One of the nicer restaurants in Howth and that’s high praise! I had a long leisurely lunch with some stunning seafood, my Rockafella Oyster starter being a highlight. Lovely staff too I have to say, attentive and friendly. All followed by a lovely walk along the pier. Not too shabby at all!

12÷28÷15 Came to Dublin for holidays and wanted to come to my favorite seafood restaurant in Howth. I keep hearing the menu is changed, so lots of favorite items I’ve experienced in past are gone. I.e. Tempura oysters. The mussels were no longer bathing in butter sauce and were a little cool when served. I aent back to have more cream butter sauce warmed up and poured over again and finally there were some sort of sauce at bottom to sop with bread. Oh, then I heard the head chef wasn’t in. Not sure what to expect next time. The raw oysters with the red vinegar and red onions was yummy, however, I should have tried the«rockefellers! I hear lightly heat and melt the tipping of cheeses and herbs leaving the oyster plump. Wish the server had described sooner. Next time. The garlic buttered crab claws were delicious! My friend had the baked grilled chicken. Very moist All the way through the half of a chicken. Still my fav. Place to come, but will ask to hear how items are prepared next time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Came again New Year’s Eve 12÷31÷15! Tonight was perfect. Started with a lovely small bottle of sparkling. And having good craic with staff! Ordered the oyster«Rockefeller». Don’t know why they call it that as these were totally different experience ice ever had with broiled oysters. Topped with Bernaise/onions and Parmesan. Onion was little over powering but loved the delicate warm rawness of the plump oysters. The Shellfish Pot chef special was en pointe with a pot over flowing with clams/mussels/shrimp and crab claws. A great dish to experience all the shellfish! very tenderly cooked in a light tomato oniony garlic sauce. It was great sitting close to a regular customer keeping me company. Happy New Years! Goodbye 2015! Looking forward to seeing what’s on the menu for 2016!

Good food and good service. We try the pork and the seafood linguine. Both were excellent . The atmosphere was very cosy. You don’t have a lot of fish /seafood options on the menu. I have expecting more choices

Three stars; 1 — nice to sit outside 2 — the service was very pleasant indeed 3 — good coffee. Food left a lot to be desired considering the quality of some of the other restaurants along the same walkway. € 8 for a bowl of chowder that definitely needed seasoning, was rather watery and came with a tiny sliver of bread. I understand it was in the starter section of the menu but I think at lunchtime a soup is considered a meal in itself and I felt this was quite stingy. My father ordered the fish and chips and again the portions were small — less of a problem here as the fried carbs are more filling but certainly the plate looked a bit bare for what you were paying. Wouldn’t return for food but it’s lovely to sit outside on a sunny afternoon with a coffee(or, I’d imagine, a glass of wine)

Sometimes in life you come across with some let downs. My trip to Deep was one of them. Surprised the husband to a weekend trip to Dublin and being a seafood fan myself, we decided to trek over to Howth from Dublin onboard the painstakingly slow DART(the train). Once there, we were hit with torrential rain. I was thrilled to find Deep which was recommended by an online blogger which now I come to think of it might have been a marketing promo. I of course skipped over other worthy contenders to have a lovely seafood extravaganza here. When we came in, we were asked to sit wherever we wanted. We found a cosy spot and settled in only to be told 10 minutes later that it was reserved, so we would have to eat up in a hour before the party showed up. Hello!!! Your restaurant is pretty empty? We moved to spot they had for us. I was just eager to start tucking in. They showed us the specials– Tuna steak sounded lovely especially if we are getting it this close from the ocean right? I got that and the seafood chowder. The hubby got the cod. The food Seafood chowder was ok– nothing to shout about. Flakes of fish in a watery broth. The tuna– A disaster. It was so overcooked that I might as well have had the chicken and it would have tasted not so fishy! It had no seasoning, was tough and extremely fishy which makes me believe that the«special» is old stock. But at € 26, this really hurt me! The cod– Again, overcooked and unseasoned. Considering that we trekked all the way here on a cold rainy day for his birthday and spent € 25 on average for the main course, I was extremely disappointed. But again. You win some. You lose some!

I enjoyed my late lunch at Deep the other day. We wanted to get some sea air at Howth. The original plan was to visit Aqua for lunch but they close at 3.30−5.00. We passed Deep on the way down and liked the look of it so we opted for it as a second choice. We were greeted and seated quickly. There room looks bigger than it really is as the end wall has been covered in a mirror. Its a great idea as it makes the room feel airy and bright. They were very busy with both locals and tourists. The service was very good too– the two main waiters were backed up by a lady who came out at times. They all covered the room well. We decided to share a seafood platter which was tasty. There were battered cod, battered prawns, mussels, smoked salmon on brown bread, crab cakes and calamari. It was all very tasty and the batter was very light. My only comment would be that I think there could have been a little less battered seafood– maybe something grilled or smoked. However its a minor point as we really enjoyed the food. We shared a blueberry tart which was very tasty, and finished with good americanos. I would certainly visit Deep again as I liked the service, the food and the ambiance. The bill was € 45 plus tip which I thought was reasonable value for what we enjoyed.

The place is really cute and relaxing. The food was great however we were let down by the desserts. To start we had dublin prawns and mussels both were Delicious. Full of flavor and tasted like MORE!!! The main we had Fish pie, sea trout, fish and chips and rock fish all really yummy!!! However the size of the pie was a lot bigger than the sea trout portion. Then it came to dessert… The sticky toffee pudding was dry and the toffee was burnt. My friend had the rhubarb tart which was too sweet plus it had a piece of plastic in it. After complaining to the waitress without hesitation she apologized and told us we would not have to pay for the desserts. After which she came back and told me they would not charge us for any of the desserts or the coffee. The service was excellent however I would suggest having 1 more person working as I did need assistance a couple of times and it took awhile to find someone who could help. I will be back here but next time I will pop over to mauds for dessert and a walk on the pier.

5* indeed, it’s a cozy place and the staff is really friendly. We ordered the early bird’s menu 2(€ 22) and got to pick two plates each. Everything was very tasty, from the calamari to the grilled fish. I highly recommend the seafood chowder — one of the best I’ve ever tasted, and the sea trout, delicious! There are other good restaurants in Howth but this one sure is a favourite.

Great staff. Amazing food. Best chicken wings in Ireland. Leek and potato soup was off the charts. All the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. We had the hake and salmon. The curry shrimp was a big hit. The surprise, the pasta of the day(carbonara) was excellent. Didn’t expect that. No surprise, don’t order a hamburger in a fish restaurant. It was a hockey puck. Can’t wait to go back.

I went to Howth from Dublin looking for a good place to eat fresh sea food and definitely this is not the restaurant. I ordered a platter for 2 of sea food which included calamari, prawns, mussles, hake etc and absolutely everything was roll in batter and greasy. Nothing different to the classic fish and chips you can find in any pub around the city. I expected much more from an expensive restaurant in a fishing town to be honest. The service wasnt great either. The waiter was slow and not welcoming at all. I won´t be back

Great seafood! I had calamari as a starter and prawn curry as the main dish. Both were very tasty and the portions were impressive as well. The staff was very friendly with us even though we sat there for an extra hour drinking tea after the food :)

Oh I loved my meal here! I ordered the Asian style trout(sweet n sour and a little bit of spice, yum) and it was very fresh. Loved the roasted potatoes drenched in the sauce. Decent portion sizes(I was stuffed, and my friend’s fish pie was nearly too big for two). I definitely recommend this place for some lovely seafood choices! The one downer was my friend who ordered the mussels wasn’t too impressed.

I tried today the early bird menu, which gives you the chance to try their food at a reasonable price: 19,95 Euro for a starter and a main to choose within their list of set menu(or so they called early menu). This particular list is shown in the end of the regular menu(with regular price). Of course, you won’t get a lobster with that menu. There is also another combination you can get with 19.95 E. A main and a dessert. so for the ones who are more into sweet stuff they can opt for this second option. About the food: Fresh fish, well presented and tasty. I liked their dish sets which change depending on what you order. Like rectangular plate, circular plate, a pot for mussels, or square dish. This helps with the presentation and then with the taste. But of course the food is still good even if served into a plastic bowl :-) Food was tasty. I got a chowder soup for starter and a sea trout dish for main. In my opinion the chowder soup was too liquid but still good. I would have prefer to be more thick or creamy as they usually serve in some pubs nearby. The fish into the soup was incredibly fresh and light. The sea trout, it was perfectly cooked and the potatoes where really crunchy outside and soft inside, so again, good. The only criticism, I have to say that it was slightly over salty on the skin, again it wasn’t my concern but I would expect to be less salty as maybe some customer might have blood pressure issue. About this place: Furniture are stylish and at the same time cosy. Nice taste of frames and some of them remembering the Dolce Vita. Toilets were cleaned when I checked. Despite the small space it was optimized and I liked the stylish porcelain hand wash basin and a mixer tap instead of the usually crap ones with two taps(cold and hot water) and other ugly similar stuff. I like the personal touch of the hand soap dispenser instead of the same white ones you can find even at the airport. This kind of particulars improve the customer experience. About the service: –Once we came in, we were greeted so it is good start. They let us choose the seats, but, while we were waiting for the main course we have been asked kindly to move to another table because they were coming 6 customers to accommodate. So instead of letting me decide of the seat, they should have managed this advising what seat was good for us, so to avoid to move after and get a cold seat again.(This is a lack of management skills). –They advertise outside about early bird menu but the waitress never mentioned as choice at our table. –Today, pasta of the day(included into the set menu choice) was… mushrooms and bacon. But you are in a fish restaurant so you should have given the choice of a fish pasta. –I liked the Small bottles of tap water, one still and one fizzy, free of charge. Said that, I surely will go back for another round of their early menu, hoping this time for a fish pasta dish.

Nice food, well priced and generous servings marred slightly by odd long waiting times. Calamari was crisp and tasty for starters. Sea trout was beautiful as was fish and chips. Desserts were varied and tasty. Had to wait a long time(20 min+) to be offered dessert and then had another long wait after requesting the bill. Still a great lunch and service was friendly aside from the gaps.

A qualidade/preço é óptima.

If I was in Kansas I would think this was great seafood… but we’re in Howth… 5 metres from the nearest trawler… But why even think of going here when the Oarhouse and Brass monkey are a spit away

My favorite dining experience(so far) in Howth. Their fish n chips were fresh, cripsy, light… my fiancée was well impressed. i ordered their paella and i think i could have scraped the plate clean. i love the minimalist décor in white as it give the impression of their food: Clean, fresh, well done, and simple.

This place is yummy. I mean really yummy. A friend and I were out at Howth for the day and were originally going to head to El Paso for lunch/dinner but decided we were both in the mood for seafood. They have platters for two and holy moly it was good. The seafood cakes were unbelievably perfect and the calamari was perfect, which is hard to do. Don’t even get me started on the muscles in a white wine and cream sauce. I mean it. Don’t! The sauce was so good I want to bathe in it. REALLY!!! The deserts are also a little slice of heaven. I will be heading back soon.

Went here for lunch with some friends who were visiting from Australia. The oysters were fabulous, the seafood platter for two was excellent and they have decent wine selection. Desserts were also good and the service we had was excellent. Can’t wait to go back here for fabulous seafood and for loads of oysters :-))
