Wasn’t sure what to expect going in here for a spot of lunch — it’s only up the road from me and they do lunch, I was hungry, so Bobs your mothers brother! It has a nice interior with lots of places to hide, always a winner for me. The staff were very nice and attentive especially when and entire glass of water was spilled everywhere, literally everywhere — quick clean up, no problems, embarrassment quickly disappeared. We were initially morto, but the waitress made us unmortified! Nice. We all had the roast beef — not the most interesting thing in the world to eat, but we were in the mood for good old fashioned hearty dinner from the fields. And that’s what we got. The beef was melt in the mouth and there was plenty of it, the Yorkshire puds had the right gooey to crispy ratio — don’t challenge me on this, I know my puds — the roast potatoes were roasty, the carrots were carroty and the broccoli was broccolish. All boxes ticked. We will venture back to see what else they have — might even pop in for an evening drink now that we know what it’s like inside! Good for hearty dinner heads, gimme a snug to hide in with my pint heads, and, I hope you have the biggest roll of blue tissue paper to clean up the water I have spilled everywhere and made a total mess — oh brilliant, you do have one, heads!

Upscale pub, older crowd. Good burgers, and I love their Cajun Chicken pasta, it is a good medium level spicy, enjoyable but not overpowering. Rotating specials of a main, chips, and a pint for € 12. They also have 2 for € 12 cocktails. Nice wine selection. It gets crowded, especially the weekend evenings, but they will accommodate group bookings. Free wifi, ask for the password.

I don’t agree with previous posters. I visited Coman’s recently for lunch and the food was poor, and also very poor value for money. The soup, for instance, which was e4.70, was thin and watery and did not even come with a slice of bread and butter. Also no cracked pepper which you’d expect for that price. I am also disgusted that such a modern establishment does not have a wheelchair-accessible toilet… I thought that was the law these days? My dining companion is a wheelchair user, and she was informed by Coman’s staff that the ladies’ toilet was accessible. However, it was not. Although the door was wide enough for a wheelchair to get in, there were no bars or other movement aids, so my friend was forced to crawl on the bathroom floor. Equality Authority beckons.

In no way is this a fancy pub. It is inexpensive place to get a bite and a pint. Unfortunately Friday and Saturday nights are very busy and it’s difficult to get a table. They run a nightly special for € 12 dinner and a pint it is a very good value. The servers are extremely friendly & accommodating. Parking a lot around back.

Popped in for a late drink with friends — nice service and good wine list — its quite modern and also has a nice friendly buzz. I’m a fan!

I have an amazing ability to remember ridiculous trivial facts, that my dad tells me are worthless. In an effort to prove him wrong I enter myself into all manner of pub quizzes to show that these factoids in fact have a worth! I will prove him wrong yet! Thus the first thing that drew me into Coman’s was the pub quiz on Thursday nights. I was surprised to find quite a modern pub, but in its modernity it was lacking a bit in character. There was a decent crowd and there was a bit of craic to be had, but I have to say it wasn’t on the top of my list of pub quizzes. I’d imagine it would be a nice place to pop into for a weekend brunch with the family.

Coman’s of Rathgar is a nice local boozer, not quite as cosy and charcterfilled as the 108 just across the road but good for a pint all the same. With a large main lounge and decent pints of Guinness. Theres food pretty much all day as well, this being a pub in Ireland they have, wait for it. A carvery! from 12 – 2.30 and bar food from 3 – 9. Theres big screens for all the sport and a ‘Super Quiz Night — Every Thursday Night’ super! There’s also(the worlds smallest pub) carpark around the back, € 2 regardless of where you park. Even more reason to leave the car at home. Nice little beer garden too.

This is a bit of a high class pub. There’s a good atmosphere and the food is really great. The only downside is its a bit on the pricey side. Other than that though its a great place for drinks and some very classy pub grub!
