If you go to Kilkenny to see the castle and other sites of yesterday, a stop into Dylan’s would be a nice way to end the day. Located near John’s Bridge, it is a short walk back to the train station, if necessary. I was unsure of it was named after the poet or the musician(it was), but either way, I wanted in. The bar has a cozy feel to it with a low ceiling and a wood burning fire place. The bartender and other patrons were all friendly. I sampled a local IPA, O’Hara’s and also a local whiskey, Green Spot. Enjoyed them both!

If you are a whiskey connoisseur… or just like whiskey… this is seriously the place to go. If there is an Irish whiskey you are looking for, they will have it there! The bar was quite cozy, although being there on a Friday night, it got pretty full quite quickly after we arrived. There was live music playing awesome 90’s music, a live fire, and great drinks! This place truly looks like the stereotypical Irish Pub. All in all, a great spot if you’re looking for some good craic on a Friday night!

Real old mans pub with tons of character. Fires lit, live music on a Friday night and a huge selection of whiskey, hence the name. At least 50 different whiskeys from all around the world to offer. Just the perfect place to unwind on a Friday night.

My last night in Ireland. .the liver has been punished and the wife is exhausted from the nonstop whirlwind tour of Ireland. Kilkenny is a Medieval Town with winding streets and stacked buildings located in the lush green countryside, an hour and a half Southwest of Dublin. It was unusually warm in Ireland the day we spent in this town and little did we know any reason why we came, it was just the easiest transit to Dublin for our flight the next afternoon. We did read of its historical architecture and old city walls, and as a place that had fabulously decorated pubs. Little did I know that it would be the home of possibly one of the greatest pubs I’ve been to. The Dylan Whiskey Bar was across the street from our shitty Hotel room above the avenue. It has the single most impressive list of Irish Whiskeys I’ve seen anywhere… I could leave it at that but it would be negligent of me not mention that they also get the idea that people want more out of their beer selection, they provide local Irish brews and a selection of craft beers from all over. The décor of the bar is elegant but not garish and feels like a comfortable local if it wasn’t for the awe inspiring whiskeys that draw in your fascination with information cards explaining each and every libation to be had. The list is so impressive they are located on the Irish Whiskey tour map, do not miss this place if you enjoy Irish Whiskey.

This bar is very nice, and they certainly know their spirits. The bartenders are experts in a wide range of offerings, and cater to your individual tastes and experience. All of the people in Kilkenny are kind and helpful, and the staff at Dylan’s is no exception.
