Not impressed. Came here for breakfast pre Christmas shopping hell. Service was slow and indifferent. I had scrambled eggs with mushrooms and sourdough bread. One thing I hate are eggs from a microwave. That plasticcy texture with most of the taste atomised is not to my liking. Mushrooms on the side were limp and unappetising. I was also slightly freaked by some tiny pieces of salmon in the egg making me think perhaps the eggs had been recycled from a previous diner. Unlikely, in fairness, but nul points for sloppiness. Mind you, the latte was very good but for presentation, content and service, not so much. I’d give this place a miss.

I was recently in Dundrum late one morning, so I decided to have breakfast in Café Mimo. Their breakfast menu wasn’t the largest, it only had about 6 — 8 items to choose from, such as vanilla, cimmamon french toast, a bagel with cream cheese, granola, a fried breakfast and something else I don’t recall anymore. As I considered my choices, I tried to remember why I haven’t been back here since my first time, shortly after House of Fraiser opened. Then I remembered, the noise. The acoustics of the open plan area are horrible. Café Mimo appears to be popular with young families, so a lot of the noise is young children running around, so it’s very hard to have a conversation while you’re there. It also feels a bit odd eating in the middle of a department store, with nothing but a half height glass barrier to distinguish the café from the store. The food was average, if slightly disappointing — my french toast was just ordinary and didn’t live up to the expectations the description on the menu set. The staff weren’t the friendliest, they were brisk and a little surly, but that might have just been the result of a busy Saturday shift still ahead of them. They did appear to initially question why we sent a cup with lipstick marks back(we had no problem with this, neither of us were wearing lipstick). As I left, I considered taking a photo of the 8 or so badly parked strollers at the very front of the restaurant, before deciding that such a shot wouldn’t be a very helpful Unilocal photo either. My search for decent food in Dundrum Town Centre continues…

you never think of café mimo as somewhere to go to eat something in Dundrum and i think that is because it is tucked away in the bowels of the house of fraser, there are people who do not even know this exists! but, once you have gone here once, once you hae deicded to turn down all the other places and brave the crowds in the house of fraser to get here you will want to go back again. the food in here is fresh and tasty and more varied than you would expect. the staff are very friendly too, sometimes they can be busy and run off their feet but you know that they are doing the best they can. along with coffee and sandwiches you can get things like proper lunches, i love their chunky chips! nothing like real proper chips! this place isgreat for breakfast too, i recommend it in fact!

Although this place is a little hard to find, in the middle of the House of Fraser store in Dundrum town centre, its well worth seeking it out As the food in shopping centre is by and large awful, especially in the food court. It has a nice airy seating area, in a kind of conservatory style set up. The food is all good, they do a lot of stuff with salads, Paninis, soups and the very edible chunky chips. As well as nice coffee’s and very tasty deserts. The cheesecake is meant to be amazing, not a fan myself. Don’t be put off by the yummy mummy drummy gang that frequent the place, they’re on to a good thing. Open from 10 for a fry up, albeit a poser one. Theres Free tea or coffee before 11 with the breakfast.
