I had a lovely time at Ernesto’s today. I heard about it from a friend who was raving about it. So as I was in Rathmines, I thought I might as well try it out.
I thought it was an Italian café because of the name, and even as I came in the door, there was a shelf of Italian goods (Barilla pasta and sauces) for sale which confirmed that idea, but then once I sat down I noticed all the art at the back of the café was Che Guevara inspired. So maybe it’s just named after El Che or maybe it is both Italian and named after El Che.
I got a filtered coffee, which was good, but a bit too strong for my taste, and a lovely smoked salmon scrambled eggs with toast, which I really enjoyed.
The café has a real local vibe and it’s exactly the kind of place that Rathmines needs and that fits so perfectly well in the area. It’s got personality and serves quality food without being too concerned with fickle hipster fashions.
I would recommend going that extra few steps to the end of Rathmines to try it out.

I couldn’t recommend this café more, the coffee is superb, the food delicious and the décor unique and stylish. The staff are both friendly and efficient. The music playing softly in the background is an eclectic mix of Cuban and Spanish guitar and really adds to the relaxing holiday atmosphere. A definite to visit if you find yourself between Rathgar and Rathmines.

So cute! Hidden away at the end of Rathmines, this is a fairly new café ! Very student and catch up friendly, warm and cosy. Tables outside for the smokers amongst us! I am trying to watch the calories but they do have some unusual and tasty looking cakes to eat with coffee. healthy scrambled eggs on toast if you don’t have a sweet tooth. I for one am going back this Sunday for some of that rather large and incredible looking pink meringue! All of the top fitness models advise a cheat day ;)

Fantastic coffee, single estate, lovely roast.
Sandwiches are excellent, The SFC is particularly good. Also stock some good store cupboard standbys, Barilla pasta.
Spotlessly clean, Jonathan, the owner is a wonderful host.
This is easily the best coffee shop in the area.

The best place for coffee in the whole of Dublin. The food is amazing, deadly staff who are always at hand to help out. Really good layout to the shop and a good environment to be in. Well done lads keep up the good work

Really top class café only new on the scene aswell. Went in with a few friends just for a coffee, the staff were really friendly and the place looks great and is really on point. All brand new of corse.
The café is only open a few weeks at the moment but is out to a cracker of a start as the place was jammers when i got to drop down. At the moment they are experimenting with different coffee blends so it going to change every few weeks but the blend they had on when i was there was great! took to milk really well gave it a creamy feel.
Food i didnt have but some friends did and first off looks great but went down a treat as well
While eating the owner came over asking how the meal was and what we thought of the place. Hes been in the catering world for 15+ years but packed in hes previous position to open his own place,
Will definitely be going back I can see this place becoming a real hotspot !! one to watch :)
