The food was(of course) super fresh and exceptionally tasty! Recommend the specials, and the mushroom & onion side. Service was A+ as well.

This was my first time at Crabby Jo’s and I feel good. I wish I could give 5 stars but, the service wasn’t so perfect so I think it deserve a full 4 stars. It depends on the weather, of course, but if you can, I recommend to get a table outside as it is nicer, especially in summer time when you have long bright days and it is pity to seat inside. What I remember is: Inside it was cool and a bit too dark. Then it is noisy as people talking, talking and talking so the background noise gets louder and I don’t like. Outside instead is much better outside as you can relax. To get a place outside just get your table on your own or wait till a table is empty. Don’t wait in the queue at the entrance as this is the place for the tables inside. Now, talking about the food, we ordered fried squid, half lobster with crab meat stuffing(16.95 Euro) for main and I shared half bottle of Crucero Sauvignon Blanc(13.95 Euro) with my partner. If you wanna get the total seafood experience, you have to drink white wine ;-). Whats more to say about my starter: the fried squid was amazing, something so delicious. If you are in doubt, don’t be, you will like it. It was fresh, tender, well cooked and very tasty. The half lobster was served with chips and liquid garlic butter, in a bed of few salad leaves. With the lobster you get also a small bowl of water with lemon(to clean your hands) and the tools to eat the lobster properly. White wine was refreshing and nice touch to the oyster and lobster experience. The following things might help to improve customer experience: You should get at least two napkins each due to the stuff you are eating. Put slice of lemon into the tap water. It improves the flavour and lowers the taste of chlorine. Once we finished we might have wanted to pay or order a coffee. Unfortunately, once we finished nobody came to out table so we had to move inside and ask to pay. We could have ordered some dessert or a coffee if asked at our table, as I saw nice dessert too. We decide to leave. Apart from this, I enjoyed a lot from this place and I will definitely come back in the future. Of course I will recommend this place.

A friend and I came here while spending the day in Howth. After having walked around so much, we were actually starving. The service was fast enough, and the waiters were friendly enough to get us some breads to snack on while waiting for the food. The food was good, your standard Irish seafood place. I had the baked salmon, and my friend had the fish and chips. Both dishes had a ton of oil in them, to the point where we had to wipe them with a napkin. It would be good if they leave them on a paper/napkin before serving to get all that oil out? The décor was nice, and the service was friendly. They sell their own merchandise which reminded me of the US chain, Bubba Gump.

I have been here several times, it’s one of my favourite restaurants in Howth. A good selection of dishes, friendly staff. Last saturday we managed to snap up the last table outside in the sun. Service was a bit scatty(eg got to ask for water twice, for cutlery, for napkins etc) Food was just okay. First time I tried the seafood chowder there, and was slightly disappointed… it wasn’t very creamy and tasted very carrotty(if that’s a word). Our calamari was very greasy. Will still be coming back though… just caught them on a bad day I think.

LITERALLY the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. Came to Crabby Jo’s on a tour stop and just got food to go(the negative reviews all seem to be eating inside). Very fast service and, like I said, best fish and chips of my life. Definitely recommended.

It’s a nice place, and the staff is friendly. I just wasn’t very impressed with the food. Got the classic fish and chips for € 15, and the portion wasn’t all that large. That said, it did fill me right up, though not in a good way. Felt a bit off, maybe because it was a bit greasy. But perhaps that’s just the nature of fish and chips. They asked if I wanted tea or coffee and I opted for tea. They ended up bringing out a whole little pot that would have easily provided full mugs for two people. It was their«one person» size for € 2.50.

My husband and I stopped in on our day tour. We tried the seafood chowder, mussels and crab claws. The seafood chowder was amazing! It had so much seafood in it and was very flavorful. All we added was a pinch of salt and some black pepper. The bread they serve you on the side was perfect to dip in the chowder(if you like to dip your bread in your soup!). Their chips were nice and crispy. Also, I tried their Bellini. Overall, the food was good. Our dishes all came out around the same time so the waitress that brought us our food was nice and offered to move us to another table that was open so that we had enough room.

My partner and I popped in during the food festival last weekend. My mate recommended the place a while ago. I ordered the special of the day. A large plate of prawn’s. 18 €. A total of ten small prawns arrived on an extra small chopping board. It was an epically sad disappointment. I had to send it back and order the fish pie. Which was very nice, but forgettable. Howth. I thought this was the place for seafood. But, I get the feel it’s just a place to rip off people ’ for the day that’s in it ‘.

Fantastic sea food and some of the Friendliest service in Dublin. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and friendly. Located on the pier can mean some amazing outdoor eating in the summer. We tried the special Crabby Mojito and a Guinness(duh!). The Guinness was fresh as it was brewed 20 minutes away, yesterday. My mojito was also delicious; had a nice crisp finish(Prosecco) and the mint/basil muddle was fresh and new. Our dinner was also great. My baked salmon was just devine(and had the most crisp asparagus I’ve ever had). My husbands fish and chips were crisp, moist, and seasoned perfectly.

Pros-wifi and good food Cons– everything else… Larry N left a review that was extremely accurate to what we experienced during dinner at Crabby Jo’s. We visited the restaurant when walking by and saw that they served fish n chips. Something i had been craving for a while. We walked in and right off the bat were off to a bad start. The waitress actually had to ask the manager on shift if she could seat us for dinner at 1830. What I thought to be a normal time for dinner. And there was only two other tables seated at this time. Waitress was extremely nice and sat us after the manager gave the ok. We waited the usual 5 minutes or so for her to take our drink order which we got a couple of minutes later. We then ask for a few more minutes to decide what to order as we chose to skip the starter menu. After a few minutes our waitress returned and we asked about the Warm Seafood Platter. We asked how much food it would be as my and my date were extremely hungry after walking around for hours. The waitress explained that it was plenty for two people. We ordered it with 2 sides of chips. We sound huge but really aren’t. Anyways after about 20 minutes the food finally arrives at our table. The problem as I’m sure you can guess was that the food was not what we had ordered. What came was the Warm Seafood Salad for each of us. We of course did not know at first, but my date asked to be reminded what we had ordered when we learned a mistake had taken place with our order. The plates were taken from the table and a new order was placed. But no one came to the table to apologize for the confusion whatsoever. this is rude where I come from. Me and my date sit at the table in short conversation surrounding the situation and ultimately wait another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. I realize that I have no fork as it was taken with the salad and kindly put my hand up to get our waitresses attention. I ask for a fork and she of course says she will bring one right out. After watching her run off to the kitchen to grab what I thought was a fork for me, she returns with another tables check. No fork. I ask my date to reach over and just grab one off the other table. Hind sight I should have asked my date and not our waitress? Either way our waitress would not return to our table unless we either physically reached out to her or was able to make that eye contact that is sometimes required. At this point we have been at the restaurant for about an hour and are now eating. Food is really good. The seafood is very fresh indeed and it was served on a giant plate. It was exactly how we would like our seafood to be. Delicious and I give the chef 4 out of 5 stars for his work. I dock a star because the fries were shit. We finish eating and have not seen our waitress the entire meal. Some would consider this a good thing. I don’t. Mostly because I see her running around not taking care of tables other than to seat them. For a little while I thought she may be just a hostess, but no she is indeed a waitress. The other waiters and waitresses are all tending their tables just fine so maybe you will get lucky. I wish I looked at the girls name so I could give it to you, but I did not. After we are done we waited 20 more minYes for the plates to be taken away by a different waiter. Now it’s time for dessert. No waitress. We don’t even see her at this point and try to get the other waiters attention who is busy helping his tables. Finally we see our girl and wave her down. We ask for a check. She happily says ok and that she will bring it right over. This does not happen. We got lost in our phones for a bit because there is free wifi which is good. After 20 minutes we realize that the check did not come and I get the mangers attention. I explained everything that happened from start to finish and she blamed the staffs behavior on the lunch rush they were«bouncing back from». It’s literally about 2025 so lunch has been over for a long ass time. She looks as if she wants to cry a little and tells us that she will get our ticket right away. She comped us a water and a diet coke. Thank you so much. We needed up paying over 50 € for this shit.

This place deserves a lot more recognition than it gets! Okay, the décor is kind of weird… but surely a tasty meal can surpass that?! If you like chowder, they do ONEOFTHEBESTCHOWDERS in Howth. Thats a heavy statement but its extremely good, loads of meat and not overly creamy! The Dublin bay prawns are also a great starter if you arent into soup! I’m a huge fan of the baked salmon, its super healthy and comes with perfectly cooked baby spuds and veg. Sounds boring but it’s cooked so well that I enjoy it every time! The scampi are also great if your going for something a bit heavier, and come with home made chips which are fluffy and what I can only describe as chip perfection! The desserts are nothing special though… just your average brownie and banoffi. Dont get me wrong, they are good, but nothing to rant about. The staff are very friendly but I feel they have not been trained very well. Most of them are really young and can sometimes make mistakes with your orders. I’ve been here about 8 times and it’s happened twice. Other than that, Its a really great place in harbour and I recommend popping in! They do great lunches too!

The only reason they got an extra star is due to the Wright’s Seafood Chowder, which was really excellent… tons of cod and haddock… Other than that, our waitress had a couple in our group’s order wrong, one 2x’s even. The food came out at all different times, so 2 in our group had food and were finished before 2 others even got their dinners. We sat for an extremely long time with dirty plates on our table, we ended up cleaning up all the plates and stacking them at the corner of our table. And, after our starters, we never saw our waitress at our table again, she hung out chatting with a hostess at the entrance. We had to start to stand up to leave after waiting 15+ minutes to get our bill. The music was good! Service was extremely bad! The seafood chowder was really good.

Crabby Joe’s, Howth, Co. Dublin I headed to a fish restaurant known as Crabby Jo’s. I was most impressed with the waitress service. Top notch. However I didn’t care for too much to be waiting for 20mins for a table inside. So my Folks and myself, made do with Outdoor seating. Now considering we were at a Fish restaurant, it was v cold. No heating was provided. Flies, I’ve never seen the likes of it. Everywhere u turned. You had to keep an eye on your food to make sure they wouldn’t fall into the food. We were situated underneath flower hanging baskets. They should have been covered. Getting to the actual food in question, me being a vegetarian, I was impressed with what they had to offer. Now I’m sure they had other items of interest for vegetarians. I just didn’t get a chance properly to look. So I chose Hummus for Starters and Linguinei Pasta. The Hummus in question was extraordinary beautiful. Totally enjoyed every moment of it. However as it was my first time eating hummus(I’m a newbie Veggie for almost 2 years now), My mom told me the norm with hummus. The Hummus came with Raw Veg(carrots, Celery) and Peppers. I didn’t mind Peppers. Oh and it also came with bread of some form, possibly Naan. I enjoyed the bread and Peppers. But the Raw veg, I didn’t care for them. Expectedly, they were hard. I was told to use Hummus as a dip. I just gollaped it down like a soup or something. It was lovely. Spreadable over the bread. mmmmm. Then shortly afterwards, we didn’t really have to wait too long, considering they were mad busy(hence why we couldn’t get a seat inside), our Main dishes arrived. I got the Linguine Pasta. Once again, amazed by the wonderful Pasta dish. I can’t really fault the dish. Twas beautifully presented. Price in total for 3 was around the € 60 mark. That’s about € 20 per person. So not too bad a price. Considering we were treated like royalty, well as far as the waitress manners were concerned. So overall Food Delicious, Outdoor seating CRAP.

Delicious! Food was so good i forgot to take some pictures! Three of us rocked in here yesterday evening, they were fully booked but gave us a space at the bar. The staff were so accommodating, super friendly and great banter. They have an unbelievable wine list which is very inexpensive, and a great food menu. The fish is super fresh. We order 3 deserts and the manager came out with the 4th one for us to try. They were all delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough, great staff, great food and a great atmosphere! Well needed in Howth

Fantastic !!! Quite possibly the best scampi I’ve ever had — so fresh and really good big portion. The tartar sauce was so delicious and fresh I took some home. I didn’t eat in the restaurant –just got a take away but can’t wait to come back for a full meal
