I would have given this place 4 – 5 stars had it not been for the service and dessert. Plenty of staff around but they just stood in the corner and waited till called. I had the caramalised banana Mille feuille which was more like chunky banana slices in between creeps with a berry ice cream and the banana was barely caramalised and it tasted ordinary. I could have served a better dessert than that. The positives were that the calamari was exquisite and my monkfish main was excellent. I wish there was less gnocchi and more monkfish but other than that the flavours were excellent. I absolutely loved both courses and almost licked my plate clean :-) The wine list was small but contained some great choices albeit a bit pricey. The meals were quite reasonable overall. I would happily return for the entrée and main but not get dessert in the future. Also if you improve your service you will get a lot more happy customers who will return to spend their money here :-)

What an great find, Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Kinsale. The food is amazing, serving a combination of fish, steaks and other dishes. Great earlybird menu until 7.30. Friendly staff and a really enjoyable experience.

This was an unexpected find, restaurants this good are rare in Ireland. My wife and I joke(but also dead serious) you really need to drop a star or 2 from your typical restaurant ratings here if you want it to be relative to reviews in, for example, the US, but I have to give this place a true 5 stars. We have really enjoyed everything we have had but the surf and turf is our fav so far. Steaks and prawns cooked and seasoned perfectly, delicious. Chef is Malay and clearly dedicated to high quality. I will be back regularly. My wife loves the desserts but I have not tried them.

After reading some reviews of this restaurant, I was so excited to visit that I perhaps had too great expectations. Having said that the flavors produced by the chef at this Malay influenced restaurant were delicious, but not all of the dishes were successful. First the décor is fresh and inviting, but for a wasted area outside the restroom that just seemed to be vacant space(it was separate from the dining room so it really did not interfere with the atmosphere, but it was odd nonetheless). The wait staff could not have been nicer. We were the first one’s to arrive for dinner on a slow Sunday evening — the challenge of dining with a 4 year old. We ordered mussels, calamari curls to start and my daughter had the rice noodles with beef(mild) — the flavor of the mussels was fantastic and rich with a little spice — the mussels were a bit small but tasty. The calamari curls were excellent — the most tender calamari I have ever had. They were supposed to come with a citrus wasabi sauce, but I could not detect the wasabi — they were still delicious. My daughter’s rice noodle dish was good, but the beef was over cooked. For our mains, we had spice encrusted fish and prawns with parpadelle pasta — both were a flavor sensation, but the prawns were a unique and inspired interpretation of that dish — think italian and asian combined. The spice encrusted fish fillet was very good though my wife was not a fan of the cracked whole spices that were used to make the crust. For dessert, my daughter had a sort of deconstructed toblerone cheese cake — I managed to grab a bite — eh. My wife and I had a mille feulle crepes suzette — this was closer to a crepes suzette, but not really — it was okay, but it would have been better with many more layers and cream with cream in between — it should be far more delicate then this version was — artistic license is one thing, but this was an unfortunate, though tasty description/interpretation of what this dessert was. Despite a few caveats, and a bathroom step accident, I really liked this place and would go back(though I preferred Max’s Wine Bar).
