Enchanting. Regal. Magnificent. I could sum up the entire review with those three words, which whisper their existence in every inch of this Hotel. The splendor of the palace is present everywhere. The beautifully ornate furniture, the silk draperies, classic museum grade decorations, the excellence in service, and the location… right on the Grand Canal. And if you’re lucky enough to get a room with a window… then, your experience will be amplified. No matter where you stay at, chances are you will absolutely love Venice, but if you stay here at the Gritti, you’ll want to stay in Venice! My greatest regret is that we stayed one night. As much as I loved Rome, I wish we had allocated more resources(money & time) to spend it at this posh palace! My advice to you is the following: 1) Stay few days(We didn’t which we regret) 2) Plan on dressy outfits(I hadn’t –which I regret) 3) Although there are many places you can eat/drink, spend at least one occasion to sit on the deck and sip on a wine, or a cappucino. Priceless! 4) Smile and take it all in!(I did, and so grateful for the memories!) A big Ciao to the Gritti!

This was the most beautiful hotel, and definitely one of the best in Venice. The hotel is pretty pricey, standard rooms will run you $ 900+ USD but I think you get a better deal if you use Starwood points to book. We were here for two nights and had a different room on each night. The first night we arrived well past midnight and the hotel was fully booked so my boyfriend and I were given a standard room on the 4th floor which wasn’t terribly impressive… the size didn’t bother me(most European rooms are quite small), and it was beautifully furnished, BUT the window was tiny and in a corner! They told us upon arriving though that they would be happy to upgrade us to a better room the next day the moment some became available. The second room we were in was absolutely perfect. The suite had high ceilings and consisted of a living room, bedroom, and beautiful marble bathroom. The décor was gorgeous and the two chandeliers were stunning. Overall we had a great stay, the complimentary wine upon arrival and Acqua di Parma bath products were well received. Staff was wonderful, and the location can not be beat. Breakfast is pricey(50+ euros) so we didn’t opt for that, but the view from the terrace is great so definitely try to grab drinks there at some point to enjoy the scenery.

This review is simply for drinks and atmosphere as we didn’t have a chance to dine at the Gritti Palace. Though certainly someplace you will want to go only if you’re willing to spend 12 – 14 Euro on drinks, I think both the atmosphere and view are worth it. My partner and I took a trip to Venice and stayed in an Airbnb, but were recommended by friends to check out Gritti for both it’s history(one can see from the Patio the window that Ernest Hemingway broke) and it’s atmosphere(an amazing view of the Grand Canal). We ended up staying at the Gritti for a couple drinks and hours just taking in the city and movement along the Canal on the terrace. Out waiters even brought us over some literature to read on the history of the Gritti so we cold soak in a bit more history. Make sure you stay long enough to visit the restroom — just the walk through the hotel and seeing all of the pictures of those who have come to stay on the wall is worth a look!

The best meal I’ve had in Italy. Also great service. They have a patio on the grand canal, but it was too cold to sit outside. That’s the only thing that might have made it better.

While I did not stay as a guest here, I did visit the restaurant and bar as a guest of the general manager. The Gritti Palace is run by very professional staff, and the experience as a visitor is simply fantastic. The drinks from the bar are delicious, and you would not expect that from a hotel. Sitting outside on the terrace is rather unforgettable, because you’re looking down both sides of the Grand Canal, watching water taxis and water buses pass by in front of beautiful landmarks and city scenes. I’d imagine a stay as a guest in the hotel would be just as phenomenal, but it’s certainly worth a visit regardless.

From the moment we arrived in a water taxi we were treated like royalty. The Gritti Palace is like walking into someone’s beautiful old home. The staff were excellent from the front desk to housekeeping with an extra thanks to the concierge desk. Everyone spoke excellent english and were great to deal with. Our room was a corner king with a huge marble bathroom overlooking the street below. Not a canal view but that is what walking around the city is for. The hotels location is great, just a short walk from St Marks, nice shopping and dining. The prices are expensive, but as we soon found out, just about everything in Venice is. The quality of this property would be hard to beat anywhere, We would return !
