward to making a return visit.

Both the food and service were fantastic. I would say it is both perfect for groups large or small… We were a group of 10 so we were able to sample a sizeable amount of tapas. We had pre ordered so shortly after we arrived the food just kept coming, there wasnt a single hungry /dissatisfied belly at our table :) Loved the calamari, prawns in garlic and chilli and the omelette so yummy Fantastic evening, will definitely check in again soon :)

Great place to eat tapas. Compared with other Spanish like tapas bars, this one is closer to the Spanish tradition, with great homemade dishes. Good calamares, good croquetas and good cheese with jamon platters. I loved to finally find a potato tortilla like my mother´s tortilla. Nice Patio in the backyard for the sunny days. Maybe this restaurant is a bit different of the local interpretation of Spanish tapas, but if I were you I would give it a try.

Great deal for 1 tapa and 1 glass of wine — 8.85, and 2 tapas for 12.00! We had the patatas bravas, the chorizo, and the white wine gambas! Did I mention the bottle of wine? Everything was so good, and the waiter was so charismatic! Great energy for a Tuesday night! This would be a great place for a date, as the music is soft, the food is delish, and it’s perfect portions for sharing! I will definitely be back!

I’ve eaten in Viva three times and I’m sorry to report that on each subsequent visit it has fallen sharply in my estimation. I love tapas, the more authentic the better in my opinion and on my first visit, eating al fresco in the cutesy garden terrace out the back I was mightily impressed with the food we had — an awesome meat and cheese platter, deliciously tender calamari and a chicken dish cooked in sherry, which we washed down with a great white wine and finished off with scrummy little churros and excellent coffees. I was only too eager to return, but perhaps there is something to the saying that eating outside makes everything taste better because on our next two visits– eating inside– the food was — sorry to say — disappointing! The restaurant is a cosy little space but the tables for two feel cramped and it’s a good thing that they stagger the tapas dishes arriving to the table because they are tiny and not really adequate in space to hold the tapas, side plates and drinks all at the same time. The goat’s cheese salad and aubergine dish that we had on our second visit were not up to the standard of our first visit, but lured back by the memory of our first meal, we decided recently to try again. Unfortunately, it wasn’t great –the patatas bravas tasted like they’d been reheated, the wine was poor and our Crème Caramel dessert had a strange consistency. The croquettes, meatballs and calamari were all adequate but not amongst the best I’ve had by a long shot. The coffee was still great though and on the plus side, it does offer great value for money and all the dishes are home-made, it’s just a pity that the food failed to hit the mark on two of our three visits.

Have been here quite a few times now. Tapas as good as it gets. The chef is a spanish lady so it’s all very authentic. The portions are big(I usually share four tapas between two people and then we are properly stuffed) at around 5⁄6 euro. The owner/waiters are very welcoming and cheerful, never in a rush to get you out. They really care for their food/clientele. They have a small terrace in the back too, so hopefully there will be many sunny days to come to have another lovely dinner out there.

This is a wonderful tapas restaurant. I’ve been there many times for lunch. The food is tasty and has a homemade tapas taste to it. I’ve done a few rounds of their tapas menu at this stage and now also go for the pork loin special to mix things up. They serve a lovely vanilla ice cream with almonds and also coffee to finish up. The restaurant is normally quiet during mid day lunch hours, which I like. The place is clean and modern looking, usually with Spanish music on in the background. On warmer days, it’s nice to eat in the little open air area at the back. One of the best features of this restaurant are the staff; always friendly, professional and helpful.

Looking for Tapas in an original atmosphere? Go to Viva! For very good prices you get delicious home made Spanish tapas alla Mama! The owner and his mum are working the kitchen in Viva and do all tapas with original ingredients from Spain. Obviously they have incredibly wines there too, I had the Torres San Valentin, a granacha tinta grape which was absolutely smooth and fruity. What you get for the prices is amazing, not comparable with other Tapas bars in Dublin. Interior design very simple and cosy — but that makes it! Music is very relaxing and good for a chat. If you want it a bit more exciting music wise, go on Thursday as they have live music :) The staff is very friendly!!! Only for that reason I am going back there.

I loved this location when it was El Toro Bravo but it has since changed hands and it is certainly in good hands… The owner is very proud of this new spot and is warm and welcoming to his patrons. The tapas are reasonably priced and so tasty! We enjoyed the seafood paella(very fresh tasting) and the grilled sardines were fabulous(just watch out for those tiny splinters!) We also devoured the chorizo in white wine and the croquettes. The price was very reasonable and the service is very good! There’s also a lovely outdoor space which is so inviting on a bright afternoon. We plan to return and sip the afternoon away with a carafe of sangria!
