My husband and I stayed at the Limerick City Hotel and wanted to visit the attached pub one night for an evening cap. This place was a bit of a let down, especially since we have visited quite a few of other pubs in the area. McGettigans is a neat place, and it tries to mimic a traditional style pub with the cozy couches, dark atmosphere, and even a small library in the back corner, but the service was quite weak and the prices high for pub fare. We didn’t get service at our table after sitting for about 10 minutes as 2 different servers walked by on several occasions, so we approached the bar man. All we wanted were 2 beers, so we ordered and were told the bar man would bring the Guinness to our table after it settled. After waiting about 15 minutes, we went back to the bar and had to remind the bar man. He had left the Guinness sitting and forgot. So he offered to pour a new one, but that also took about 10 minutes. I recommend walking a few blocks to a more traditional pub with great service and great music to get a better feel for a real Irish pub.

This is a brilliant pub connected to the Limerick City Hotel. It has a full bar with a great selection of beers and spirits, nice décor, and a good pub menu. They also have a stage for live acts. Great addition to Limerick.
