We ended up here while looking for a quick vegetarian bite during our visit to Kilkenny. There is nothing I didn’t like about this place. The service was great. people were very friendly. My husband had a quiche and I had a nut loaf. Not knowing what a nutloaf is, my expectations were low. But boy it was so good! I wanted another one. I couldn’t stop eating.

Just to the staff of Café Sol… I enjoyed lunch at your Café… I had the chicken stir fry, and it was very nice … but it was about 3 times too salty(or too much soy) that’s coming from somebody who likes salt. I would prob have it 3 – 4 times a week if it was less salty! Barry

Amazing Quiche! Fresh vegetables. This place is a nice break from pubs and beers. Try a macchiato for starters!

Found a rather large bone in my open-faced chicken sandwich, server was never around, took forever and forgot our tea, the food is over priced and not that special. We were recommended by our B&B so maybe it was just a bad experience.

Went twice over Christmas/New Year. Former with a party of 10. The food was simply outstanding. The latter was an early bird with SWMBO, selecting the fish special. Outstanding. And great value.(Applause).

We had so much fun at Café Sol that it prompted me to create a Unilocal account just to give them a 5-star review. The manager was great — sent us on a wild goose chase to find the«Hole in the Wall Bar» — and the food was fantastic. I still don’t know how they make the duck-confit rosti, but I’m now determined to try it at home. Great stuff.

Great food, great atmosphere. The staff could not have been any nicer. I would say the best place I have eaten in Kilkenny!

I agree with the other reviewers: great-quality food, good food, nice selection — one of the better meals we had in all of Ireland. I had a quinoa, roasted vegetable, goat cheese, and pumpkin cheese salad; my husband had bangers and mash. Both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was nice, with a casual café vibe, the servers were very kind, and prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend this place!

Great food in the fun city of Kilkenny. Bonus if you have a kid too. Where else can you get a great meal and still have a kid’s menu for the little ones? Try the lamb. really good.

This place was fantastic. They had a lovely affordable wine list, and the wait staff was very attentive. The food… amazing, maybe our best meal in Ireland. I started with the blue cheese tartlet with roasted tomato, pesto, and a pepper/dill aioli, delicious flavors together. My husband had the soup, the evening special, butternut squash and carrot, it was sweet and creamy, a mouthwatering combination of flavors. The bread was dense and moist, sundried tomato and fennel for me, whole grain for the hubby, of course smothered in that amazing Irish butter. Dinner was the pasta and fish specials: cod with new potatoes, chives, balsamic, and my husband had the pasta special, WOW it was incredible… fresh homemade tagliatelle, chorizo, bacon, bok Choy, pea pods, and a smoky cream sauce… I was eating off of his plate all night!

3 Cheers for a place with a kids menu that also has good grown up food! We made reservations, and they went out of the way to seat us in a place good for a highchair. The server brought random objects from the kitchen to occupy our toddler while we ate. Caprese salad with Chorizo, YAY!

Best meal we had in Ireland. This small bistro off the High Street in Kilkenny City Center serves food prepared with high quality locally sourced ingredients. The portions are generous, expertly prepared and the presentation is first class. I had the brill fish prepared on a bed of mashed potatoes with fresh vegetables and a tarragon sauce; delicious!
