Amazing food! I had one of the best chowders I’ve tried in my life! Excellent service. I’ll definitely come back again!

Amazing food and also very cosy and red :) Good place to crash after the winter walk on the bay Also children friendly — on the arrival they gave our kids activity books, to keep them busy

Woop! Found an outdoor seat on a sunny saturday afternoon. Service was a bit off. No-one came outside for quite a while to hand us a menu(grabbed one myself eventually) or take our order, so I had to go inside to ask for service. It wasn’t very busy, so I never quite understand how this can happen. When it’s sunny… check your terrace, there are bound to be some hungry customers sitting out there! We ordered the Delux Homemade Chowder. A comforting bowl arrived filled with vegetables, salmon, cod, smoked haddock, mussels prawns, scallops and crab meat. Super creamy, and I couldn’t finish as it was super filling.

Howth is one of my favorite places to get seafood, and I knew that people really liked the Brass Monkey, but I had somehow never had food here? I came here with some friends, and it happened to be sunny, so we decided to try these nice little tables outside. Given that I come from a sunny place, I am a sucker for outdoor seating. We had the five mile goat cheese starter, which was really good. For mains, we had the seafood platter and the grilled salmon. The service was excellent, the waiter friendly, and the food was delicious. Only if it was always possible to sit outside, because this is where the charm of this place lies!

I had the most amazing tapas here and was very satisfied after. I had never been before so i was pleasantly surprised. The place was packed and i can understand why. However i felt the hostess/waitress was a bit abrupt and disconnected. Apart from that it was a lovely experience.

I am an American sushi chef from California, and this seafood wine bar satisfied our craving for sea food. Any seafood restaurant has to have a source of fresh fish. And this place sits right on the doc! The fishing village has fisherman that bring in fresh catches to this place! So the taste is amazing! The place is well decorated with a warm Christmassy feeling! We ordered the Trio(pork belly, crab for an appetizer) and the seafood platter which had a variety of fresh fish baked, broiled in a tin foil. The staff is also so warm and friendly with that Irish hospitality so let them know what you need.

Denn hier gibt’s Fisch in allen Variationen.

Howth is one of my favorite places to go on a sunny day in Dublin, and no trip would be complete without a fishy meal. One of the things I love about Howth is that it is still a working fishing harbour and The Brass Monkey is right on the pier. The restaurant was full inside so we took one of the outdoor tables. By this time in the evening it was in the shade and it was getting very cold(maybe even cold enough to freeze the balls off a…), but plenty of warm blankets were provided by staff. I had the chowder to start, it had lots of fish and was tasty, but I prefer a more creamy chowder. I had hake for my main and it was seriously good, I really can’t fault it. There was enough hake for two people and it was cooked perfectly. It came on a bed of baby potatoes, samphire and cherry tomatoes, it was very fresh and complemented the fish beautifully. The main was € 22, but was worth the money.

When you have a wine bar, I don’t think you should be surpised when someone asks to see a menu. Cute place, weird theme, too much red. Wine was pretty good.

The absolute best places in Howth for fresh fish… they are the masters of scallops in Howth. Chiefs are very creative in their dishes from starters to desserts. Try the items on the ‘specials of the day’ … they always exceed expectations! The staff is very friendly and the décor is pure relaxed seaside ! Love this place

Chips are delish. Customer service was not at all good, leaving a tip and as we left not one thank you. Food is really good. Great for tapas and I love the location right on a working harbour

I had such a crave for seafood… I Swear to God! And we passed the Brass Monkey! And said to myself«I’ve been here!, long time ago when I was young and ignorant…» Let’s go! I got the goats cheese as starter, had uhmm! Beautiful texture and came with sweet nuts on top, beetroot sauce, salad and two little pieces of sweet pilled pears. It all sound too sweet but the mixture and the contrast of those flavours were like a bomb in my mouth! Delicious!!! Then I tried the seafood platter… And wow! I was the happiest woman in the world. I’ve had never tried ray before, I didn’t find much flavour but was ok! It also came with salmon, white fish, squid, salad, fries… As I’ve I said before, It would have been easier if I had 3 stomachs like the cow… Couldn’t finish but The plate had to go… And I was crying… But happy because I really enjoyed my time! The place is not huge but it’s comfortable, and the staff is very friendly. Next time I’ll definitely try desert!!! Can’t wait!!!

I often eat in Howth but hadn’t made it to the Brass Monkey yet but now I think it will be a regular! We arrived very late on a Sunday evening and even though the kitchen had more or less closed the waitress accommodated us with a nice table and some options we could have. The décor is lovely with fairy lights all over the windows and a relaxed atmosphere. I can’t fault the service– attentive, kind and fast! We had calamari to start and probably the best calamari I’ve had in ages! My partner and I both had the cod special(€ 22) which was served with baby potatoes, veg, pine nuts and a lovely sauce, very fresh. The cost of the wine did bump the overall cost of the bill a bit but it was a lovely treat. Overall it seems to have a great menu with fish taking the bulk space and even on a Sunday night the place was buzzing. Looking forward to going back!

I do like this place and even though I like to try others when on the pier I get drawn in all the time. The service is good and the food is yummy, what more can you want.

My husband and I made a quick trip out to Howth from Dublin on the DART train. We had heard about the great seafood in Howth. After walking around for a bit we were ready for ‘linner’ and popped into the Brass Monkey. We were not disappointed! Service was quite prompt and friendly. My husband ordered soup and salmon and I had the cod, which the special of the day. We were both so pleased with our choices, as the food was delicious. We hope to return again on subsequent trips to Dublin.

We stopped in for a coffee to spare us from the rain, had a delicious hot chocolate and a solid espresso. They didn’t mind that we were clearly just killing time before lunch to go hit another place. the food did look amazing as it passed us by, if I wasn’t a bloody tourist, I’d go back for the food. Definitely get to Howth for seafood if you’re in Dublin.

We went here on the recommendation of a friend we made on the flight from London to Dublin. It is worth a 20 minute Dart trip to see the fishing village of Howth and dine on the freshly caught fish at The Brass Monkey.

Howth has some of the best restaurants in Dublin and Brass Monkey is one of them! I’ve been a couple of times now. Tried the ray wing which was the fish of the day at the time and it was delicious! All round tasty food at a good price and the staff are lovely.
