I am a bit late in writing this review; this was one of my all-time favorite food restaurants when I was in Ireland. Some people we met suggested we check it out and they were spot-on. I highly suggest making a reservation as this restaurant is extremely busy. The food and beverages were amazing. The staff were very attentive and constantly checking on us. I really loved the fact that one of the owners came over to see how our meal was going. My friend and I just kept sitting there in awe of how great the foid was anad how fairly priced it was. We paid a lot more in a lot of touristy places. I highly recommend trying them.

Bricin was recommended both by our b&b owners in Killarney and in my Lonely Planet book, so we stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night while we were in town. The specialty at Bricin is boxty and I am not sure if many restaurants serve that in Ireland, or elsewhere, so it can definitely be touted as unique. The restaurant part of Bricin is upstairs from the«gift shop» part, so my «weary tourist» sensors went off, but once you’re up in the restaurant, it actually is a very tasteful and warmly decorated space, and it was packed in November which is tourist off-season, so clearly not just a tourist haunt either. As for the food, we ordered from a € 27 set menu which offered three courses. I enjoyed a starter of fried camembert which I likened to a «savory zeppole,» the famous boxty(which is lamb stew in a folded potato pancake) and fruit crumble for dessert. Overall, great choices and a certain kind of comfort food in the chilly Irish weather. Service at Bricin was friendly(I am finding this to be a theme in Ireland?) and the waitress was chatty. Overall, a worthwhile stop in Killarney for a(somewhat) unique meal!

Walking thru the town we were trying to decide the best place for dinner. Reviewing menus, checking out the atmosphere and Unilocal reviews led us here. We made the best decision. Located on the 2nd floor and owned by 2 brothers for 20+ years. Ran into our local tour guide also having dinner which is always a great sign. Food was exceptional, service felt like being at a family meal and food was off the charts. The restaurant wall is 200 years old and finally we were in an old Irish restaurant without feeling like being at a pub with Irish Stew which we love… but wanted a taste of being in an older style restaurant. a must go

Our travel book recommended here for dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious. The owner was very friendly and helped us with directions and recommendations for our next stop. My entire family of four enjoyed boxty, seafood specialty, chicken, and mussels. Thank you for a great time!

Excellent, excellent boxtys! The service was great, food great, and the early bird an excellent value. I had the lamb boxty, my significant other had the ratatouille boxty. Both delicious. I recommend arriving by 6:45 for the Early Bird 2-course dinner for 17 Euros. Also, the place fills up quickly after 7 pm so without a reservation, you could be waiting a while.

We chose this restaurant for dinner because they offered a vegetarian boxty, and it’s hard finding traditional Irish food at restaurants that a vegetarian can eat. While the appetizers and desserts here were not memorable, my husband and I both really enjoyed our respective boxtys(ratatouille for me, chicken for him). The ratatouille was delicious on it’s own, and the boxty was fun. The salad it came with was yummy. The bruschetta appetizer was sort of laughable(breakfast toast with a little bit of cheddar and plain diced tomatoes) and the apple fruit crumble wasn’t very good(very little apple, soggy crisp), but the restaurant is named for the boxty and that they do well. We did the early bird special of 2 courses for 19 euros. I recommend making reservations if you come after the early bird special ends(6:45) because there was a very long wait when we left. The actual restaurant is absolutely gorgeous — very traditional(I think? At least how a tourist envisions traditional Irish) décor and service was quick.

As others noted, the restaurant is upstairs from the Irish gift shop. The early bird special was two courses for 19 euros until 6:45– a bargain. The ambiance is nicer than your typical tourist restaurant. We had boxty, the house specialty: all 3 of the different fillings were in our order. My favorite was the lamb: the chicken and ratatouille were also excellent. Definite thumbs up

recommended by our B&B and it was very good. we started with the spicy pea soup which was unreal! I then had the ratatouille boxty and my husband had the lamb boxty. the service was okay, we waited a bit for our waitress to come check on us. just before leaving, the owner brought is a celebratory drink as we had told them it was our honeymoon. that was a very nice gesture! I’d recommend this place for sure!

Went to Ireland in July with a dozen friends and family and did a motor coach tour from Dublin through the southern route around the ‘Ring of Kerry’, up to Killarney, on to Galway, Ashford Castle, and back to Dublin. I was excited to see the land of my ancestors. What a great time! While in Killarney we had the pleasure to dine at Bricin. It’s not easy for a party of 14 to walk into a restaurant and expect to be seated but Bricin’s owner did his best to accommodate us. The service was quick, efficient and very friendly. The restaurant was quaint and the food was very good. If you should get to Killarney I suggest a visit to Bricin. And for Ireland … what beautiful country with some of the warmest and most gracious people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. I’m still searching for the exact area that my ancestors originated so my next trip can be even more enjoyable, if that’s possible.

Try the Boxty. We visited Killarney with our two young adult sons in Summer 2012. A local recommended this place, with the words«try the boxty». We had no idea what that was. It was fantastic. A famine food, it is basically a potato crêpe filled with a spiced meat and gravy. Very, very good.

Bricin has a craft and souvenir shop on street level and then a restaurant up the stairs. Right away the host took our wet jackets and put it in the back to dry while taking us to the table. We wanted to try the traditional Irish dish, the boxty, and heard from our B&B host that this is the place to go. She was right, we were surprised that it was so good. A boxty is a potato pancake that is filled with lamb, chicken, or chili, etc… It was expensive 15 – 18 euro for a boxty, but a wonderful experience
